ANNUAL REPORT 2022
To enhance through philanthropy and stewardship the physical, social, and spiritual well-being of the Residents of Saint Simeon’s and their families.

To enhance through philanthropy and stewardship the physical, social, and spiritual well-being of the Residents of Saint Simeon’s and their families.
What a year! I have held this role for over a year now, and things look different professionally and personally In last year ' s annual report, I remarked that the future is bright here at Saint Simeon's 2022 was our shining example of why I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know many loyal donors over the last year and hearing their stories about Saint Simeon's and its impact on their lives. Those stories make Saint Simeon's what it is today; Tulsa's premiere senior retirement community
I want to acknowledge the dedicated individuals that show up day in and day out to provide the very best care to our Residents It starts with Angela Green, President of Saint Simeon's Home She and the entire staff show up no matter the circumstances to be there for our Residents. Additionally, our nursing team is second to none and deserves a ton of recognition for its dedication over the last few years.
If you have yet to hear by now, Western Days: Home on the Range was a wildly successful event raising over $874,000 Led by an incredible team of volunteers: Hilary Clark - Event Chair, Ross Swimmer - Patron Chair, Beth Brown - Auction Co-Chair, Melissa Stallcup - Auction Co-Chair, and Amy Dodson - Advisor
Thank you very much for helping plan an incredible event
Lastly, I'd like to thank our Trustees for their tireless work ethic, especially Phyllis Dotson and Mary Ann Hille, who are taking sabbaticals after 35 years of dedicated service to Saint Simeon's. They are pillars in our community, and we are forever grateful for their generosity and kindness to Saint Simeon's
On a personal note, my wife, Angela, and I recently welcomed two new members to our family, twin boys, at the end of December Shepherd and Sullivan are doing well, and big sister Sutton is the best helper
We are thrilled and excited about 2023, and I look forward to working with you this coming year to enhance Saint Simeon's and senior care in Tulsa.
Executive Director Saint Simeon's Foundation“Appreciation is a wonderful thing It makes what is excellent in others belong to us as well ” Voltaire
Today, I appreciate the myriad of ways the excellence of our donors has been the “red thread” woven into the story of Saint Simeon’s Senior Community In literature, the “red thread” represents the connection between two characters It symbolizes interconnectedness and how the decisions of one character have an impact on the lives of others.
For over 60 years, you, our donors, have decided to give yourselves to the mission of Saint Simeon’s in the form of your time, your money, and your devotion Your decision to do so has had an indelible impact on the lives of our residents, their families, and our staff
Despite the obstacles of the last few years, Saint Simeon’s has continued to set the standard of excellence in senior care In every area of our community, from the grounds to the buildings to the staff to the quality of care our residents receive, that “red thread” is woven throughout
We have pulled this thread through yet another challenging year, and it has remained unbroken We have felt your support in prayer, encouragement, and finances The wonder of our appreciation lies in how you continue to show up with grace and devotion Due to your generosity and love, Saint Simeon’s Foundation’s Western Days 2022 was the most successful yet, and the tapestry created by the weaving together of the Foundation and the Home is stronger and more beautiful than ever
Henry Ward Beecher said, “Gratitude is the fairest blossom which springs from the soul.” As the coming of Spring transforms our campus into living color, each bloom reminds us how grateful we are for your continued support.
With appreciation and gratitude,
When you get the opportunity to sit down and speak with Marie, the first thing you notice is her spryness and sincerity when she speaks. Having been a Resident for 20 years, she has seen many interactions and transitions at Saint Simeon's. "It's hard for me to pinpoint a specific memory that is my favorite. It's the people. The relationships that I have made during my time here really stand out. " Marie said when we sat down to speak with her about her time here.
From managing the Peggy V. Helmrich Library to folding the Quill and knitting baby bonnets, Marie does it all for her love of volunteering and helping others. Marie has made a tremendous contribution to Western Days over the years making hundreds of ever-popular dishcloths and scrubbies.
Originally from Canada, she traveled to the States with her late husband as he pursued his career in Oil & Gas. With stops in Michigan, California, and Ohio, they never imagined staying in Bartlesville, but as we have learned, life is unpredictable. Marie's journey included many twists and turns, but we are grateful she made her way to Saint Simeon's and has graced our hallways for the last 20 years.
"It'sthepeople.The relationshipsIhavemade duringmytimeherereally standout."
57% of Saint Simeon's staff have been an employee for 3+ years

