Bijan Robinson ’20 Brings His Faith to the NFL

Salpointe’s own Bijan Robinson has had an extraordinary football career, and he’s just getting started! After setting an Arizona state record in rushing (7,036 yards and 114 touchdowns) and being selected to play in the 2020 All-American Bowl, Bijan headed to the University of Texas as a five-star recruit. During his college career, he was unanimously named an All-American and won the Doak Walker Award for best running back in the nation. Bijan was selected by the Atlanta Falcons as the eighth overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft and will be cheered on by Lancers and Longhorns across the country during his first preseason NFL game on August 11, 2023.

When asked in 2022 about his goals, Bijan responded, “I just want to be the best teammate and player that I can be for this team, this university, my family and God.” Bijan’s faith is shared in each interview he gives, where he thanks God for the good in his life, expresses his trust in God’s plan and clearly intends to bring his faith with him to the NFL. In an interview with ESPN shortly after the NFL Draft, Bijan said, “For me, my heart is out there for everybody and I’m going to bring my faith, my positivity, my happiness and smile to every fan, every teenager, every adult, everybody out there, so I hope they accept me for me. It’s going to be a great time.”
Bijan’s grandmother, Gerri Robinson, credits his faith, determination, discipline and passion for his success. “Bijan always kept his eyes on the prize and made sure he did the things he needed to do to get where he wanted to go.” The four year-old boy who once introduced himself as “Bijan Robinson and I’m in the NFL” is now a faith-filled young man who has not only reached his athletic goals, but serves his community as a role model to those around him.
Salpointe congratulates Bijan, a young man of God who shows us his kindness, optimism and talent every day. We are proud of you and pray for your success and happiness.
