Ballet (Reception – Year 7)

The classes combine ballet with general dance, and pupils work towards performances throughout the year. Dancing encourages discipline, creativity, and artistic skills, together with improving confidence and physical development.

Lower School Choir (Years 3-5)

A fun singing session for all pupils in the lower school choir.

Lego Club (Years 6-8)

Lego club has many benefits to pupils including, improved eye/hand coordination, the development of spatial skills, persistence, and patience, enhanced fine motor skills and problem-solving skills. Pupils also achieve a sense of accomplishment and learn how to plan and work in teams.

Spanish (Years 1-6)

Have fun with the Spanish language. Call Mrs Clay directly on 01279 721402 or email rosalindazeez@aol.com to book your child’s place.

Multicultural Dance Club (Year 5)

This vibrant, energetic club embraces dance steps, travelling movements and rhythms from around the world. Pupils have the opportunity to gain an understanding of different dance cultures and learn a range of dance techniques as well as contributing choreographic ideas to create a showcase dance for Harlow’s Multicultural Dance Festival.

Eco Club (Years 3-5)

Green Flag activity status. Teaching pupils about sustainability, environmental issues and lowering the carbon footprint. This club is a great way to get back to nature and to put those green fingers to good use. Pupils have fun maintaining the school allotments, harvesting the vegetables, looking after local wildlife, discovering new mini beasts through pond dipping and thinking of new ways for the school

to be even more environmentally friendly. Hard work is often rewarded by toasting marshmallows over a fire and drinking hot chocolate with friends. This club is limited to 12 pupils and is invitation only.

News Club (Years 6-8)

News club gives pupils the opportunity to watch, discuss and share their opinions on current news topics. Pupils are encouraged to share news stories with the group, particularly those which relate to the school and the wider community.

Card Sharks (Years 6-9)

Pupils in Year 6-9 are welcome to attend this club. Pupils will be learning and teaching each other different card games. From Top Trumps, Uno and IQ cards, to playing cards, club members will be learning to play a wide range of card games. The club is intended to be relaxed and fun, and an opportunity to make new friends. Please bring along your best card games.

iPad Photography Club (Years 3-5)

The iPad photography club encourages pupils to interact and communicate with each other and promotes an understanding of technology. The nature of the iPad camera function is simple to use and makes it accessible for all pupils to explore and produce interesting and exciting photographs.

Make and Do Club (Year 1)

Pupils have craft materials, construction kits and small

world toys available so they can use their own imagination to create and play. Pupils sometimes have a theme such as fireworks or animal crafts.

Chess Club (Years 7-10)

Chess Club is designed to give pupils an opportunity to learn the game of chess, improve their chess skills, and to enjoy challenging their peers, while experiencing healthy competition and team spirit. Chess is used to develop critical thinking, problem solving, and decision-making. While the pupils will have the chance to track their progress and to compete in chess matches, our main focus will be to encourage learning, sportsmanship, and fun.

Science Help Clinic (Years 9-11)

Struggling with biology or chemistry, want to do some revision, or just need a confidence boost? Then this club is the place to come to. Open to Years 9, 10 and 11 and all abilities welcome.

read school library books. They will also have the chance to learn key skills such as library cataloguing and organisation. Pupils in Years 6-9 will be able to develop the skills needed to eventually become our School Librarians, when they reach Year 10.

Art Club (Years 6-10)

Pupils will have the opportunity to explore different materials to draw and colour with. They will learn how to sketch and draw as well as creating some observational drawing and replicating artists work.

Forest School Club (Years 2-3)

Forest School Club will give the pupils the opportunity to be free, enjoy nature walks, embrace their outside surroundings. It’s an opportunity for them to learn skills, help build resilience and confidence and experience the great outdoors in all weathers. Club members need to bring old clothes that they don’t mind getting dirty, with long trousers and long sleeves. Wellies and a water proof jacket are also required.

Book Club (Years 3-4)

In book club we will be focusing on the book “Frankenstiltskin” which is part of the Fairy Tales Gone Bad collection by Joseph Coelho. Joseph is the current Children’s Laureate and award-winning author. During the sessions we will read the book together and the children will take part in lots of discussion about the story and writing style of the author. To immerse the children in the book they will also complete a wide range of activities such as art and drama related activities. Please bring along your own copy of the book.

Extra support for GCSE Art pupils, from our artist-in-residence.

Y10 French Study Skills Club (Year 10)

Looking ahead to Year 11, the French Study Skills Club will help students set up their revisions with advice targeted to their individual preferences.

