Thus mob lynching means "death by mob." Mob lynching has a long history While there are many examples of mob punishment without trial in Europe, there are many such incidents of black people in America. The origin of the word lynching is believed to be associated with Captain William Lynch or Charles Lynch in the American Planetary War. William Lynch is said to have maintained a tribunal. of which he was a self-proclaimed judge and where he used to give all the simple death sentence to the accused without hearing the side of the accused and without any trial. Between 1882 and 1918, more than 3500 people were put to death here. This is a record in itself. The term lynching was coined in the year 1780 and its use was initially limited to America. Later this practice spread to other countries as well. In view of the increasing incidents of lynching in America, an anti-lynching law was enacted in 1922. In India too, incidents of mob lynching since ancient times cannot be ruled out. Incidents such as openly murder and honor killing of girls for love marriage with non-caste castes or wearing jeans-pants under modern ideas contrary to the prevailing customs, are frequent in some parts of western Uttar Pradesh. Similarly, under the traditions based on superstition, incidents of mob lynching and public beating of so-called lower class people by killing them often happen in India.
