This project was a study of the consumer experience and how people move and interact with spaces. In this project, the site is on the Vitra Campus in Germany and the building is a showroom for chairs that can be looked at and then purchased at the end of the visit. In today’s world, a store can be much more than a building with shelves of products. For this showroom, it emphasizes unique forms and spaces in order to guide the consumer through the building for a unique experience.

This project was done in an effort alongside Michael Wade. Our understanding of history evolves over time, along with our views on it. Designing a history center presented a major question about how we should treat history and how it should be presented and perceived in an architectural manner. The inclusion of landscape also allowed the design to consider the relationship between the two and how altering one will ultimately impact the other and generate different emotions because of it.

The House has become more than just a unit to live in. Today, many people consider their home their primary place to work as well. This project was designed as a duplex with two tenants, one employer and one employee, who work together in a shared studio space. Franklinton, just outside of Columbus, Ohio, is a site that presented issues of working at a small scale and utilizing as much space as you can as well as connecting the building with the rest of the larger area of Columbus.

This design charrette asked the designer to consider the social implications that the built environment can have. In this case, the bridge is seen as a connecting piece between two neighborhoods that have been divided through the construction of railroads and the Interstate Highway System. Reuniting the neighborhood of Linden to Clintonville within the broader City of Columbus through a pedestrian walkway is important in undoing some of the harm done through projects of the past.

What is expected out of housing has changed in recent history. With urbanism being at the forefront, this housing project creates a strong difference between above and below by separating the private and public. On the urban scale, the public space encourages engagement through open, communal spaces with views upward while the private living spaces create a patchwork of units that prioritize views outward and terraced outdoor spaces.

Partnered with Ben Johnson, this project looks into innovative workspaces and how they interact with each other. WeWork was used as a template for program including Maker Spaces, adaptable office space, as well as a day care, supermarket, cafe, and gym. The collective nature of the work spaces allow for connectivity through section and dynamic views between levels. The office spaces also allow for spaces that can be used for many different functions, depending on the current tenants.

I have been fortunate enough to have had the opportunity to work on some incredibly rewarding design opportunities in the medical sector. I have been at the lead in efforts such as model building as well as creating the content that would be compiled into presentations such as renderings, presentation plans, sections, and elevations. And wrapping up the process I have been able to gain valuable experience in construction with being on site and coordinating during construction administration.
