Welcome to the players, management and supporters of Dorchester Town. We hope you all have a safe journey home. Following last week’s victory at Paulton Rovers, and I have covered that match in my last programme notes and in my “from the dug out” website notes. I felt it was important to get some momentum into our season with the cup match against St Ives last Tuesday. The other Saints who are doing very well this season and enjoying a play off position in the Southern league central division, Our team selection for Tuesday nights match was disrupted a little with some unavailability and injuries plus players with slight knocks who we could not take a chance and allow them to play, but we did gain a victory so really it was mission accomplished. The next round means that our league match away to Redditch has to be postponed again of which is good for us as it means another fixture where I hope we will be able to give an outing and opportunity for
Remy, Matty King and Drew to play and help get their fitness back. That really will be like gaining four quality new signings. Tuesday night’s game was a little odd in the fact that we really did not want to get into a feisty local derby and wanted to play the game nice and easy but obviously acheive the win. St Ives started off sitting very deep with everyone behind the ball, of which gave us plenty of chances to move the ball around across the back line looking for openings of which really did not return us too much dividend. St Ives scored a breakaway counter attacking goal of which gave them confidence to sit back and let us try and break them down. Second half we were a bit more team orientated and created more danger as St Ives defending became more desperate and that paid off for us as the old man Clarke popped up with an equalizer before the young lad Hawkins won the game, a marauding right back popping up at the far post as we pressed for a winner. Sometimes these cup games can be an irritant and get in the way of a league campaign, and from an injury perspective this was just that as we had Adam Tann come off after 25 minutes and other knocks to players

that now need attention. Just when is our luck going to change, hopefully very soon, maybe we can then have the choice of fielding a team we think will win a particular match instead of saying hands up those who are fit. However. It was good to not play that well and get a win, a deserved one on the facts and stats of the game and compared to a number of recent draws when we have played better and not collected what we deserved. From that perspective I hope that the players take that momentum into the game today against a Dorchester side who have started well and occupy a play off position. Our aim is to keep in the hunt and within touching distance whilst we get players returning and a win today can put us just two points behind them with two games in hand. Therefore it is an important fixture, as there is no doubt we have been inconsistent over the season (which is hardly a surprise), but if we can be right up there I hope that will bode well for the future. St Neots Town 2 - 2 Rothwell Corinthians Missed chances, frustration, late sucker punch and last gasp point saver. That sums up an extraordinary afternoon in the sun at Rowley Park. How St Neots did not win this match by a large margin remains a mystery for they outplayed the Premier Division new boys for much of the match but a combination of poor finishing and the ball rebounding off woodwork combined to keep the Northamptonshire visitors in the match. In the end there was some justice but St Neots really must improve on their finishing. The sides came into this match on the back of very different midweek results. St Neots had humbled champions Stotfold in their own backyard and therefore should have been high on confidence whilst Corinthians had suffered their biggest ever top division defeat losing 6-1 at home to Newport Pagnell and that appeared to galvanise their efforts in this match. There was a relatively quiet start to the match with Declan Rogers shooting over the bar for St Neots and Andy White bringing an early save from Jon Chatfield but after 18 minutes St Neots suffered their first setback as Keith Thomas saw his volley from a Rogers corner rebound off the crossbar. Four minutes later in only their second real attack Corinthians took a surprise
lead against the run of play as Neil Woolmer won the ball with a strong midfield challenge and swept it wide to White. His cross to the near post was not cleared and Mick Coles bundled the ball past goalkeeper and two defenders to open the scoring. St Neots responded quickly with Thomas having a low shot well saved by Tom Cross. Then in the last ten minutes of the first half St Neots penned the visitors in their own half creating at least half a dozen very good chances. Cross made an excellent one-handed save to deny James Hall, Luigi Rocco headed tamely over the bar from a Jon Hall cross and the unlucky Thomas found woodwork for a second time with a snap shot. Rogers then failed to convert an open goal and then put a free kick high over the bar and on the stroke of half time Ben Dyett hit a post from a Luke Knight corner. The tempo seemed to drop for a while after the interval after James Hall had missed what looked like a simple chance after good work by Rogers but gradually St Neots began to dominate again. Rogers had a shot deflected for a corner and Luke Knight saw his shot blocked on the line by Lee Deacon. The unhappy James Hall then squandered his second gilt edged chance contriving to put the ball over the bar from five yards and he was eventually

substituted by Matt Kenneford. Just sixty seconds after the substitution St Neots levelled when Rocco crossed from the right, Rogers miss-hit his shot across goal but Luke Knight scored with a low shot from a narrow angle. That should have boosted St Neots chances of producing a winner but Ben Dyett volleyed over the bar when scoring looked the easier option and Cross distinguished himself with a smart save from the lively Rocco. Then with just two minutes of normal time remaining Andy White produced a searing run past three defenders to set up Mick Coles for a his second goal of the match. Fortunately the Referee had been noting Corinthians’ cynical time wasting tactics and six minutes into time added Like Knight crossed for Jon Hoggett to head home a priceless second goal for the relieved hosts.

