Salem Art Association Facts ...

The Salem Art Association (SAA) is a 501©3 non-profit arts organization that has been actively dedicated to providing arts and heritage programming in the Salem area for 93 years.

2

SAA provides art instruction to more than 18,000 students in Marion, Polk and Yamhill counties each year. Without this service, many students would have no exposure to arts education in public schools.

3

SAA offers free-of-charge, year round art exhibitions at the Bush Barn Art Center. Local, regional, national and international artists in three galleries are showcased in our gift gallery.

4

SAA operates the Bush House Museum, which was built in 1878 and houses an impressive collection of art, furniture and personal items belonging to the historical Bush family. The museum is further unique in that its interior has never been remodeled or renovated. The inside of this historic home remains just as it was more than 100 years ago when it was built.

SAA designs its services to meet the evolving needs in our community. Recently, this has meant developing a High School Arts Program that provides students mentoring opportunities with professional artists. SAA also has created Project Space, a temporary site in downtown Salem providing local and regional artists a space and forum to create, discuss and display experimental artwork.

6

The Salem Art Association has organized and hosted the Salem Art Fair & Festival (SAF&F)for 63 years. This one-of-a-kind event features art, music, hands-on kids’ art activities, local food and craft beer and wine. Fairgoers experience 200 artists’ booths, two music stages, more than 20 food booths and displays from more than 30 local arts organizations.

7

The Art Fair Sourcebook ranks the SAF&F as 11th in the nation out of nearly 1,400 art fairs and festivals. As a result of our excellent ranking, top-tier artists from around the country (and the globe) bring their fabulous artwork to Salem for everyone to enjoy and purchase.

8

The SAF&F is SAA’s main annual fundraiser which funds our community programs. SAA also receives support from sponsorships, grants, membership dues and donations. By attending the annual Salem Art Fair & Festival, you’re directly supporting the Salem Art Association and its ongoing community programming.

9

The Salem Art Fair & Festival is made possible in part by the generous support of our presenting sponsor, Spirit Mountain Casino. The SAF&F is also supported by more than 50 other sponsors, including Major donors Kettle Foods, Maps Credit Union, Hut Airport Shuttle, Valley Credit Union and the City of Salem. These sponsorships are an integral part of fostering arts in our community. We appreciate your support!

SAA thanks you for attending the Salem Art Fair & Festival. Without you, the SAF&F wouldn’t be one of the most fun and successful events in the Mid-Willamette Valley. You are the reason SAA has been a part of this community since 1919 and your support will allow us to continue to serve our community for years to come. Thank you.