Gimkit Quiz Club (Years 6-7)

The Gimkit Quiz Club is for Year 6 and 7 pupils to participate in curriculum-linked quizzes, reinforcing classroom topics across all subjects while enjoying some competitive fun! Emphasising teamwork, critical thinking,

and social interaction, it offers a positive re-exploration of knowledge.

Reporters Club (Year 4-5)

This club is an opportunity for Year 4 and 5 pupils to explore journalistic language, writing and presenting. This will be a club in which children will be able to explore and develop their own ‘voice’, reporting their views and opinions on issues that are important to them.

Playground Games (Reception)

Playground games club is a great way for children to stay fit and healthy. Not only does it help develop their gross motor skills it teaches and facilitates playful interaction between others as well as developing children’s confidence. In this club we will learn a variety of different playground games including ‘Duck, Duck, Goose’, ‘The shopping list game’, ‘Catch the flag’ and many more.

Sting Performing Arts

STING performing arts is a nationwide theatre company delivering the arts to those who like to perform and have fun whilst gaining confidence with a high standard of training from all industry professionals. We teach our pupils the foundation in performing, and provide a safe fun class one day a week for all pupils to enjoy. We believe performing arts sets the foundation for young people to develop lifelong skills such as communication, imaginations and self-confidence. There are three different age groups:

Fashion Club (Years 3-5)

In this club, children are encouraged to be fashion designers of Saint Nicholas, making bags and other fashion accessories on the school sewing machine.

Drawing Club (Reception)

Pupils will be using their fine motor skills by paying attention to detail as we practise drawing characters, cartoons, objects and still life in this drawing session. Pupils will be taught to add features to their drawings for a realistic affect by following steps and stages.

Board Games Club (Years 6-10)

Join the board games club at school, it offers a vibrant social environment where pupils can bond over strategic gameplay, fostering teamwork and critical thinking skills. It provides a break from digital screens, encouraging face-to-face interaction and creating lasting memories through shared experiences and friendly competition.

Senior School Production (Years 6-10)

Excitement is in the air as rehearsals for the Middle and Upper School Production of ‘The Railway Children’ are now well underway! The rehearsal space is alive with creativity and energy as our talented young actors immerse themselves in bringing this timeless classic to life.

Basketball (Years 9-11)

Morning basketball club is a chance for pupils to improve their ball skills in preparation for the basketball season.

Girls Netball Training (Years 4-6)

Netball club is open to all pupils, regardless of their experience and ability. It is a formal coaching session that will help pupils develop their skills and understanding of how to play the game. Whether they want to play for the school team, improve their skills or just have some fun playing, then this is the club for them!

Boys Football (Years 2-3 and Years 4-5)

These sessions are for Year 2-3 and Year 4-5 respectively, and are led by an external academy coach, providing opportunities for pupils to improve on their skill set and potentially get selected for future school teams.

Girls Football (Years 5-7)

This club for girls in Years 5-7 provides an opportunity for girls to prepare for the up and coming football season and to continue to build on one of our most popular sports. It will be led by an external Harlow Ladies FC coach.

Social Badminton (Years 6-11)

Morning social badminton club is a chance for pupils to learn new skills and enjoy all that the sport has to offer.

Cricket (Year 5)

An opportunity to learn the basics of our national

summer sport. Sessions are specifically designed to help the children improve their balance and co-ordination with a strong emphasis on fun and games! Sessions will be focused on cricket specific skills and include an introduction to basic coaching techniques for batting and fielding. Small sided games are used to support your child’s understanding of playing cricket, tactics and sense of teamwork.

Cricket (Years 8-10)

Cricket club aims to improve pupils bowling, batting and fielding skills as well as develop match play.

Athletics (Years 6-10)

This club is a chance for pupils to further develop their track and field skill set. Pupils will be able to select specific events to work on each week including runs, jumps and throws. Staff are on hand to provide individual feedback and coach pupils through the technical skills of each athletics event.

Kwik Cricket Club (Years 6-7)

Pupils who participate in Kwik Cricket will have the opportunity to perfect cricket skills, such as changing the bowl to an underarm feed, learning the rules of Kwik Cricket, and ultimately working together as a team to develop a love of the sport. This club is open to boys and girls in Year 6 and Year 7 and takes place on a Thursday between 4pm and 5pm.

Karate

Karate is a great way to increase fitness, confidence and self-esteem. It is also a great forum in which to learn humility and respect for others, whilst also learning the basics of how to defend yourself. This weekly session is run by qualified UKA Sensei, Daniel Thackray.

Social Football (Years 6-11)

This club is a chance for pupils to enjoy playing the sport and continue to build their skills each week.
