“To the students past and present: It’s not about where you start, or what you start with, it’s about how you apply yourself to building something for the world.”
The Gala Dinner + Alumni Awards of 2019 was a grand celebration of Sancta’s past, present and future, held for the first time in The University of Sydney’s majestic Great Hall. Over 160 community members and supporters, including our amazing alumni, current students, families and friends, Council members, staff and generous donors, came together to acknowledge the achievements of six inspiring alumnae and celebrate Sancta’s enduring tradition of empowering humanity. The event was also a heart-warming and fun-filled reunion for alumni of the ‘9s’ Fresher years – 1969, 1979, 1989, 1999 and 2009.
Loretta Joseph, Alumna & Global FinTech Leader
Simone Whetton, Alumna Fresher 1987, provided an outstanding execution of the Master of Ceremonies role, whilst Loretta Joseph, Alumna Fresher 1988, featured as the evening’s keynote speaker and gave an engaging address on her involvement in FinTech in recent years. After the absolute success of the evening, we look forward to another grand celebration of Sancta at our 2020 event. Our chosen location for this year is the MacLaurin Hall, another of the University’s stunning heritage spaces. Following valuable alumni feedback, we will hold the event on Saturday 23 May, allowing more of our widely dispersed community to attend for a weekend of nostalgia and celebration. We invite all friends of Sancta to be a part of our biggest annual event which will include additional social events at Sancta throughout the weekend! Connect with your Sancta peers, bring a table of 10 together, and join us in celebration. A limited number of rooms in Sancta’s Graduate House will be available to event guests – early bookings are encouraged. Purchase tickets online at sancta.edu.au
