“Marines in Flight” Art Contest The Flying Leatherneck Historical Foundation is sponsoring “Marines in Flight,” an art contest giving students in grades 6–12 a platform to express creativity as they learn about U.S. and aviation history and the men and women who designed, built and flew iconic aircraft. National Recognition for Two Local Museums The Institute of Museum and Library Services recently announced recipients of the 2019 National Medal for Museum and Library Service, the nation’s highest honor given to museums and libraries that make significant contributions to their communities. Two of the 10 medal recipients are in San Diego County! Congratulations to The New Children’s Museum (Downtown San Diego) and Barona Cultural Center & Museum (Lakeside)!
