Many San Diegans will say they haven’t experienced summer until they’ve attended one of San Diego County’s iconic summer events — and there are many. Longer days and fewer morning commitments mean families can stay out later than usual. So, what are you waiting for? Get off the couch and put down the video games — there’s just nothing better than summertime in San Diego! Where to start? America’s Finest City offers everything from world-famous Comic-Con International and San Diego Symphony’s Bayside Summer Nights to our beloved county fair (ends July 4) and California Dreaming Beach Parties at the Bahia Resort in Mission Bay. Don’t miss UltraStar Cinemas Kids’ Summer Series where kidfriendly movies are offered Monday through Thursday mornings for only one dollar per movie (movie changes weekly). If your kids identify more with night owls than early birds, consider treating Dad and the kids to Roar ‘n’ Snore Safari, an overnight adventure at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park.

If it’s FREE entertainment you’re looking for, plan an evening at Summer Movies in the Park or enjoy one of the many free outdoor concerts throughout the county. Choose from the season’s bountiful produce at a local farmers market or stroll through the food and art scene of Lane Field Park Market (along Harbor Drive, near Broadway Pier) on Sundays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Foodies also unite at Food Truck Fridays in Balboa Park every Friday during the summer from 4–8:30 p.m., complete with family-friendly activities and live entertainment.
