GLOBAL SCHOLARS PROGRAM Taking action to improve our world starts by understanding issues on a global scale. The Saint Joseph Academy Global Scholars Program prepares students to be original, compassionate, innovative collaborators by giving each young woman a more holistic perspective of the world around her. Upon completion of the program, Global Scholars will strive to be agents of change who take action in their local and global communities.

WHAT DOES THE GLOBAL SCHOLARS PROGRAM EXPERIENCE INCLUDE? The Global Scholars Program is designed to be action-oriented, engaging and hands-on to make the world the students’ learning environment. While in the program, students often step outside the traditional classroom environment. They will work to achieve six different milestones that will help them develop cross-cultural knowledge and communication skills, as well as excel at thinking critically about global change. Since the Global Scholars Program involves encounters with those from life experiences that are different from our own, the US-based immersion trips are also considered part of this program. Academic Milestone Includes four semesters of a World Language, a Global Scholars Independent Study course with the incorporation of an online portfolio and at least one additional globally-minded course. Cultural Immersion Milestone Invites students to participate in cultural experiences in the United States and abroad. Service-Learning Milestone Fosters empathy, responsibility and self-confidence and encourages students to actively create inclusive environments. Community/Global Events Milestone Promotes leadership and societal involvement as students participate in activities ranging from global dialogues, virtual immersions and renowned speaker discourses on a variety of topics. Personal Exploration Milestone Encourages students to explore their own personal identity as it connects to our worldwide community. Junior Professional Shadowing Milestone Students will select their Junior Professional Shadowing experience in an opportunity/organization that contributes to broadening their overall global perspective.
