Head of the Class: Educational insights from local administrators
Miss Nancy founded Renaissance Village Academy for children like Mateo, a 6th grader who joined RVA in August. According to his mother, “Mateo has always been a curious child. When he was younger, he loved exploring how things worked. When he started public school, that spark faded and seemed to die. The energy/curiosity he thrived on was not reciprocated until he began at RVA. Within weeks, I saw a return of my engaged, inquisitive boy who I knew was still in there. That engagement is still strong half a year in. Enrolling him with Miss Nancy and her child-centric instructors was the best decision I could have made.” Miss Nancy designed RVA to be a safe space for quirky, curious, gifted children, at intellectually appropriate levels not limited by age. The program meets both the academic and social/emotional needs of students who don’t always fit expectations. Standards are the base, but not the limit, of lessons. Each week includes music, art, gardening, and karate. Miss Nancy
