SAADIYAAT ISLAND

A Journey Through the Arts

The proposed Culture Park will represent two distinct zones, the traditional classic art zone and the contemporary zone which interlace through a pedestrian journey both from the basement level to the park ground level.

The modern and classic zones will intertwine through the landscape park level, creating a one of kind assemblage of art collection, creating an “Art Journey” inside the park. This “Art Journey” will transcend through different periods of art and how it evolves from the early classic art to the modern and contemporary art now.

The park will feature an “Art Journey” with locations for outdoor public art and art installation that will be curated both by Guggenheim Abu Dhabi (GAD) and Louvre Abu Dhabi (LAD) Museums. These artworks will vary from historical, cultural to the contemporary era.

AL SILA

Regional Context

Al Dhafra Region known until 2017 as “Al Gharbia” or the “Western Region” is one of three Municipal Regions in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. Forming the western part of the United Arab Emirates, it is by far the largest region by area, occupying 71 % of the emirate’s total area, yet the smallest by population and population density, and thus a rather remote region of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, similar to the Eastern Region.

Shading Strategy

The purpose of the shade strategy is to increase outdoor thermal comfort during summer months in the public spaces and walkways. The proposed outdoor spaces shade strategy provides a high level calculation of shade to all paths, and gathering spaces within the community. For urban heat reduction,, 90% community hardscape (excluding roads) to either be shaded at 12pm or have a SRI value of 29 and 90% of the communities hardscape areas will be shaded by either street trees, or buildings at 12pm (summer solstice)

Open Space

Shading to outdoor office plaza and gathering spaces will be concentrated to areas where it will be of maximum benefit to thermal comfort. Light shade structures and canopy of shade trees will be placed to paths, lawns, and nodal seating.

NEOM COMMUNITY EXPANSION

The NEOM Community Expansion Master Plan is a comprehensive initiative aimed at enhancing the infrastructure and facilities of the NEOM region, with a focus on sustainability, innovation, and community integration. The expansion includes a wide array of residential, commercial, and public amenities, structured to create a balanced and thriving living environment.

The plan includes 733 residential units, with a mix of one-bedroom apartments and specially customized units for individuals with special needs. Office buildings, technology hubs, and public spaces are central components of the development. The office space alone covers 15,000 sqm, catering to the growing workforce.

One of the key highlights of the plan is the focus on sustainability. This is reflected in the integration of energy-efficient systems, such as demand-controlled ventilation and photovoltaic panels for renewable energy. Additionally, smart community features are incorporated, including autonomous shuttle services, smart cabin controls, and digital community services accessible via mobile applications.

AL DHAHIR PARK

Al Dhahir Park, located in Al Ain, UAE, is a thoughtfully designed urban sanctuary that blends cultural and recreational spaces with sustainability principles. The park’s design focuses on providing a holistic experience for visitors, aiming to create a cultural journey that connects the community with nature, fitness, and education.

Key features of the park include a central Falaj water feature, a proposed urban wetland farm, and various activity zones that cater to diverse groups. The weekend market areas and central events lawn offer spaces for public gatherings, fostering social interaction and community engagement. Recreational facilities such as sports courts, an urban skate park, and a children’s play area ensure that the park serves as a fitness and activity hub for residents.

Additionally, the park is designed to support a cultural and educational experience, with elements like the souk boulevard, F&B retail outlets, and the mosque providing cultural integration. The landscape vision is aligned with the Al Ain Vision 2030, promoting an attractive and functional space that exceeds client expectations. Al Dhahir Park aims to be a key community asset by encouraging outdoor recreation, supporting wellness, and integrating cultural urbanism into the fabric of Al Ain, offering a unique destination for both residents and visitors.

REFABRICATION OF AL MANARA

Research shows that people living in the developing world trust their churches, mosques and temples more than any other institution. For such people, faith is vital to shaping the attitudes, beliefs and practices that lay the foundation for everyday life.

Faith unites people as a community, gives them strength, breeds hope, and inspires social justice as well as the perseverance to improve themselves and their lives.

The provision of an islamic garden next to each mosque acts as a community centre that can enhance the lives of the residents as the mosque is an important part of their daily routine. The passive park allows the residents of Islamic nature to interact with each other before or after their religious practices.
