hat’s the most amazing city you’ve ever been to?
Perhaps you’ve spent a day exploring London, taken a trip to Paris or had a fab holiday in Tokyo. No matter how brilliant those cities might be, it’s time to return to a city that’s even more magnificent – Zootropolis!
In many ways, Zootropolis is just like any other city you might visit. There are skyscrapers, plenty of cafés and far too much traffic. However, one thing makes Zootropolis stand out from anywhere else – it’s the home of talking animals!
Two of these animals are a bunny called Judy Hopps and a fox called Nick Wilde. Judy and Nick are detectives in the ZPD (Zootropolis Police Department), and they’ve recently become partners. Although they’re great at solving crimes, they’ve realised that being part of a team can be tricky.
After discovering the first snake to be seen in Zootropolis in 100 years, Judy and Nick are plunged into an adventure that will unravel the city’s greatest secret. They even find themselves on the run, while a powerful family known as the Lynxleys try to track them down. To make it to the end of this adventure in one piece, Judy and Nick will definitely need to learn how to work together!
You can watch ‘Zootropolis 2’ in cinemas from Friday 28 November
Police partners Judy and Nick are about as different as you can get. However, despite their differences, their partnership seems to work. That doesn’t mean that the pair don’t face challenges – there are plenty as they try to solve a new case in Zootropolis 2! To overcome their challenges and solve this case, Judy and Nick will need to work together. This is when we get to see that the different strengths Judy and Nick have actually make them a stronger team. With teamwork, these two can achieve anything! It’s the same for us too. We can’t overcome all our challenges on our own. We need help from others around us. In fact, in a book of the Bible called Romans a man named Paul says that just like all the parts of our bodies have different purposes, God has given us all different gifts. When we use our different gifts and work together, we can achieve amazing things too!
HKeep on Going
ave you ever worked really hard for csomething, but it didn’t work out the way you hoped? Maybe you studied for a big test, tried to get on to a team or stood up for someone and it didn’t go as planned. That can feel really disappointing, right? Sometimes when things don’t work out, we just want to give up.
In this week’s Bible story, Elijah felt the same way. After showing everyone that God is real and powerful on Mount Carmel, Elijah had to run for his life. Queen Jezebel was after him and Elijah felt scared, tired and completely alone.
Thankfully, God showed up and met Elijah with some TLC – tender, loving care. He gave Elijah food and water to help him get his strength back, and led him to a quiet mountain to rest. Then God

spoke to Elijah – not in a loud wind or fire, but in a gentle whisper. That whisper reminded Elijah that God was still with him and that he wasn’t alone.
The wonderful thing is that God is gentle and patient with us too. He knows when we’re tired, sad or ready to give up. And just like with Elijah, he is always ready to meet us with kindness and gentle care.
So whatever challenges you might face, tell God all about them! Even when it feels like he’s far away, God is actually very close. Sometimes we just need to stop, be still and listen for his gentle whisper in our hearts. When we do, we’ll find strength, hope and courage to keep going, because God is with us every step of the way.

Bumper Bible Breakdown
Did you know the Bible isn’t one big book? It’s actually 66 books put together to tell one big story of God’s great love. Join us as we look at each Bible book and discover why God made the world, what went wrong and how in the end God saved the world through his son, Jesus.
Trouble in Thessalonica
After Paul wrote his letter to the Christians living in Thessalonica, their lives didn’t get any easier. People still treated them terribly, and they were really suffering for following Jesus!
So Paul wrote another letter to encourage the church in Thessalonica. He praised them for still following Jesus and for loving one another. He also encouraged them to remember that God would one day punish the people who harmed them. Plus, Paul reminded the church that he was praying for them!
Paul also wrote that the Christians in Thessalonica should be ready for Jesus to one day return from Heaven – and to not believe people who’d said he already had. Instead, they should continue to stand firm in the teachings of Jesus, waiting for him to come back! They should work hard and never become tired of doing good things.

