EGIORUM. We are descended from royalty thus we are royals. Yet we so often forget we are queens and kings. But let us remember this in the face of adversity, injustice, and prejudice. Let us face those who cast judgments with strength and grace. Let us teach them where we have come from. Let us show them where we are going. Our Past makes us, but does not define us.

emris collection

Introduced to the world of fashion through her healing process, Nkemakonam Linda Guyse has found herself deeply invested in using Kemris brand to celebrate sexual child abuse survivors. She is an emerging designer known for telling survival tales with her collections. Having immersed herself in fashion for nearly two years, she has worked hard to unveil her first collection titled “Unbreakable; illustrating strength and bravery. As a Nigerian born globalist, you will see a touch of her roots, travel and survival in her beautiful pieces.

h O Lou

My name is Fisayo Quadri and I am the founder of Oh Lou. In my 18 years of life, the one that has remained constant is my desire to make a positive difference through fashion. Oh Lou is a handmade accessory line that helps end childhood hunger in America via the Silver Spoon Initiative. For every accessory sold, one food item is donated to a local food bank in the Washington DC metropolitan area. The inspiration from this collection came from my desire to recognize the qualities that make each female goregous. To me, soft and hard can

be interpreted as the balance between childlike innocence and fearless spunk. Each accessory in this reflects the celebration of internal and external beauty that women possess. www.LoveOhLou.com “Buy an accessory, give a necessity.

T

ragic

My art work is a reaction to my environment and the happenings in my day to day life. Tragic Twenties is a collection of Spring/Fall transitional wear inspired by the places in my neighborhood. The clashing textures of materials, deconstructed technique, and chaotic prints represent my perception of my neighborhood, Wilkinsburgh, in its pre-gentrified state. People all over “rep their sets” and wear the stigmas of neighborhoods much like clothing. This is where I come from––no matter how far away life takes me.

In my line, I focused on the concept of wearable sustainability. Using common house-hold and industrial materials to create wearable works of art, I hope to promote sustainabilty through fashion. One man’s trash is another’s treasure and in this line, anything salvageable can be remade into new clthing pieces. I focused on using cable ties, cotton balls, industrial tubing and vinyl duct to create a monochrome, futuristic line of wearable art.

ersus

III

VERSUS III is the third preimere line of VERSUS his + her apparel. VERSUS is a custom graphic apparel made by Vanessa Branch and Sam Sanders. VERSUS is inspired by the individual, and designed for the original. VERSUS is builds on retro and nostalgic styles by using expressive, and culturally iconic images. We are inspired by those who want to define their own style; those who break the mold. We embrace the classic while designing tomorrow. Yeah, it’s all that.

V

ersus LUX

VERSUS: lux is a new modernization of the “Urban Greek Mythology. lux embodies the strength, grace, passion, and power of the mythical gods through regal colors and dynamic textures. Each piece tells a small part of the story of love and war through the eyes of Aphrodite and Ares. lux pushes the contrast between style and grace by using bold pieces such as massive hoodies and metallic warmups against flowing gowns and light crop tops. lux seamlessly merges soft and hard with modern cuts and classical silhouettes.

U

nbri dled Youth

Unbridled Youth is Matt Hillman’s debut into the world of fashion. All six pieces have a heavy denim influence and are cut and sewn from repurposed fabric to create a modern urban mood. The oversized tees, ripped bottoms, and general sense of chaos of pieces , in their own unusual way, represent the perfect imperfection that is youth and the freedom we have to take risks and embrace our creativity.