St Neots recorded a well-deserved but much needed League victory over bottom club Paulton – their first since 31st August – to get their league programme back under way following their midweek FA Cup exit. There were two goals apiece for Tom Meechan and Ryan Hawkins and a fifth – a debut goal – from the impressive Josh Beech making only his second start in midfield. The injury list that has restricted team selection was further exacerbated when Nathan Frater suffered a midweek injury at work but Lee Clarke still awaiting surgery played the full ninety minutes in a team that featured a much changed starting line-up. Jack Wilkinson swapped places with Connor Hall with the latter moving to full back and Josh Beech formed the midfield pairing with Brett Longden.

Despite conceding two goals including a penalty the defensive wall of the reshaped back four looked solid and confident winning all their aerial battles and the overall approach of the side was of more constructive play than of late with less of the so called ‘long ball’ tactics. The revised line up took some time to get going and apart from a couple of lengthy off target shots at either end there was little to report until St Neots stamped their authority with the first goal after 17 minutes.
However St Neots were now in the ascendancy and after 32 minutes delightful interplay between Beech and Meechan set up Hawkins again. Defender Ford got his foot in to send the ball back to his keeper but it was woefully short and Ben John’s clearance hit Hawkins and rebounded kindly for the St Neots striker who rolled the ball into the empty net. There was then an unnecessary display of petulance when most of the players converged on an incident which saw Lee Clarke and Josh Ford both booked but the game then settled and the only threat to St Neots two goals half time lead was a shot from Ross Staley well saved by Andrew Wilton. St Neots almost increased their lead after 54 minutes when a snap volley by Clarke was cleared off the line by Jack Allward but then three minutes later Paulton made their bid to get back in the game when Josh Morgan-Williams wriggled between two defenders to beat Wilton at his near post with a crisp finish.

and Meechan was perfectly placed to slot home the rebound. Strangely Paulton made no attempt to boost their single front runner and St Neots continued to dominate play from midfield and after 73 minutes the lively Ryan Hawkins robbed Ford and went clear to confidently round the goalkeeper to make the score 4-1. One minute later from a similar position Hawkins was close to a hat trick but this time he was denied by the tightness of the angle. St Neots had the luxury of sending on substitutes without upsetting their general domination of the game but against the run of play after 82 minutes they conceded a free kick on the edge of the area driven firmly into the defensive wall by Kyle Tooze and harshly a penalty was awarded that substitute Tom Knighton netted sending Wilton the wrong way. St Neots seemed unfazed by this and had the final word six minutes from time when the perfect free kick by Hawkins found the unmarked head of Josh Beech and he made no mistake from eight yards. With three home games in the next four this should restore the confidence of the side and inspire a continuation of the improved performances and results. John Walker

Welcome to the Officials, Players and Supporters of Dorchester Town for todays match. I hope you enjoy your stay with us and have a very safe journey home. Who could forget last seasons amazing game against todays opponents where I seriously thought the electric scoreboard was going to run out of numbers. Some amazing goals and of course mistakes to allow such a high scoring match. We came out winners in the end with big Ben Mackey (below) scoring the winner right at the end.
THE MACK IS BACK!
Credit must go to both teams but especially Dorchester who really did come out to play that day, and credit to them for doing that and making it a game to remember. Todays match will I think be a little different as both teams seem to be in more control of their game, and with Dorchester at the moment sitting in a play off position our task today will not be an easy one. Mind you no game is an easy game in this division and I do call this division real men’s football. Non-league yes but highly professional and all teams even if they lack certain player quality because of many reasons they never lack being well organized from very professional managers. So any win is great and if you can win with a little style then all the better. Of which brings me on to last Saturdays away match at paulton Rovers, Yes they were bottom of the division but they have had some very tight results of late and none more than losing away to Poole

in mid week by a late penalty goal of which made our game that little harder with Paulton Rovers on a bit of a high and rightly assuming they could get something from our fixture especially with us losing against Worthing. Let battle commence so they say and may the best team win. Well we scored five goals away and won the match. An outstanding performance of counter attacking football by the team on the day. Now seeing us as the division’s top goal scorers leads me into wondering just why this is so. Our away record of no loses this season and only 2 loses away last season and for the record that was 0-3 at Redditch and 0-1 at Weymouth on a very cold windy and wet Tuesday night. Why is this I ask myself, well believe its because of our style of football and the system we adopt. We have scored this season away from home 4 against Bideford, 6 at Bedworth, 3 at Hungerford, and now 5 at Paulton. Whilst also achieving great draws at Weymouth and Chippenham. An away record that is by far the best in our league over the past 18 months.
So nothing wrong there, well not for those of us who have attended those matches because we have watched some heroics from the team and goals, goals and more goals. Looking at our home record since David and his management team arrived last January. The records show that we lost NO home games since David and his team arrived for last season That is a big “Zero”

