Families

Thankfulness Goes a Long Way! Thanksgiving Day is here again, but we are thankful every day. I am thankful for my family, my health and food on our table. Not everyone is in the same situation. We pray those less fortunate get the help they need. Many San Diego County residents are generous and helpful — we thank you! Thanks to the military for keeping our country safe, and to first responders for coming to the rescue when needed. San Diego Family is thankful for our readers and advertisers. We love connecting you every month. Our advertisers make it possible to provide Family Magazine for free to readers. Please thank them when using their services. I am thankful for my staff at San Diego Family. They work together as a family and for the betterment of our company. A BIG thank you! Have a great Thanksgiving season! Turkey and pumpkin pie — here we come!

It’s always in season to express gratitude and help others. What are some of the ways your family gives back to the community? Anne Malinoski contributing writer My boys (ages 3 and 6) love to help with food drives and school supply drives. We always have a good conversation about the community we’re serving and it’s something they can both fully participate in. Randy Hahn, marketing representative My wife Thereece spends countless hours helping plan our community’s annual Clairemont Family Day. Our whole family helps set up the venue and clean up afterwards. I recently had the privilege of serving on the March of Dimes Executive Gala Committee, which helps support healthy moms and babies with an annual fundraising event. Nicole Maggio marketing representative My husband and I give back by being foster parents. There are so many local children in need of a loving home. Foster parenting can be challenging, but the experience of supporting a child in this way is incredibly rewarding.

Tony Andrews, marketing representative My family volunteered downtown at a kitchen that feeds the homeless population. We also went to the Gary & Mary West Senior Wellness Center to serve food, play games and talk with senior citizens. Both were great learning experiences that helped us appreciate what we have and what it means to serve others.
