Instrumental Music
The Lancer Marching Band performed their show, Amor, at numerous football games and at four marching band competitions. The Maroon & Gold Jazz Band performed a Christmas concert at La Encantada, inviting several string orchestra members to join in and entertain. The Jazz Band wowed attendees with their set to open the spring fine arts festival. The String Orchestra performed magically at the Lady Lancer Brunch and Blessing and at the spring fine arts festival highlighting a diverse repertoire and increased sophistication. The spring fine arts festival debuted a new Percussion Ensemble that grew out of the growing drumline and percussion class. This year-end festival was also the debut of a symphonic composition by the director, Jim Howell, entitled La Cienega. The six minute piece, arranged by Mr. Howell and Bryce Rosen ’24, was influenced by local Tucson flavors including mariachi strings and trumpets.