This season we have lost 2 games at home.
So a few days later and we hammer Paulton Rovers away scoring 5 goals playing them off the park, happy days again. I’m always mostly happy believe it or not but there is nothing like a good win from my Saints to set up a good Saturday night out and really I don’t care if the ball bounces off the moon sometimes as long as we win and give ourselves a chance of getting out of this division.
Against Poole town 2-3 where we gifted them that match without doubt, and again in the last home match against Cirencester of which I thought was a close match until I watched the brilliant video by Adam showing not just the match highlights but also the many chances we created over the match. And yes after watching the video broken down like that I fully agree with David’s view of that game we should not even have drawn that one but should have won it. So what are we doing wrong I ask those of you who wont let go. We are doing nothing wrong at all is the answer and we are in a very very good place in the clubs history. We have the best of everything as I have stated before and we have a management team and squad (when all fit) other clubs just cannot match.

Now most are with me on that one, some no doubt will jump on later, but the fact of the matter is your all welcome, just understand be positive and support your club in every way, stay positive all the time and shout and help us win matches. Because you can all make the difference and on many occasions have made that difference. All for one and one for all. Mike

Alan started his career as a part-time player in non-League football at Whyteleafe and Epsom & Ewell, whilst working as a glazier. At one stage he gave up football for six months whilst working in the Middle East, but he returned to football at Corinthian Casuals before later having spells at Dulwich Hamlet and Yeovil Town. He was also in the England Semi-Professional squad during this time. Alan moved to Football League Second Division side Crystal Palace in 1987 for a fee of £7,500. His highest achievements in the sport include reaching the FA Cup Final twice, as a player with Crystal Palace in 1990 and as a manager with West Ham United in 2006, though he ended up on the losing side on both occasions. He has also achieved promotion three times in his career, as a player with Crystal Palace and as a manager
with Reading and West Ham. He managed Newcastle United from 2010 to 2014. As manager of Newcastle, he won both the Premier League Manager of the Season and the LMA Manager of the Year awards for the 2011–12 season after guiding the Magpies to European football for the first time since the club’s return to the Premier League. On 2 January 2015, Pardew was confirmed as the new Crystal Palace manager, signing a threeand-a-half-year contract with the club after a compensation package of £3.5 million was agreed. The Daily Mirror reported that Pardew was the first manager to take over a Premier League club in the relegation zone
and eventually guide them to a top half finish. So far in his career, Pardew has been involved in several controversial issues and events. In 2003, the BBC described him as being a “dangerous and distant animal” in the media,
referring to his lack of public relations abilities, which has led him to making several rash comments. Still never mind, Alan Pardew non league player who started his career in non league at Whyteleafe and three other non league clubs can say that he has been one of the most successful player / managers to come from the non league game.

THE STARS WHO GOT US TO STEP THREE Stefan joined the club for an astronomical transfer fee of ÂŁ10,000 something unheard for for a club playing at step five. But it was the Chairmans money well spent as Stefan became the most prolific goal scorer for the Club for almost 50 years he played his first match for St Neots on 2 October 2010 in FA Vase First Round tie at home to Felixstowe scoring four times in an 11-0 victory. He followed up with a hat trick in his second league match in the UCL Premier Division away at Yaxley in a 13-0 victory. His final appearance was on 15 December 2012 away at Chippenham. He scored six hat tricks (or better).
Upon leaving the Club he transferred to Leamington subsequently playing for Brackley Town and Solihall Moors. Stefan was just about the best non league player in the game and really should have continued to play full time professional football, however he struck up a friendship with the clubs Chairman who convinced him to play for the Saints. The rest you can say is history. Stefan still keeps in touch with the Chairman as over the years they have stayed good friends.

