Mom...Dad...
This is what I need from you.
I need both of you to stay involved in my life. Please write letters, make phone calls, and ask me lots of questions. When you don’t stay involved, I feel like I’m not important and that you don’t really love me.
Please stop fighting and work hard to get along with each other. Try to agree on matters related to me. When you fight about me, I think that I did something wrong and I feel guilty.
Tips to make your family’s life bettereven in hard times
I want to love you both and enjoy the time that I spend with each of you. Please support me and the time that I spend with each of you. If you act jealous or upset, I feel like I need to take sides and love one parent more than the other.
Please communicate directly with my other parent so that I don’t have to send messages back and forth.
When talking about my other parent, please say only nice things, or don’t say anything at all. When you say mean, unkind things about my other parent, I feel like you are expecting me to take your side.
Please remember that I want both of you to be a part of my life. I count on my mom and dad to raise me, to teach me what is important, and to help me when I have problems.

A Twist on Easter
Easter egg hunts haven't changed much through the years: Groups of eager kids search high and low for colorful (and well-hidden) treasure. But if you're looking for a fresh take on the classic, look no further than these clever ideas for mixing up the traditional Easter egg hunt:
Try a novel twist on the traditional daylight search: Arm your kids with flashlights, and send them out at dusk to hunt for eggs. For even more fun, make it a glow-in-the-dark egg hunt: Just fill plastic eggs with lit glow sticks and candy, tape them shut and hide them (or paint the eggs with glow in the dark paint).
Turn the tables on your kids -- let them each hide a few eggs for you, and the other adults at your party, to find. The child who stumps you the most (with the last egg found) gets a prize.
Assign kids colors. This is a great twist for assigning certain amounts of eggs to different age ranges. For example, the 3 to 5 year olds collect the blue eggs. You can always re-hide them and give hunters different egg colors.
Older kids LOVE a good hunt. With a little bit of pre-work, this will be a favorite!
Put clues to find each consecutive egg in the plastic eggs hidden throughout the entire house and have their ultimate find be their Easter Baskets. Be creative with your clues.
Instead of hiding jellybeans in the egg, try creating homemade coupons and stuffing it with those instead. The personalized coupons might be for a little extra TV time, an extra bedtime story, or a treat. It’s a great alternative to sugary candies!
Who says that you can’t mix education and fun? Put numbers on all the different eggs and after the kids are done collecting as many as they can find, have them add up all the numbers. The kid with the highest total will be rewarded a special treat!
Choose a sentence or phrase related to Easter. Use a dry erase marker to write a letter on each egg that spells out the phrase. After the egg hunt ends, have the kids work together to figure out the mystery phrase. Once it’s been solved, divide up the eggs evenly and enjoy!

Vendors Wanted for Spring Vintage Market
Jaton Hampton is looking to the past to prepare for the future – a future, oneof-a-kind event, that is. The prolific events coordinator is planning the inaugural Concho Valley Modern Vintage Market April 13-14 at Fort Concho National Historic Landmark, 630 S. Oakes St. Vendor application deadline is March 1.
CVMVM will feature a variety of affordable, quality vintage art, décor and clothing, as well as new retro-inspired items. The market is family friendly, and will include children’s activities, vendors, live music, food trucks, a Saturday car show and more. Admission is $5.
“You often hear the phrase, ‘Things aren’t made like they used to be.’ And there’s a lot of truth to that,” Hampton said. “I wanted to bring these older, beautiful, well-made pieces to one place, and also make it a celebration of all things vintage or retro-inspired.”
San Angelo Elks Lodge # 1880 will hold its spring garage sale on March 9th at its location at 2121 S. Chadbourne. Items will be sold from this location from 8am-1pm.
The lodge will accept donations of items for the garage sale on Thursday, March 7th after 5pm., and Friday March 8th 5-10pm. Please contact the Elks Lodge at 227-6920 for alternate drop-off times; (leave a message if no answer).
Hampton is part of Blue Door Designs and Events, which offers staging and design for homes, events and photography shoots. She rents out and often incorporates antique and vintage décor and pieces for Blue Door’s events, but found that affordable, high-caliber finds often are scarce.
At CVMVM, there will be antique vendors, retro, including mid-century modern, repurposed and boutique style booths. There will also be on-trend clothing and accessories, original art, plants, and locally-sourced food items. There will be an area for children arts & crafts, live music & hang out area, photo booths, food trucks and a car show.
As with Hampton’s other events, vendor applications will be fielded and curated to ensure a top-notch event showcasing unique, quality products.
For more information about CVMVM, including booth sizes and setup and takedown times, visit conchovalleymodernvintagemarket.com. Email vendor applications to conchovalleyvintagemarket@gmail.com. Vendors are assigned booths on a first-come, first-served basis.

