Nicodemus Meets with Jesus
Help the sheep go to
God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son. Anyone who believes in Him will not die but will have eternal life. God did not send His Son into the world to judge the world. He sent His Son to save the world through Him. —John 3:16-17
It’s no secret that God loves us. In fact, He loves us so much that He put Jesus on earth to save us and teach the world about the goodness of God. Believing in God means that we have a special place in heaven by His side. What does this mean?

Hi kids!
This week we celebrate Mother’s Day—a special day to show love for our moms and all the wonderful mother figures in our lives.
My mom has been a great role model for me. She has always helped me, encouraged me, cared for and protected me. She taught me how to read, ride a bicycle, be kind to others and have faith in Jesus. But it isn’t just moms that can be role models. I can think of many women who have made a big impact in my life, such as my grandmothers, aunts, cousins, close friends, teachers and women at church. I am thankful for all of them!
In this issue of Just for Kids, you will read about the birth of Moses, who was once separated from his mother, but brave women stepped up to care for him. Moses grew up to be a very important person who did great things for God.

1. Give her a hug and tell her you love her.
2. Make a card or poster to show you are glad she’s your mom.
3. Let her choose her favourite movie or TV show to watch. Don’t interrupt while she watches it.
4. Make her a cup of tea or hot chocolate and serve it in her favourite mug.
5. Do a chore, such as putting away your toys and clothes (before she asks).
How Will You Say Thank You to Mom?
God’s people, the Israelites, were slaves in Egypt. Pharaoh, the king, was afraid they would become too powerful, so he made a wicked plan. He told the midwives (women who help deliver babies) to kill the Israelite baby boys. The midwives knew this was wrong, so they didn’t.
An Israelite woman named Jochebed had a son. She didn’t want him to die, so she hid him in a basket in the river.
Jochebed had her daughter, Miriam, watch over him.
Pharaoh’s daughter came down to the river and saw the basket. She asked her servant to see what was inside.
Miriam bravely spoke to the princess.
Miriam ran to call her mother. Jochebed cared for Moses until he was three years old. God had taken special care of him because He had an important job for Moses to do.

Hi kids!
When I was younger, I was part of the singing company at my church. Every week, we would learn new songs about Jesus and practise singing them together. Once in a while, we would stand up on the platform on Sunday morning and sing our songs in front of the congregation.
I practised singing a lot at home. I liked to sing along to the radio in the car or around my house, but singing at church was different and I was often nervous to sing in front of other people. My singing company leader told me not to be anxious because we are singing for God.
It is important to share our gifts with others. Whatever gift or talent that God has given you, whether it is singing, playing an instrument, telling jokes or drawing pictures, do not be afraid to use it. Be confident and use your gifts for God!

Money Makers
Abusinessman brought two employees in for a meeting.
“I want to expand my business,” he told them. “I’m going to give each of you some money. Use it wisely.” He gave the first employee $1,000 and the second $500.
The first one used the money to buy ice cream, waffle cones and popsicles. She set up an icecream stand at a local beach and sold them. She made $2,000.
But the second employee put the money in an envelope and hid it in his room.
Three months later, the businessman called the employees back for another meeting. He wanted to see how they were doing.
To the first employee, he said, “I’m impressed! I’m going to promote you to a better job.”
When the businessman asked the second one what he did with the money, the employee started making excuses. “I know you’re a tough boss,” he said. “I was afraid of you, so I hid the money in my room.”
“What?” the boss said. “How could you have been so lazy?”
The businessman told him to give the $500 to the first employee. Then he said, “I’m sorry—you have no place at this company anymore.” And the employee left the office.
Like the businessman, God gives each one of us abilities and talents—things we are good at. Whatever our gifts may be, God wants us to use them for Him.
Don’t be like the employee who did nothing with the money his boss gave him. How can you use your talents for God this week?
I’m sure you’ve heard the word “disciple” before at church. Do you know what it means?
A disciple is someone who follows God and learns from Him, such as how students learn from their teachers at school. In the Bible, we learn about Jesus’ disciples. He had 12 of them and they were all given a special task—to listen to Jesus and go out into the world and spread His messages to others.
Like a team of soccer or hockey players, Jesus’ disciples worked together toward a common goal. Jesus was like their coach, guiding them and teaching them about God so that they could tell others about the good news of God’s love. Who can you tell about God?

John’s Disciples Follow Jesus
John 1:35-42
One day, John the Baptist was standing with two of his friends. When he saw Jesus walking by, he pointed and said, “Look! There is the Lamb of God!”
John’s two friends were curious, so they followed Jesus. When Jesus noticed them, He turned around and asked, “What do you want?”
They said, “Teacher, where are you staying?”
Jesus smiled and said, “Come and see!”
So, they went with Him and spent the whole day with Jesus. One of those men was Andrew. He was so excited that he ran to find his brother, Peter, and told him, “We have found the Messiah!” (which means “God’s chosen one.”)
From that moment on, Peter, Andrew and the others began to follow Jesus. They didn’t know it yet, but Jesus had big plans for them!

Hi kids!
Art is one of my favourite hobbies—I love to draw, paint and make crafts. I’ve even started going to classes in my community to learn how to make pottery, items such as mugs and vases made from clay. It is so fun to be creative! When I am making art, I feel happy and close to God, because I am using a skill that He gave to me.
When do you feel close to God? Maybe it’s when you’re praying or learning about God at church. Maybe it’s during your walk to school when you see all the nature and wonderful things God has made. Some people feel close to God when they are reading the Bible, singing songs, writing or spending time with family. Others, such as Salvation Army officers, feel close to God when they are preaching or helping people.
There are so many great ways that we can connect with God—and through that connection, amazing things can happen! In this issue of Just for Kids, you will learn about a woman who was healed just by touching Jesus.

TJesus Heals a Sick Woman
here was a woman who had been sick for 12 years. She had gone to many doctors, but no one could help her. She had spent all the money she had. But she was getting worse, not better. Then she heard about Jesus and believed that He could heal her. When Jesus was walking through a big crowd, she reached out and touched His robe. She thought, I just need to touch His clothes. Then I will be healed.
Right away, she felt better! Jesus stopped and asked, “Who touched Me?” The woman was scared at first, but she bravely came forward and told Jesus what had happened. Jesus was kind to her and said, “Dear woman, your faith has healed you. Go in peace. You are free from your suffering.”