Managerial changes announced at Soham Town Rangers Soham Town Rangers FC has reluctantly accepted the resignation of Steve Fallon from his position as First Team Manager. “Soham Town Rangers FC will always be grateful to Steve, Ian and Wayne for their hard work during their management reign at the club and wish them well for the future. Following a difficult start to the season and due to personal reasons Steve has decided to end his three and a half years in the hot seat. His coaching staff of Ian Hart and Wayne Goddard has also decided to stand down. Steve, along with his assistant Ian, arrived at Soham in March 2012, following the departure of previous management team Andy Furnell and Andy Coleman, and managed to collect enough points in the remaining games of the campaign to keep the Greens in the League, during this period, Soham have also reached three Cambs Invitation Cup finals, winning the trophy in 2014, with Steve also being named Ryman League Manager of the Month three times during that season. Soham Town Rangers FC will always be grateful to Steve, Ian and Wayne for their hard work during their management reign at the club and wish them well for the future.
The club are therefore pleased to announce that following discussions with Fallon, senior players Robbie Nightingale and Dave Theobald will immediately take over as the clubs new management team.” The duo both arrived at Soham during the summer from Royston Town. During their playing careers both have played for Cambridge City.
Steelmen assistant shares update on leukaemia treatment Corby Town assistant manager David Clarke is currently undergoing treatment for leukaemia, having being diagnosed with the condition last month. As he continues on his road to recovery Clarkey has been in contact to share the first stage of his journey with the Steelmen family and to thank everybody for their support. Clarke told corbytownfc.co.uk; “It all began with a week of stomach pain, a trip to FC United of Manchester in significant pain and then a trip to the GP on Monday morning with what I thought was a stomach bug. A feel of my stomach followed an urgent blood test. Monday evening at 5.30pm I had a call from the doctor telling me that I was to go to Accident and Emergency immediately. Another blood test confirmed the first wasn’t a mistake.

“My white blood cell count was 300, a normal count would be between 4 and 10. My spleen had grown 20cm bigger than normal as it was full of white blood cells. My blood was like treacle and I was at risk of a heart attack or stroke. I had a bone marrow test that was horrific and this concluded that my diagnosis was chronic myeloid leukaemia (CML). This is basically cancer of the blood, where my bone marrow is producing white blood cells uncontrollably. I was admitted into the ward and started chemotherapy the next day to bring down my white blood cell count to something less dangerous. After a few days the count came down, enough to let me out of hospital for the weekend. I continued this medication with weekly tests until the specialist was happy that I could begin the targeted chemotherapy that corrects my DNA. Obviously with chemotherapy there are many side affects, I have some and they are very painful but nothing I cannot handle. The messages and comments on social media have been overwhelming. Since I have been away I have spoken to Tommy most days and can say he is working incredibly hard to put things right. I’m still involved in supporting Tommy but from my sofa currently. I hope to be back at Steel Park soon to watch a game and hopefully help Tommy and the team where I can. I am convinced that my years in football, the discipline and fighting spirit I have learnt from the game along with the physical strength I have
gained from training will play a huge part in my recovery. The support of the Corby Town FC family would be greatly appreciated.”
Leamington ‘Parttime’ documentary now available online Part-Time is a film documentary giving an insight into the balancing act that most non-league clubs face with being part-time. After it’s recent airings on national television, Part-Time is now finally available online. The film followed Leamington during March 2015, as they prepared for a match against Stalybridge Celtic, whilst their players juggled their dayjobs. You can find Part-Time documentary on You Tube.
Joyce ends Aylesbury United reign Since Aylesbury United’s last home game, first team manager Tony Joyce has offered his resignation which has been accepted by the club. “After Saturday’s game and speaking
to directors I offered my resignation. Speaking to the Chairman on Sunday evening I would like to stand by that decision and with regret move on from my position as Aylesbury United first team manager. I have had six years in charge and we have had some great times including promotions and cup finals. This season unfortunately, with the move to Thame, things have not worked out as expected at this stage of the season. I have great admiration for the club and feel now for myself and the football club it is time for change.”
Taylor-made appointment for Bedford Town, The management round about goes on again at town. The Management Committee at Bedford Town have appointed Jon Taylor as their new manager. Taylor will be a familiar face to most Eagles supporters having played for the club and taken the role of assistant manager in the late 1990s. Since then he has gone on to gain a wealth of experience around non-
league, managing Arlesey Town, St Neots and most recently Hereford United. The 47 year old has also stayed heavily involved in youth development with senior recruitment roles at Stevenage and Swindon Town. Mark Ducket will remain part of the backroom team in the role of first team coach. Ducket has done a fantastic job as caretaker manager over the past week and we are delighted he will be continuing his involvement with the new structure. A new assistant manager will be announced shortly. The Magpies are now making a determined effort to regain their place in Step Two of the national pyramid. A very special welcome for our next Southern League Premier Division engagement with Dorchester Town our visitors this afternoon. After relegation from the Conference South at the end of the season before last Dorchester spent twelve months acclimatising themselves at Step Three finishing in seventeenth place in the table but well clear of the relegation zone. This season they have started with greater purpose and currently sit in fifth place in the play-off zone along with the two other Dorset clubs Poole Town and Weymouth. The South West trio look to be making a real bid for advancement at this stage of the season and it will be interesting to watch as the season develops. The meeting of our two clubs last year here at the Premier Plus Stadium was the most exciting Southern League match ever witnessed here. It was an eleven goals thriller finishing 6-5 in our favour but six goals in a spell
of just sixteen minutes in the first half left almost everyone present breathless. There was a hat trick for last season’s golden boot winner Drew Roberts and a winning goal four minutes from time from Ben Mackey who had only appeared as a late substitute. Meantime our visitors boasted five different scorers in a match that has lived long in the memory. This season Dorchester bowed out of the FA Cup at the First Qualifying Round stage beaten in a replay at Cirencester after a 1-1 draw at home so they will now be looking forward to the FA Trophy in a couple of weeks’ time when they host another Southern Premier Division opponent in Chippenham Town. In midweek after these notes were penned they had a very important first round tie in the Red Insure Cup when they hosted neighbours Poole Town with whom they have fought some titanic struggles in the not too distant past.