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE THING ABOUT WORKING AT SAINT SIMEON’S?
MY CO-WORKERS. I LOVE COMING TO WORK IN A FAMILY-LIKE ATMOSPHERE. THE PEOPLE THAT I WORK WITH ACTUALLY KNOW ME ON A PERSONAL LEVEL. THEY KNOW MY BIRTHDAY, THEY KNOW MY KIDS BY NAME, AND THEY KNOW MY FAVORITE FOODS. I CALL THEM “MY BONUS FAMILY.”
WHAT MAKES SAINT SIMEON’S A SPECIAL PLACE TO WORK?
THE RESIDENTS AND OUR STANDARDS OF CARE. I THINK WHAT SETS US APART FROM OTHER COMMUNITIES ARE OUR EXPECTATIONS OF CARE AND OUR CUSTOMER SERVICE.
DO YOU HAVE A FAVORITE MEMORY OF AN INTERACTION WITH A RESIDENT, FAMILY MEMBER, OR FELLOW EMPLOYEE?
OVER THE 20+ YEARS, I HAVE HAD SEVERAL FAVORITE MEMORIES, BUT ONE THAT STICKS OUT WAS WHEN I WAS ON VACATION AND RECEIVED A CALL THAT A PARTICULAR RESIDENT WAS TRANSITIONING AND THAT THE FAMILY WAS ASKING FOR MY PRESENCE. I CAME UP TO SIT AT THE BEDSIDE WITH THE RESIDENT’S HUSBAND UNTIL SHE PASSED. HER HUSBAND TOLD ME THAT’S WHAT SHE WANTED, SO I OBLIGED.

WHAT MAKES SAINT SIMEON’S A SPECIAL PLACE TO WORK?
THE ATMOSPHERE, THE RESIDENTS, AND MY COWORKERS. HEALTHCARE WORK ISN'T ABOUT A DOLLAR SIGN; IT'S ABOUT HELPING OTHERS.
DO YOU HAVE A FAVORITE MEMORY OF AN INTERACTION WITH A RESIDENT, FAMILY MEMBER, OR FELLOW EMPLOYEE?
ONE PARTICULAR RESIDENT SPOKE FEW WORDS, BUT WHEN SHE DID, THEY ALWAYS CAUGHT MY ATTENTION. THE CONVERSATIONS WE HAD WERE ALWAYS JOYFUL. SHE HAD THE MOST BEAUTIFUL SMILE IN HER EYES. SHE LOVED SPENDING TIME WITH HER FAMILY AND BEING TAKEN OUTSIDE. SHE ALWAYS SMILED WHEN I BROUGHT HER HOT COCOA.
WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE THING ABOUT WORKING AT SAINT SIMEON'S?
THE OPPORTUNITY TO HELP IN DIFFERENT AREAS. THERE IS ALWAYS SOMETHING TO LEARN.
WHAT IS YOUR SAINT SIMEON'S STORY?
I STARTED DECEMBER 2016 IN PURCHASING. IN DECEMBER 2020, I BEGAN ASSISTING WITH INFECTION CONTROL AND GOT MY CNA LICENSE. IN NOVEMBER 2022 I ACCEPTED THE POSITION AS HR ASSISTANT.
WHAT MAKES SAINT SIMEON’S A SPECIAL PLACE TO WORK?
MY COWORKERS AND THE RESIDENTS! COWORKERS OFTEN OFFER TO HELP OUT AND LIKE TO GET INVOLVED -- THEY BRING A GREAT DEAL OF JOY TO THE RESIDENTS (AND VICE VERSA). FROM DANCING WITH RESIDENTS, TELLING JOKES, WORKING PUZZLES, OR JUST SITTING AND LISTENING TO A RESIDENT, THE STAFF HERE REALLY WARM YOUR HEART. I LOVE TO CATCH STAFF IN PICTURES DOING SPECIAL THINGS, BUT AM OFTEN NOT FAST ENOUGH WITH THE CAMERA!

WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE THING ABOUT WORKING AT SAINT SIMEON'S?
ALWAYS THE RESIDENTS. THEY MAKE YOU FEEL SO LOVED AND APPRECIATED, AND WHAT OTHER JOB DOES THAT FOR YOU? THEY MAKE ME LAUGH, THINK, CHALLENGE ME AND OCCASIONALLY MAKE ME CRY, BUT I CAN'T IMAGINE LIFE WITHOUT MY EXTRA FAMILY!
DO YOU HAVE A FAVORITE MEMORY ABOUT AN INTERACTION WITH A RESIDENT, FAMILY MEMBER, OF FELLOW EMPLOYEE?
ONCE MANY YEARS AGO, WHEN I WAS WORKING AS A PSYCH TECH IN THE MEMORY CENTER, WE HAD A GROUP PERFORMING AND I WAS DANCING WITH SEVERAL RESIDENTS. WHEN I STARTED DANCING WITH THIS ONE GENTLEMAN HIS WIFE CAME IN AND I SIGNALED FOR HER TO COME OVER AND TAKE MY PLACE. ONCE SHE STARTED DANCING SHE BEGAN TO CRY AND AFTERWARD TOLD ME THAT HER HUSBAND WOULD NEVER DANCE BEFORE AND IT WAS HER FIRST TIME DANCING WITH HIM! IT REALLY STICKS WITH ME -- THAT WONDERFUL FEELING OF JOY SHE HAD!
