About me

I have recently finished my Master’s degree in Architecture from Deakin University, Waterfront campus, Geelong , Australia.

Prior my Master’s, I worked as a professional Designer Architect at Darshan Medhi Architects in India, for 2 years.

In 2015 I completed my double bachelor’s degree in Architecture and Interior Design from Hiray College of Architecture from Mumbai University, India.

I am currently based in Geelong and have been casually working as a client’s architect to help design a masterplan of an old Fyansford paper mill.

My experience as an Architect has led me to become an eager, active individual who understands the significance and essence of teamwork.

I consider myself a responsible, organized and a creative person with a sharp insight and attention to details.

I take an active interest in sketching, traveling and exploring new places which helps me to broaden my perspective, and look at the world around me with a different lens. My travels have made me more perceptive to the cultural intricacies of Australia.

I aim to learn the international way of designing a building, with a desire to work for a firm that is passionate about sustainable and beautiful designs.

01 Interpretation center/ Fyansford, Geelong INTERPRETATION CENTER AT FYANSFORD PAPER MILL MASTERS OF ARCHITECTURE PROJECT Introduction: As we all know our existence is based on our history and it is important to understand, feel and preserve it.

Australia played a huge role in milling and industrialization during the late 18th century. Paper mills constructed in this century were one of its identities that represented the scale and position of Australian milling in international markets. Fyansford paper mill was one of those outstanding mills which were known to be the greatest paper mills in the southern hemisphere at that time. The scale of its construction was so vast that it was also known as ‘gigantic mill’ where no expenses were spared to build it. It had been the era's richest paper mill.

With 60 percent of its construction still in good and working condition, it is the only standing mill today.

Problem: Over the years that have gone by, the old structure appears to be standing strongly, but from the point of view of an architect, after close study, it can be seen that the building has been abandoned for years , resulting in several significant losses. Authorities' failure to restore this 140-year-old heritage building has resulted in the destruction, buckling and collapse of a few sections that can not be imagined in conditions after 10 years.

Intention: The aim is not only to save the old heritage structure but also to build awareness of the public and to increase their understanding of heritage site. The aim of the project would be to enhance and boost visitor experience by helping them appreciate the importance of the site or the places they visit.

Proposition: The proposal is to give an architectural touch to the heritage structure on its three main modes of design , i.e. restoration of the structural elements, renovation of the external cladding where the site demands and provide an extension that not only respects the existing heritage form but also helps to frame and portray its existence and uplift its historical storey. It could be done by designing paper museums in the old stone structure in an interpretative manner with a paper making studio as an addition to it. The design also highlights some historical elements of the old stone structure that will form a physical and emotional link between the building and the visitors resulting in engagement with the proposed design.

02 Motera Cricket Stadium / Gujarat, India EXPANSION OF EXISTING CRICKET STADIUM AT GUJARAT PROFESSIONAL PROJECT In 2015, the Government of Gujarat, India, proposed a design competition to reinvent, convert, and design the world’s largest cricket stadium : Motera . This stadium was aimed to seat 125,000 spectators.

The ‘Three stand’ concept was proposed keeping in mind the context of the site, and also to celebrate the view of Sabarmati river. The thought of design elements reflects and represents the culture of Gujarat and signifies its traditional essence.

Motera Cricket Stadium / Gujarat, India CLUBHOUSE OF CRICKET STADIUM AT GUJARAT PROFESSIONAL PROJECT It is an extension of the design form of a club house to the great cricket stadium. It’s architectural intent is one of its timeless need, purity of lines and simplicity of materials, warmly lit to invite one into the building.

To match the standards with the stadium, the clubhouse hauls an Olympic scale of various sports arenas and courts like swimming pools, badminton, basketball, tennis and many other indoor sport courts.

Core of the building has been divided by central promenade which functionally separates the commercial and residential part of the building.

Development of residential program has been proposed as phase 2 design consideration, as per clients demands.

03 The Veterinary Institute / Khalapur Mumbai, India RURAL DEVELOPMENT INTO EDUCATIONAL HUB BACHELORS PROJECT This Project is a veterinary institute in a rural area of Khalapur. This small village is located between two major cities, Mumbai and Pune, in the state of Maharashtra, India. An engagement of full semester was spent on designing, developing, research and experimentation essential for this project This project had a strict programmatic requirement considering its social context of a neglected workingclass in its neighborhood.

The veterinary institute needed to address the needs of community, while also contributing to the development of the surrounding area.

The proposed design takes an advantage of nourishing the surrounding locality, by providing them needful facilities for there cattles and pets as farming is their major means of earning. It creates an awareness regarding the well-being of animals, and their treatments.

The program holds various functions on the site such as a veterinary clinic, an Institutional building, accommodation for students and staff, and a multipurpose building for various functions. The site is located on the bank of a small channel which has a perennial flow of water.

Staff quarters This northeast-side structure plays an important role in balancing the orientation of the site.

The building consists of two main blocks. The v shaped block accommodates the non-teaching staff which caters to the function of the entire site, while the adjacent block is for the teaching staff of this institute.

The blocks have been differentiated in their designs according to the grades and standards of living.

The central circular part is a sand pit, which acts a playing area for the children of the staff.

It is a five-storey high building which is remarkable on its own in comparison to the rest of the structures because of its unique shape and plan.

Hostel Building Situated in the northern most tip of the site, the structure lies in most proximity to nature.

This hostel building consists of three blocks, east side is the girl’s dormitory which faces the staff quarters in lieu of security. The West side is the boy’s dormitory. The northern side is the mess which connects the two structure and makes itself easily accessible.

Central core has been designed as an Amphitheater for multipurpose events and social gatherings.

