Moroccanoil Vice-President of Global Education The journey of the Moroccanoil Professional Haircolor Collection began more than three years ago. We knew color was something we wanted to do, however we wanted to bring something different to the market. We worked closely with a worldrenowned chemist from Italy to bring our beautiful new haircolor to life while staying true to who we are as a brand. Working on the education side, performance really matters to me. I wanted to make sure that our haircolor was developed with innovation and a unique point of difference from the competition, which is maintaining the integrity of the hair. Whenever you put chemicals onto hair, there’s a level of damage that happens. So, we asked ourselves, how do we bring something to the market that repairs damage and protects the integrity of the hair? That’s what we’ve done with our proprietary ProArginine + ArganID ® System. It’s all about protecting the health, condition, and shine of the hair. Our haircolor does a great job of maintaining beautiful, healthy-looking hair while delivering all of the goodness of Moroccanoil Treatment (including the fragrance!) into a tube of color. With traditional haircolor, the tones can either be too green, gold, matte, cool, or warm. For us, it was about finding a balance of all of that and creating a haircolor line that doesn’t require any extra mixing of shades to create a true-to-tone, naturallooking result. We took every shade and formula and developed it in a unique way that reflects our taste in color. There’s not one thing that we missed to give hairstylists a complete haircolor journey and experience. Developing our Professional Haircolor Collection during the pandemic was a challenge, and we know many people who are still concerned about COVID so they won’t be as open to attending in-person education. For us, it was about creating the right education programs to give hairdressers access to the tools they need to succeed.

Warm Ombré STEP 1: Back-to-back foils. Apply Blonde Voyage Powder Lightener + 20 vol. Oxidative Cream Developer (mixing ratio 1:1.5). Check regularly and develop for up to 50 minutes. STEP 2: Once developed, rinse well and lightly shampoo and condition with Moroccanoil Blonde Perfecting Purple Shampoo and Conditioner. Towel-dry thoroughly. STEP 3: On the roots only apply Color Rhapsody Permanent Cream Color 7N/7.0 + 8C/8.4 + 9V/9.2 + 20 vol. Oxidative Cream Developer (mixing ratio 1:1). Once root color is applied, use a wide-tooth comb to stretch the color from the roots into the mid-lengths. Develop for 30 minutes. Rinse thoroughly with warm water to remove haircolor products. STEP 4: On towel-dried hair, starting approximately 1 inch behind the front hairline, apply Color Calypso Demi-Permanent Gloss 10VC/10.24 + 8C/8.4 + Clear + Gloss Activator (mixing ratio 1:1) along the root stretch. Gently work the color through the midlengths and ends using a wide-tooth comb. Visually develop for up to 20 minutes. Rinse thoroughly.
STEP 1: Using a mix of fine and thicker weaves throughout the hair, apply Blonde Voyage Clay Lightener + 20 vol. Oxidative Cream Developer (mixing ratio 1:1.5) to create different dimensions of lightness. Check regularly and develop for up to 30 minutes. Rinse thoroughly and lightly shampoo with Moroccanoil Blonde Perfecting Purple Shampoo. STEP 2: At the root area, apply Color Rhapsody Permanent Cream Color 7N/7.0 + 8Gy/8.8 + 9GC/9.34 + 20 vol. Oxidative Cream Developer (mixing ratio 1:1). Once color has been applied to the root area, use two different formulas to tone alternating sections. Formula 1: Color Rhapsody Permanent Cream Color 7N/7.0 + 8Gy/8.8 + 9GC/9.34 + 10 vol. Oxidative Cream Developer (mixing ratio 1:1). Formula 2: Color Calypso Demi-Permanent Gloss 8R/8.6 + 8C/8.4 + Clear + Gloss Activator (mixing ratio 1:1). Comb through individual sections with a wide-tooth comb for even product distribution. Check regularly and develop up to 20 minutes. Rinse thoroughly to remove haircolor products and lightly shampoo and condition with Moroccanoil Moisture Repair Shampoo and Conditioner.
STEP 1: Using a mix of different weaves, slices, and back-combing to create a more natural and varied blonde, apply Blonde Voyage Powder Lightener + 20 vol. Oxidative Cream Developer (mixing ratio 1:1.5) throughout the hair. Check regularly and develop for up to 50 minutes. Rinse thoroughly and lightly shampoo and condition with Moroccanoil Moisture Repair Shampoo and Conditioner. STEP 2: On towel-dried hair, apply Color Calypso Demi-Permanent Gloss 9VB/9.21 + Gloss Activator (mixing ratio 1:1) from roots to ends. Use a wide-tooth comb to evenly distribute product. Apply toner last to the front hairline, as this is the finest hair and fastest to develop. STEP 3: Root Shadow using Color Calypso Demi-Permanent Gloss 8N/8.0 + 8VB/8.21 + Gloss Activator (mixing ratio 1:1). Using a bowl and brush for greater control, apply over the toner, focusing only on the hairline and the parting. Check regularly and develop for up to 20 minutes. If needed, lightly shampoo and condition with Moroccanoil Moisture Repair Shampoo and Conditioner.

GREG GILMORE! To celebrate the launch of their Professional Haircolor Collection, Moroccanoil has announced their partnership with celebrity colorist Greg Gilmore. Based in Los Angeles, Gilmore has nearly 20 years of experience and has worked at some of the top Black salons in Los Angeles and Cleveland. Now, he’s known as one of the leading texture haircutting and color experts, working with celebrities such as Toni Braxton and Tiffany Haddish. “I really enjoy working with all hair types and textures,” he says. “Each texture has its own characteristics and behaviour. I was always doing color and I think it’s what set me apart—since it can be kind of difficult for textured hair—so through the practice of doing it repeatedly I was able to find different tips and secrets on how to make the process better, such as adding oil into the lightener.” With Moroccanoil’s proprietary ArganID ® infused into their haircolor and lighteners, Gilmore says they’re the products he’s been waiting for. “There were so many times that I actually wanted to give up on color because products weren't sufficient to execute on all textures, and that can be very discouraging,” he says. “Moroccanoil Blonde Voyage lighteners work so well. As a global ambassador, it’s a more expansive opportunity for me. Being an ambassador, I think it’s the perfect fit for me because I like to represent and share information, so it's kind of a nice gel. Now, I finally feel that I’ve found a home where I can be more open, diverse, and expand my creativity.”
