PERFORMANCE NOTE:
This is the first part of a larger string quartet involving resonating snare drums.
The music is quiet and built primarily of cadences, silences, and repeated gestures.
It is in six short parts. Quartet Movement is dedicated to the Spektral Quartet.

circular bowing on indicated pitches. The resulting sound should be whispy and pitchless.
‘Frey harmonics’ - very lightly mute indicated pitch one half step above to attenuate harmonics. The resulting sound should be muted, like hearing a distant sound through a dense fog.

General notes:
String playing should be always without vibrato.
Digital sounds are limited to sine waves, noise (with various colorations and tuned resonance). Strings should blend with digital sound when possible, both in dynamic and timbre.
