Blue Angels Officer Inspires Students Today, Capt. Corrie Mays, one of two female officers that fly with the Blue Angels, presented her career path that led her to the elite flying team. Anne-Marie Crawmer '17 had the honor of introducing Mays, who spent a majority of the assembly answering questions posed by SJA students. Capt. Mays joined the Blue Angels team in September 2014, after accumulating more than 800 flight hours and earning various unit awards. She was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Marine Corps in 2006 and received her wings of gold in November 2009. As she progressed through her career, she completed various assignments including Capt. Corrie Mays, U.S. Marine Corps and Blue the Marine Fighter Attack Training Squadron 101 - the Angels Officer "Sharpshooters" - where she began her initial training in the F/A-18 Hornet. She also participated in many multinational exercises around the world. At the assembly, Mays stressed about giving a 110 percent everything you do, from sports to college to careers to life in general. "The message I want to share with you is that throughout life there are three different things that you can choose to do: set a goal, accept the challenge that comes along with that goal and the failures associated with those challenges, and then excel achieve excellence," she advised students.
