Basic Sculptural Welding & Metalworking Saturday, May 18 | 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Ages 18 years and older Register by May 11 Location: Salina Area Technical College, 2562 Centennial Rd. Fee: $30 In this class, you will transform sheet metal into a decorative steel flower to become the center point of your garden or a gift for a loved one. This class will be an opportunity to learn about basic welding technology and metalworking techniques. By cutting, shaping and working raw steel materials using heat and electricity, you will experience the fulfillment of producing a unique flower every time. At the end of this course, you will take your creation home to paint or let it weather the elements to achieve a rusty finish. Students will need to wear flame retardant (100 percent cotton) clothing and leather shoes or boots. Bring leather gloves. Salina Area Technical College (SATC) will loan students safety glasses for the day. Participants must be 18 or older.

Manual Lathe Turning Primer Wednesday, May 8, 15, 22 & 29 | 6:30-7:30 p.m. Ages 18 years and older Register by May 1 Location: Salina Area Technical College, 2562 Centennial Rd. Fee: $50 The lathe primer will focus on safe and correct setup and operation of a manual engine lathe, high-speed steel turning, carbide turning, grooving, facing, contouring, parting off, calculating speeds and feeds, and a brief introduction to manual threading. The majority of instruction will take place on the shop floor, though some reading may take place inside and outside of class. The coursework is intended for individuals who have the desire to learn manual turning as a stand-alone skill or as a compliment to existing mechanical skill. Students should bring pencils, calculators, paper and safety glasses. You will need to wear shop gloves, close-toed shoes and cotton, denim or canvas clothing. Participants must be 18 or older. Elm Fee: $20 per series This easy-to-follow program lets you get moving at your own speed. Zumba速 Gold is a fitness program designed to take exciting Latin and international dance rhythms created in the original Zumba速 and bring them to the active older adult, beginners or those not used to exercising. Created to emphasize the basics, Zumba速 Gold is guaranteed to provide you with a safe and effective total body workout. Elm Fee: $20 per series Are you looking for a lower-impact yoga class? In this weekly course, Melanie Back will teach you how you can breathe properly, stretch, strengthen and twist, all while seated. Not just for seniors, these yoga moves can also be used to relax and rejuvenate during the busy workday. Every Body Yoga Series 1: Mondays, May 13-June 10 | 6-7 p.m. Register by May 6 Series 2: Mondays, June 24-July 22 | 6-7 p.m. Register by June 17 Location: TBD Fee: $30 per series Balance and center yourself with an evening yoga asana class. Build a strong foundation in body awareness and alignment by allowing yourself to explore your own personal experience of yoga through inner focus and surrender. Creative hatha and vinyasa make this course great for beginning to intermediate levels. If needed, most poses can be modified to make your yoga practice rewarding.