CLUB HISTORY Founded in 1880, Dorchester Town was Dorset Senior Cup finalists in 1888 and 1890 before joining the Dorset League in 1896. Despite being founder members of the league, the club had little success before winning the championship in 1937/38 with a 2–0 victory at Sherborne on 25 April 1938.The club joined the Western League in 1947, winning promotion from Division Two in 1950, and going on to take the league championship in 1954/55. The fifties proved to be a successful decade for the Magpies, winning the Dorset Senior Cup for the first time, and having a number of good runs in the FA Cup facing the likes of Norwich City, Queens Park Rangers, Port Vale and Plymouth Argyle. In 1954, Dorchester reached the 2nd Round before eventually losing out to York City in front of 5,500 fans at the old Avenue ground, in a season where York went on to reach

the semi-finals. Following four more victories in the Dorset Senior Cup, the club entered the Southern League (Division One South) in 1972. They first tasted success in this division when they finished runners-up to Margate in 1977/78, going unbeaten in the final 16 matches of the season, with manager David Best utilising his links with old club AFC Bournemouth to attract former first-teamers such as John O’Rourke, Jack Howarth and Harry Redknapp to the Avenue. The formation of the Alliance League (now the Football Conference) unfortunately meant the Magpies ended up back in the reformed Southern Division a year later, but the club celebrated its centenary by winning the Southern Division in 1979/80 by a one point margin over Aylesbury. Stuart Bell succeeded David Best as manager during the season, and the Magpies went unbeaten in the last 14 games to clinch the title. Relegated at the
end of the 1983/84 season following a severe financial crisis, the club only just avoided dropping out of the league altogether the following year. However, a remarkable turnaround followed, and Dorchester returned to the Premier Division as champions at the end of the 1986/87 season, taking the title following a goalless draw at runners-up Ashford on the final day of the season. The following seasons were a mixture of highs-and-lows, flirting with relegation on a number of occasions, facing Oxford United in the 1st Round of the FA Cup, reaching the last 16 of the FA Trophy for only the second time, and finishing fourth in the Premier Division in 1997/98. Unfortunately the club was relegated to the Eastern Division at the end of the 2000/01 season, despite a strong FA Cup run culminating in a 3–1 First Round defeat at Wigan Athletic’s impressive 25,000 all-seater JJB Stadium. They regained their
Premier Division status within two years, defeating King’s Lynn on the final day of the 2002/03 season to take the Eastern Division title ahead of Eastbourne Borough, having won 16 of their last 17 matches and scoring 114 goals in their 42 league games.

A season earlier the Magpies had picked up the Southern League Cup for the first time, again defeating King’s Lynn in a 4–0 aggregate victory in the final. The first season back in the Premier Division was a difficult one but the club succeeded to reach the end-of-season play-offs, where two fine victories over Bath City and Tiverton Town saw Dorchester become a Conference club for the first time in the newly formed Conference South division. After eleven years at Step Two Dorchester were relegated back to the Premier Division of the Southern League.

Alan made his debut for the club in September 2011, and has been the regular custodian throughout the ensuing seasons, with the exception of the 2012/13 season but has subsequently excelled as the last line of defence, which resulted in him winning The Dorset Echo Player of the Year, On Line Player of the Year and the coveted Player of the Year Award at the end of season 2013/14. Born London. Aged 34. Shane Murphy Promising young keeper who will provide cover for Alan Walker-Harris. Shane made his first team debut when he replaced AWH for the final phase of the final game of season 2013/14 at Ebbsfleet United, and has subsequently made a handful of first team appearances. Shane has previously played for AFC Bournemouth, Hamworthy United and New Milton Town. Born Bournemouth. Age 22. DEFENDERS Chris Dillon Chris is a central defender, who joined The Magpies in September 2014, having previously played for Christchurch when former Magpies’ manager Graham Kemp was in charge there. Chris then took up a scholarship to play in the USA at The Mobile University, and has also played in Australia for Doveton SC. The season before last Chris was a member of the Eastleigh squad who won the

