This family-owned stable in a park-like setting, offers horseback riding lessons for kids and adults, as well as trail rides, horse shows, seasonal camps and birthday parties. Sweetwater Regional Park 3218 Summit Meadow Rd. 619-472-7572 www.sdparks.org/content/sdparks/en/parkpages/SweetwaterSummit.html This 500-acre regional park has modern campsites (some even with equestrian corrals) and habitats for fishing, hiking and mountain biking, as well as picnicking. Additional amenities: a tot lot, splash park and amphitheater. There’s a fee for parking. Sweetwater Reservoir Shoreline Fishing 6503 San Miguel Rd. 619-409-6777 www.sweetwater.org/index.aspx?page=112 Along this 2.5-mile stretch on the south side of Sweetwater Reservoir, shoreline fishing is an option Saturday through Monday. Pack your own bait and try to catch fish like bass, catfish and carp. Catch and release practices are preferred. Nearby trails are ideal for walking, birdwatching and photography.
