The proposed project draws parallels from the amusing game “Hide and Seek” by establishing an open dialogue between the indoors and the outdoors and providing opportunities for introverted and extroverted learning for the children. The design aims to establish interrelation of the indoor and outdoor spaces. The design also explores the potential of stone as a material by utilizing the stone “walls as room”, as strucure and as climate responsive material. The Wall is envisioned to be a niche, room, circulation, ventilation and source to bring in light.

A module was developed as a centralized space for more inclusive class interactivity, hence a circle within a square plan initiated opportunites to enclose functionalities within the remainder spaces of the thick walls while they also support the structure. The plan is developed organically around existing trees and enclose diagonal courtyards. Levels are established to distinguish and differentiate the functionalies of the space.

Lake Front Market & Ghat
Udaipur, Rajasthan
The site is situated on the northwestern edge of Swaroop Sagar Lake. With tourism thriving in the city, residential development has been sidelined, leaving limited recreational and open spaces for local residents. Hence, the development has shifted primarily to accommodating tourists, often at the expense of the local community’s needs. This intervention aims to restore a balance by creating accessible open spaces for locals, enhancing social interaction, and fostering a renewed sense of belonging.
Key site issues addressed include:
1. Poorly maintained pedestrian pathways, making them largely unusable.
2. Insufficient public spaces, leading to traffic congestion during community events.
3. Pollution and littering along the lake edge due to inactivity and neglect.
4. Undesignated open areas near the lake being used for parking and temporary markets, despite their potential as valuable public spaces.
Vernacular Considerations
Cozy Streets, Sloped pathways and river facing views- These are the concepts that have been extracted from existing fabric and adapted in the proposal.
After analyzing the site study, three root causes were identified as the primary contributors to the area’s deteriorating condition. One of the major issues is accessibility. The existing terrain features steep slopes descending towards the lake edge, with sparsely built, compact, and low-rise housing. Poor planning and an unstructured road hierarchy lead to uneven traffic distribution, further exacerbating congestion. Additionally, the river’s edge remains largely unutilized due to limited access points, restricting connectivity and potential engagement with the waterfront.

A Monument
Cultural Landmark
Vadodara, Gujarat
Vadodara also known as “Sanskari Nagri” or “The city of culture” is rapidly developing , which in turn has led the city lose its “Identity”. The proposal addresses the different types of Public spaces in Vadodara and the issues related to it. By drawing parallels from immediate context of Heritage public hotspots, the proposal caters to the students of Maharaja Sayajirao University and the residents of the city. The Architectural proposal of a Cultural Landmark is envisioned to be served as an Urban-level monumental civic space for commercial and social exchange for the city of Vadodara.
The selected land is strategically placed
Conceptual Visualization
The site has an area of 34,650 sqm. The design focused on retaining all the trees on the site and converting those spots into open green spaces. The meandering streets branches from one playful street and encloses the green spaces through paths and connects to spaces like Museum, Market, Multi purpose hall, Sports center and Observation Tower.

” The cultural center aspires to become a new landmark for the emerging generation of Baroda, reflecting its evolution into a progressive and thriving institutional and academic hub reminiscent of its historical pioneer.“
Above: Blown up view of activity on playful walls
The diagrams above are analysis of the site, namely- Institutional building analysis, building type analysis, Ownership of spaces and Hierarchy of open spaces.
The city’s open spaces are predominantly used as multi-purpose maidans, leaving little room for designated public spaces. Many of these maidans are privately owned, further limiting accessibility.
The dense old city fabric lacks sufficient open areas for spillover, restricting public interaction and movement. Additionally, heritage buildings remain largely inaccessible, reducing opportunities for cultural engagement.

ToptoBottom: Proposed Plan, Section AA’ across the site.
The planning approach sought to establish an institutional design language infused with traditional elements such as jharokhas, arches, and vaults, reminiscent of Baroda’s historic architecture. To balance the formality of the institutional character with a sense of vibrancy, the design integrates a dynamic street-facing edge that interacts with the existing food street.
A key intent was to break through the rigid boundary defined by the existing compound wall, transforming it into an interactive and engaging element. This reimagined wall serves not only as a threshold but as an experience—one that activates the street, celebrates community engagement, and enriches the spatial dialogue between the institute and its surroundings.

Bhidosa Village, MP
The intent of the programme was to address the lack of sports opportunities in the village. A larger issue is the isolation of the village and h ence it leads to many other problems so by introduction of a programme. By analysing the living patterns of the villagers, one can notice that the people spend most of their time in semi open and open spaces spaces and the built spaces are used as shelter and storage space.
The project aims to second as a public space and a platform for sports players to be in a fabric where maximum interaction
Modulation in plinths forms a street profile . The street is a common interactive space
Climatic Considerations

Village Community Hall
Bhidosa Village, MP
The daily activities of people in Bhidosa take place in more social spaces like the plinth, semi-open spaces and open spaces in front of their house. So in order to provide the same feeling for a public building, The semi open spaces and courtyard are articulated in front of the Hall.
The Hall is placed in a Chauraha which is usually busy during the day . The court yard opens out from the front but is still restricted fro the back with the jaali wall.
Area- 70 Sq.m
Materials used- Local materials like stone for walls and plinth, Kota stone for oatla, Mangalore tiles and wood for roof, Wood for columns.
Climatic Considerations
Passive techniques used like Jali walls, and teracotta vertical Louvers
The existing streets are the social place for people here hence, the hall was made in conjunction with that . The semi -open spaces open out to the street on one side and courtyard on another side. Stone jaali on the north facade helps to take soothing morning light while also providing climatic comfort by keeping interiors cool.

Pol House Documentation
The houses have a typical typology having brick infill shared walls and timber framed structure which can sustain seismic activities. The structure is an amalgamation of different components and systems which are crafted together to form a framework namely - roof, courtyard, walls , column-beam system and facade system.
The epitome of enriched heritage , House 1990 is a residence of 9 people in the very narrow street of Jada Bhagat Ni Pol, opposite Chhipa Ni Pol in Old city. It is a three storied building and was constructed in 1872 .
The house facade embodies simplicity and has shared walls by houses on both the longitudinal sides. Two streets that run parallel along the transverse sides, the back and front of the house.
The residence 1990 gets shaded by the house in front of it and the major source of light - courtyard lets the light in. The residents in presence currently are a family of 9 members and have inherited this house by their ancestors who also built it. The males of the family run a pant shop and use the less aproachable areas of the house as storage
Materials like timber and stone help keep the interiors cool against the climate of ahmedabad. Timber is used for the facades, chajjas, door window frames and panels and have intricately carved motifs on it.
