Hair Extension Home Care

Congratulations! You have the hair of your dreams...now let's make sure you take proper care of it!

Here are, my tips, tricks and "must do's"

Brushing If you hair is a little tangled, hold a small section of your hair and begin brushing from the bottom and work your way up.

It is extremely important that you don't tug or pull on the rows as it can cause damage to the hair and your bio hair.

Another tip is to hold the tops of the weft nearest the attachment points while brushing tangles out of the hair.

Brushing thoroughly is very important! It helps to prevent matting...and no one wants matted hair!

Shampooing Use only sulphate and paraben free professional products.

Wet hair completely, dispense shampoo in your hand, rub your hands together to begin foaming process . You may want to start on the lengths of your hair first, but DON'T rub vigorously, massage the product in to your hair, scrubbing is not necessary and can create tangles.

Gently clean between rows using you fingertips to massage your scalp.

Rinse well and condition.

Here are my faves and recommendations: Wet Brush (all varieties) ILES FORMULA Unite haircare NEVER SKIMP ON PRODUCT...YOU'VE INVESTED A LOT....TAKE GOOD CARE OF YOUR EXTENSIONS! (It can be the difference of replacing hair in 6 months versus 9 months!)

Drying After applying recommended leave in detangler, serum or oil completely detangle your hair.

Apply styling products and begin drying from the scalp down through the lengths of the hair.

You may need to get some clips for this step, sectioning as your go is a game changer and can really speed up the process!

Avoid "tornado" Blow drying...it's rough on your hair and will not result in a smooth result.

Never use a round brush until hot hairis 80% dry and tangle free.

Styling Have fun and be adventurous!

Curling your new hair may require some practice, so go easy on yourself if you can't make it all perfect and wavy right away!

Always start at the mid shaft and curl towards the scalp first while leaving the ends out.

I recommendand long barrel iron, it is the essential for long, beachy waves.

Sleeping Never go to bed with wet hair!!

This will always end in disaster! I love a loose braid or braids for longer hair and a loose top knot for medium length. Just don't leave it all down while seeping as this can cause tangling Investing in a silk pillowcase is good idea as well, they are great for all hair types and for your skin!

Excerisizng & Swimming

In the first week after your new install, be careful when pulling hair into a ponytail, at this point the beads are closest to your scalp and too much tension can cause discomfort and possibly damage.

After that feel free to put your hair in a ponytail or bun.

Clients wearing 22" hair will be more comfortable with low ponytails and buns due to the added weight of your attached hair.

Before swimming in either the ocean or pool please thoroughly wet and condition your hair. Apply a leave in conditioner to the ends and secure in a braid or bun. Rinse with fresh water as soon as possible, condition and detangle. Regular swimming and exposure to chemicals from pool water can damage the hair and shorten the life of the hair as well.

A side note regarding sunscreen...There is an ingredient called Avobenzone in most sunscreens that will cause your precious investment to turn orange!!

Pease read labels and avoid this at all cost!!