Problem...?
? ? ? ? ? ?
HELLO, READERS, I’VE LOST A VERY IMPORTANT OBJECT SOMEWHERE IN THE ISSUE. WOULD YOU BE ABLE TO HELP ME FIND IT? I HAVE A CLUE OF WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE HERE.
Cartoonist and Writer!
My name’s Andy Robb and I’m a cartoonist and writer – I write and draw the Patch’s Pals comic strips in Kids Alive! I’ve loved drawing for as long as I can remember, and I always enjoyed copying the cartoon characters in the comics I read. Maybe you like copying the Patch’s Pals characters. I also liked reading, so it’s no surprise that I write books as well. These days I actually have two jobs, one of which is leading a church with my wife. I still spend a couple of days a week writing and drawing, sometimes for Kids Alive! or sometimes writing and illustrating Christian children’s books. I’m very fortunate that I never have ‘writer’s block’ (which means someone struggles to know what to write) – my brain is always full of new ideas!
The best thing about my job is creating something new – that might be drawing a cartoon or writing a story. Whether it’s putting pencil to paper or tapping away on my computer, it’s always exciting seeing something being created before my eyes. I’m very grateful to God for the gift of creativity.
If you want to be an artist, then just keep practising by copying other people or experimenting with different artistic materials. In time you’ll develop your own style. To be a writer you also need to be a reader. Books help with spelling, vocabulary and imagination.
Why did the fox chase the rabbit? It fancied some
by Neil Locker
What do you call a fox with a carrot in each ear?
Anything you want, it can’t hear you!
Why is a coin similar to a rabbit?
Because it has a head on one end and a tail on the other!
Why did the koala eat so much eucalyptus? It couldn’t leaf it alone!
What did the rabbit say to the piece of wood? ‘It was nice gnawing you!’
What’s a fox’s favourite dance?
The foxtrot!
Why should you never use a snake as a boomerang?
Because it will always come back to bite you!
Why do zebras have stripes? Because they don’t want to be spotted!
Ho ho, ha ha, he he! He he, he he!

IPet Hotel Competition
f you have a pet, imagine what it would be like to take it on a holiday! Perhaps you’d take it to stay near a nice beach, or in a little cottage next to a park. Or, if you really wanted to spoil it, you might go to a pet hotel, which is a hotel that’s just for … you guessed it – pets! Christmas Kindness
In almost exactly a month’s time, it will be Christmas Day! We love Christmas at Kids Alive! – we really enjoy learning about the Christmas story and celebrating it with our families and friends. For us, Christmas can be summed up with one word – brilliant!
However, for people who are going through a hard time, struggling to afford food or experiencing loneliness, Christmas might not feel particularly brilliant. That’s why we want to encourage all our readers (including you, reading this issue right now) to share the joy of Christmas with those in need!
Be a Star
One way that you can do this is by taking part in something called Be a Star. Don’t get confused by the name – you won’t need to paint your face with sparkly glitter or pretend that you’re living in space!
Instead, Be a Star (which is run by The Salvation Army, who publish Kids Alive!) is all about doing something fantastic to raise money for people who are struggling at Christmas.
Fantastic Fundraising
Put on a Christmassy bake sale, with lots of festive treats. There are so many different things that you can do to raise money for Be a Star. You can…
Ask your church to organise a Christmas Jumper Day, which is when everyone wears a Christmas jumper and gives some money.
Go carolling with some friends, and then donate any money you receive.
Take on a tricky challenge, such as running or walking a long distance. People can sponsor you, and the money they give can then be donated!
Money raised for The Salvation Army can help provide hot meals, safe and warm shelter, food parcels or Christmas gifts.
You’re Not Alone
After reading some of these ideas, you might be wondering whether fundraising for Be a Star will need lots of hard work. We’re not going to lie to you – to take part in Be a Star, you’d need to be willing to really give it your all. However, you wouldn’t be alone!
The Salvation Army wants to support everyone who’s raising money, so they’ve put together special resources that anyone can use. To find out more, check out salvationarmy.org.uk/fundraise-christmas/be-a-star
Christmas Present Appeal
As well as taking part in Be a Star, you could also help to give Christmas presents to those in need! Every year, The Salvation Army runs something called the Christmas Present Appeal, which is when they ask people to donate presents to families that are struggling.
By taking part in the Christmas Present Appeal, you’ll be helping another kid to have a Christmas full of happiness and joy!
Presents for Everyone
Presents are given to children of many different ages. So you could get a teddy bear for a newborn baby, an action figure for a kid who’s your age or a book for a teenager!
One key rule is that any gift that’s given has to be brand new, which means that it won’t have been played with before. This is because The Salvation Army believes that every kid deserves to open a present that’s new at Christmas.
Giving Your Gift
Don’t worry – you won’t need to search for a kid to give your new present to! Instead, you can go to a local Salvation Army church or centre that’s taking part in the Christmas Present Appeal. Then you can give your present to them, and they’ll even wrap the gift for you!
To find out more about the kind of gifts you could give and places where you can donate them, head to salvationarmy.org.uk/christmas-present-appeal
Before 29 November, gifts can also be bought and donated at the Entertainer toy shops. For every toy you buy to donate, The Entertainer will also give a toy to The Salvation Army – find out more at thetoyshop.com/big-toy-appeal
Show love and kindness to others this Christmas!