Oakley Hanger Oakley is another of the club’s young players who has progressed from the reserve side in to the first team squad, and although his first team opportunities with The Magpies were somewhat limited last season, Oakley gained useful experience whilst on loan at Bashley. Oakley can play either at full back or in central defence, and has previously played at schoolboy and youth level with Yeovil Town. Born Dorchester. Age 19. Neil Martin Initially joined The Magpies in August 2009, and made 178 first team appearances and scored 7 goals, and was a consistent performer, before leaving the club to join Poole Town in November 2013. He subsequently joined neighbours Weymouth before deciding to re-join The Magpies during the close season. Neil is a skilful and versatile player who can play either at left back or left wing. Previously with Exeter City and Salisbury City, he played twenty games for Hayes & Yeading in their promotion season, 2008/09, from The Conference South. Born Yeovil. Age 26. Jake Smeeton Jake is a hard tackling player, who has played mainly in the left back position, but is equally at home in the middle of the back line. Formerly with Yeovil Town, he made his debut for The Magpies in August 2007, and is now one of the longest serving players currently at the club, with whom he had made 240 first team appearances at the end of last season, having completed eight seasons with the club. He has also had loan spells with Poole Town. Testimony to his consistent performances was recognised by his teammates as Jake has won the Players’ Player of the Year award for the last two seasons, and in addition won The Jack Lambert Award for Good Sportsmanship for season 2013/14 and The Dinky Curtis Memorial Cup for last season. Born Yeovil. Age 27. Nathan Walker Nathan has now resigned on a dual registration basis, having decided to leave The Magpies to join Gosport Borough prior to the start of the new season. Nathan initially joined Dorchester Town from Wimborne Town early in 2010, having previously played for Hamworthy United, as well as having a short spell with Dorchester as a teenager. Nathan has matured into a commanding and reliable defender who will add some stability to our defence. Born Dorchester. Age 29.
Bradley Tarbuck: (Forward) Bradley made his professional debut for Portsmouth in August 2012 when he came on as a substitute in a League Cup tie defeat against Plymouth Argyle. He was awarded a professional contract in May 2014, and made his league debut on the 1st November, coming on as a substitute in a home win against Carlisle United. Bradley has also spent a period on loan with Dartford, where he made three appearances. Born Emsworth. Age 19.

Jack is a former Scottish Youth International at U16 level, and signed for The Spitfires following his release from Bristol City in the summer. Jack is equally happy playing as a defender. Age 18. Jason Brookes Jason joined the club prior to last season and made twenty-seven first team appearances during the course of the season, nineteen of which were as a substitute. Jason is a very versatile player who came on in a variety of positions when called upon, and he also scored The Magpies’ final goal of last season in the home game against Slough Town. Was previously a scholar at the Southampton Academy, but was released and signed for Eastleigh, before moving to Bashley. Born Southampton. Age 27. Charlie Davis Signed during the close season having been with Poole Town last season, and also spent a short loan spell with The Magpies in October 2014, when he made a total of six appearances. Charlie is an attacking midfield player who likes to get forward whenever the opportunity arises. Charlie has also previously played for AFC Bournemouth and Spanish side Cadiz. Born Poole. Age 20. Lewis Morgan Re-joined the club midway through last season, having been playing for Sherborne Town. Lewis previously played for The Magpies in the 2012/13 season, before moving to Tiverton Town

He is a very experienced midfield player with excellent technical ability, who has played the majority of his career in The Football League, or at the top level of the non-league game, representing Darlington, Cambridge United, Rushden & Diamonds, Grays and Boston United. He has also had successful spells with Maidenhead United in Conference South, where he was held in high esteem by both management and fans. Born Ipswich. Age 33. Sam Old Sam is a local lad who has progressed through the reserve side to earn a place in the first team squad. Tony Lee Tony has just joined the club on loan from his parent club Eastleigh. Ben Watson Re-joined the club midway through last season having initially signed for The Magpies from Truro City prior to the start of the 2012/13 season, and made 56 appearances and scored 19 goals before he left the club to rejoin Truro City at the end of September 2013, and he then moved again to join Bideford AFC. Ben started his career with Brighton & Hove Albion as a trainee, before he had spells with Bognor Regis Town and Grays Athletic. He was then signed by Exeter City, with whom he spent three seasons before joining Forest Green Rovers and Bath City, both on loan, and he then moved on to play for Eastbourne Borough. Age 29. Luke Woodland Luke is another young player who has progressed into the first team squad this season, and there are high hopes that he will continue to progress further. A performance where everything clicked Good afternoon everyone and welcome back to the Premier Plus Stadium, home of St Neots Town Football Club and the Mick George Academy, for today’s Evostik League Southern Premier Division match. Today we extend a very warm welcome to the players, officials and of course, the travelling supporters of Dorchester Town Football Club and we hope you have an enjoyable, if brief, stay with us here in Cambridgeshire before safely returning home later this evening. After a trip down to Paulton Rovers which seemed to go on forever and ever and ever we were eventually rewarded with three very important points, five goals and a performance where everything clicked and to be honest, looked likely to tear the hosts apart every time we went forward. I hadn’t been to Paulton before and I have now added it to one of my favourite grounds visited, the only negative point being the massive slope on the pitch but there is very little that can be done about that. A lovely clubhouse with two bars (there may be more) and a snooker/ pool room too. Its obvious this is more than just a football club – more of a social meeting place for the
town (or is it a village? I didn’t get to see enough of it to judge that one). Winning a prize in the half time raffle, being held in aid of an ex player of theirs, really topped the day of however, once the girls (Emily and Abi) clapped eyes on it, I knew it was doomed. Once we were on the road, I rather stupidly asked if they would like some of the giant Toblerone and that was it, hey presto, it was gone, last seen, what was left of it ,making it’s way back along the coach towards the management team like a carcass being stripped by a shoal of hungry piranha fish. Never mind, the three points which we had loaded into the luggage hold more than made up for the chocolate abduction. Tuesday evening saw us progress in the Red Insure Cup, when we staged our very own version of the late, late show, coming from a goal down to snatch the win in the last minute against near neighbours St Ives Town, here at The PPS – (Premier Plus Stadium). I wasn’t at