POLO on the CONCHO
Polo on the Concho is an annual event that celebrates the beloved equestrian team sport, with an added touch of West Texas flare, to raise funds benefitting the San Angelo Symphony’s artistic and educational programs. Players travel to San Angelo, Texas, donating their time and bringing equipment and horses, and come together to play on the historic Fort Concho Parade Ground made into a polo field. The sport of polo has longstanding West Texas roots, reaching many families in our area that were involved in not only raising polo ponies but also playing the sport across the state and for some, the country.
Guests attending Polo on the Concho will enjoy a “polo picnic box” lunch created by Chef Daniel Friedrich, an afternoon of polo between two competitive teams, and a champagne “divot stomp”. That evening, guests attending the Texas barbecue will be treated to a performance by American Texas Country singer, Wade Bowen. Bowen has performed for over two decades with more than 4,000 shows into his career, and has become synonymous with country music, songwriting, and captivating live performances.
The event’s success is due to the generosity of volunteers, community partners, and donors. The 2024 Polo on the Concho takes place over the weekend of Saturday, May 4th, 2024.
For more information or to purchase tickets to one of the Polo on the Concho events, please contact the San Angelo Symphony at (325) 658-5877. VIP

The San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts will host three Love to Learn classes in the first quarter of 2024. Each class will feature a special, handson, skill taught by prominent instructors. The Love to Learn classes are part of the museum’s Grand Re-Opening celebration.
Love to Learn: The Art of Ceramic Vases with Michelle Cuevas will be a two-part class and takes place on Saturday, March 16, 2024 from 9 –11:30 a.m. and Saturday, March 23 from 9 – 11:30 a.m. in the Concho Clay Studio located in the breezeway at 1 Love Street. Refreshments will be provided.
The first session will consist of building a vase from a slab of clay, not with a pottery wheel. The slab-building technique involves rolling out clay to an even thickness, then cutting shapes, folding, bending, manipulating, and joining together to form a finished object. The second session will consist of using different glazes to “paint” the vase. After glazing, the vase will be fired and ready to be picked up in a week.
Michelle Cuevas was born in New Mexico but has lived in Texas almost 50 years. She learned her craft, in part, from local ceramic artist icons Roger Allen and Millicent and Jeremy Bundick. She has been “playing in the mud” for more than 25 years.

This list is by no means complete! The list was partially taken from Angelo State University Community Service - Volunteer Opportunities.
Today you may be the person with the ability to help, but tomorrow you may be the recipient of someone else's volunteer effort. Part of being a great volunteer is loving what you're doing. Find something that you're passionate about or something that inspires you, and then find a need in your community. There are dozens of reasons why you should volunteer - you just need to find the one that feels right. With busy lives, it can be hard to find time to volunteer. However, the benefits of volunteering are enormous to you, your family, and your community. San Angelo is such an amazing place ot live and it takes so many to keep our quality of life going. Call these or any other organizations to start volunteering today! And plan on making it a family affair when possible in order to teach your kids the importance of giving back!!!