the game due to work commitments so can’t comment on the game but was watched by a crowd of 173, which, although way down on our normal attendance, it wasn’t a bad effort on the night, ranking among the top attendances in a competition deemed by many as worthless, so well done to all the hardcore supporters who came out to cheer the lads on. As I’ve said previously, it’s a lovely cup to win as long as it doesn’t hamper your league ambitions. Right then, back to today. This is another big game with our visitors currently sitting in the play off positions so we will have to be firing on all cylinders to get the result today. On Monday, Hitchin Town went two goals down soon after the half hour mark but struck twice in the second half to secure a 2- 2 home draw with Leamington whose point took them back to the top of the table on goal difference. On Tuesday, Poole Town jumped to the top of the table when they converted a penalty twelve minutes from time to win 2-1 at home after bottom of the table Paulton Rovers had equalised four minutes after going behind just past the hour mark while Chippenham Town moved into second place with a 2-1 victory at Kettering Town but fifth in the table Dorchester Town, two down at the interval, crashed to a 4-1 defeat at Slough Town. Chesham United, two ahead at the break, converted a second half penalty to secure a 3-0 home win over Redditch United and Stratford Town added to their two first half strikes just after the hour mark to also record a 3-0 home success against Biggleswade Town while Kings Lynn Town, who took the lead on the stroke of half time, had to settle for a point from a 1-1 home draw when Dunstable Town scored thirteen minutes into the second half. On Wednesday, Cambridge City went a goal behind after just six minutes but had taken a two goal lead by the break and went on to record a 4-2 home win over third from bottom Bedworth United while fourth from bottom Frome Town defeated sixth placed visitors Cirencester Town 3-2.

Weekend Action (10th October) Division One Central North Greenford United, a goal down after ten minutes, scored three times in each half to lift them off the bottom of the table with an amazing 6-2 home win over Chalfont St Peter who lost top spot when Royston Town scored twice after the break to complete a 2-0 victory at Beaconsfield SYCOB while ST Ives Town moved into second place when three first half strikes set up a comprehensive 5- 0 success against visiting Leighton Town. Egham Town scored five times in the second half to rack up a resounding 7-0 win at second from bottom Arlesey Town while Kings Langley struck on the stroke of half time to hang on to fifth place with a 1-0 home victory over Aylesbury United but Aylesbury conceded a goal two minutes before the interval to lose 1-0 at Potters Bar Town. Ware, a goal ahead after twenty one minutes but level at the break, scored four minutes after the hour mark to record a 2-1 home win against Godalming Town but Fleet Town, who conceded two goals in the opening four minutes of the second half, lost 3-1 at home to Northwood.
MD’S VIEWS Welcome to Dorchester Town FC, I hope you all enjoy your stay at the Premier Plus stadium. It’s been a funny old start to the season but as always I remain positive that we are moving in the right direction. It’s not easy to get the right balance on the pitch so please be patient.
Two big classrooms, a large meeting/ classroom, an office and an area that can be utilised by the academy. Once this has been completed (by early November) we will then start on the second ezone room.
It’s interesting to read a number of posts on other clubs forums who still seem to be glazed by what can only be described as miss informed naivety when it comes to them expressing a view on our financial position both as a club and as a business.
The first Soccer Zone room is now pretty much complete and will be hired out in the very near future so keep an eye out for our announcement.
To be honest I very rarely read forums of any kind not because I think they are counterproductive (quite the opposite in fact) but just because I’m just too busy spending all the millions we have on luxury items. It’s a fairly simple equation really, generate enough profit to cover all expected costs (with a provision for the unexpected) or sit back and watch things go pear shape. Pear shape is not an option and as such we work within a budget, whether it be a cleaning budget or a players budget it’s all under the same set of accounts. Unlike a lot of other clubs the overall budget is not reliant solely on cup runs (although clearly this helps and would be very nice and of course it’s a huge disappointment for us all) but it is based upon a steady growth
in all areas and all aspects of the business. Year on year growth with a stable cost base seems a simple way of thinking about thing’s but there it is, not rocket science or quantum physics just simple common sense. I will be a happy bunny when the new classroom building goes in. Planning has been accepted so it’s now a case of moving the metal box that’s tucked away next to the Astro changing rooms, moving the spare fencing (this has now been done) getting the foundation plates in place, getting it delivered, gutting it and then refitting to spec.

LEE CLARKE Formerly of Peterborough United, Lee moved to St Albans where he was top scorer in the Conference South for two seasons, gaining promotion to National Conference level. He was recognised internationally at this stage, earning 5 caps for Northern Ireland Under 21’s. Converting to a midfield role, he became captain at Welling, leading them to the Conference South title in 2012/13. Lee started this season at St Albans City again, but has recently been playing locally for Spalding before joining the Saints.
He scored 12 goals after joining the Saints towards the back end of last season. Being out of the side for most of this season with injury Lee has played over the last few matches with an injury of which will need surgery very soon. Typical of Lee and his willingness to play through the pain barrier for the good of the team.

DUNSTABLE TOWN Our next away game is at Creasey Park over the border in Bedfordshire and the home to Dunstable Town.
There will be many familiar faces in the Dunstable team with a whole load of last seasons’ St Neots Town squad finding their way to Dunstable to play in the Blues’ colours. One Dunstable player has a few weeks ago made the opposite trip and Shane will be out to show his former club that he made the right decision. David Batchs’ very first game in charge of the Saints was the away trip to Creasey Park last January new years day where we came away with a 3-1 win with Drew scoring an absolutely brilliant goal. This season
so far Dunstable have looked as though they have under achieved but local derbies mean anything can happen and we need to be at our very best to get anything from the match. If proof were needed that a side can win a match when playing well below par then this was it. Ultimately status told as St Neots eased through almost apologetically to the second round of the Red Insure Cup at the expense of neighbours St Ives but the visitors can count themselves unlucky to be out. They dominated for much of the game despite including several of their squad players in their line up but tired visibly towards the end and conceded two goals in the last five minutes plus added time. St Neots still crippled by injury lost two more of the players from their weekend team with Connor Hall and Jack Wilkinson missing from their starting line-up and were really down to the bare bones of selection but included goalkeeper Ollie Sutton for his debut. To exacerbate matters further skipper Adam Tann limped off after just 21 minutes with a recurrent knee injury and now selection is getting to the stage of – if you are fit you are playing! The next round of the Red Insure Cup still to be drawn will mean the postponement of the scheduled rearranged trip to Redditch and so they now face matches twice a week right up until Christmas. St Ives are currently joint top in the lower Division having lost only one league match so far this season and away from home have won four and drawn the other match so they were parading an unbeaten record away
from Westwood Road. From the start they looked a well-balanced and confident side and after Lee Clarke had headed over and Ryan Hawkins had brought a good save from former St Neots keeper Tim Trebes the visitors played some attractive football looking dangerous down both flanks. Sutton was in early action gathering a low shot from Phil Draycott but St Neots almost snatched the lead when a downward header by Tom Ward from a Tom Meechan corner was blocked on the line after 16 minutes. Sixty seconds later St Ives took the lead when Chae Simons threaded a delightful pass inside the last defender and Jared Cunniff cut in to curl a well-placed shot beyond the despairing dive of Sutton. Clarke then shot into the side netting after good work by Ryan Horne and Trebes had to save full length from Meechan. Whilst not creating as many clear chances St Ives played neat possession football and deserved their narrow half time advantage. Home fans were looking for a more positive approach by their side after the break but apart from some darting runs on the left flank by Luis Vieira St Neots created less than they had in the first 45 minutes. Tranmere Rovers host fellow National League side Lincoln City and current leaders Forest Green travel to National League South side Margate. The Gate picked up their first home win of the season against Truro City to book their place in the next round. With prize money steadily rising to £12,500 for the winners of the matches to be played on October 24, the prospect of a possible money-making meeting with a Football League club is potentially just 90 minutes away. The question is now – which players, teams or stand out finishes will make the headlines next time out and will a Football League side have to cope with a model professional stealing their limelight?