Special attention has been given to the hostel mess structure and its design. Efforts to create a stress free environment for students and so its placements have been made to celebrate nature, and the existence of the river.

04 The Cleaver and Creative corridor/ Geelong, Australia NORTHEN AND WESTERN GEELONG GROWTH AREA MASTERS OF ARCHITECTURE URBAN PROJECT Introduction: The City of Greater Geelong developed the course of action for the areas of potential growth. The Northern and Western Growth Areas have been identified as the most potential areas able to cater for the growing Geelong population. Geelong functions in Victoria as the principal centre of business and economic organizations.

The Northern Geelong Growth Area provides panoramic views of the Corio Bay, linking the Avalon Airport to Geelong ports. This has a precinct area of 2,089 hectares and is estimated to generate over 17,000 new dwellings. It creates incentives for job growth and trade.

Whereas, due to the proximity of the Moorabool River and the Barwon River, the Western Geelong Growth Areas have good potential for waterfront growth. This has a field of study of 3,245 Hectares and is planned to produce up to 22,000 new dwellings. The two areas of expansion have plans to add about 98,000 people.

Planning strategies and scenarios have been identified, in consultation with the local government authorities and stakeholders. Among these are key approaches to self-sufficient development areas that provide affordable housing for their residents and opportunists on fair jobs.

The field of northern and western development has the closet proximity to existing regional areas of Victoria. It is divided by the Ring Road from Corio and by West Geelong. The ring road, on the one hand, simplifies road connectivity to Melbourne while, on the other hand, divides the enormous precinct, reducing the possibility of further development connecting the two regions.

Wet land development This is one of the initial points to access the corridor on the western side of the precinct.

As explained before, the main concept of the corridor is to make it vehicular free, hence the starting point is initiated with the provision of a huge amount of parking to accommodate the vehicles of people who would be accessing the corridor. While traveling through the corridor, the design proposes to view a food production process passing through various areas, connecting the major nodes as it will also justify the design concept.

Laying out the planning and connectivity in hexagonal shape also lets the free movement of traffic flow in rest of the site. On the other side of the main entrance, we also made efforts to conserve existing wetland area and develop it into a beautiful landscape by providing a high rise deck for tourists to walk over. Here, people would be able to experience natural forms and feel of wetlands without disturbing nature and its elements. The reason to preserve this wetland is that natural elements like rivers have been respected and worshiped by aboriginal communities. If we consider today's climatic conditions, rivers are drying up and to improve their quality we need wetland areas. As a result, in order to preserve them, a proposal has been made to provide wetland parks with more amount of plantation and natural elements. This park also lets a person take a walk through woods and helps him in realizing the importance of natural elements and a way to preserve it

Night Activities Space is given for star gazing at night over the hexagonal region.

There will be comparatively less activity in this area, as there is no other nearby activity space.

Existing railway station development As this node of the site consists of an existing railway station connecting Geelong to Ballarat, It stimulated us to develop its surrounding area and make it a flow of transition from communal hub to the farm lands. While passing through the design corridor one could easily see and feel a gradual change from higher to lower density spaces. A feel of how compact metro spaces change gradually into medium density housings, followed by lower density housings, and then merge with farmland areas. This change was very essential to show because, in future, one should realize the cost of taking nature for granted before making any further transitions in the guise of development. We also have made sure that the shadow of the corridor will not over cast on any surrounding structure.

Day Activities: Aboriginal tourist hub, food trails and tourist stay. With indigenous activities, the central open space is created, and music and storey is presented to the visitors.

The tasks on the roof are tree climbing for some fascinating space of action showing relation to the aboriginal group.

Night Activities: Star gazing space, bonfire show, stay for the tourists close to the community. The stay in the center acts as passive design for corridors and other activity areas during this time. The areas given on the top can be used in different ways at two different times. The bridge connecting this radius is used as a viewing gallery from a height into the forest areas.

05 Waurn ponds mall/ Geelong, Australia ENHANCE CURRENT USE IN TO MIX USE ZONE MASTERS OF ARCHITECTURE URBAN PROJECT Given that the Geelong Region is anticipated to experience a 40% increase in growth over the next 30 years, taking the population to 500,000 by 2050, it is timely that we begin to explore the challenges of these forecasted growth projections on some of the regions neighborhood activity strips and suburban activity Centers.

The site is a regional level shopping and active recreational center, servicing the southern suburbs of Geelong and the surrounding region. As an important part of the city’s growth areas, the recent expansion along Ghazeepore Road, Rossack Drive and the Waurn Ponds creek corridor have left a patchwork of key infill sites that invite imaginative mixed-use design responses.

While vehicular movement patterns clearly dominate and segregate the area, there exists a great opportunity to tie the precinct together through a rich network of pedestrian paths, cycle trails and an array of well designed open public spaces.

The Mixed Use Zone enables a range of residential, commercial, industrial and other uses which complement the mixed use function of the locality, providing housing at higher densities which responds to the existing or preferred character of an area. The likely application of the Mixed Use Zone is in areas with a mix of residential and non-residential development; in local neighborhood centers undergoing renewal

Enhanced pedestrian experience / Bangalore, India UPGRADATION OF BUSINESS PARK AT BANGALORE PROFESSIONAL PROJECT The landscape design encompasses the refurbishment of all common outdoor spaces for the entire campus.

Connectivity and identity are key principles that are promoted in the overall landscape master plan. To highlight the spirit of the place, the existing rock outcrop is featured and redeveloped as a park and scenic corridor.

The streetscape is envisioned to be revitalized with fresh and modern theme. The use of bright color energizes the gateways, corridors and reprogrammed open spaces. Art work and site furniture give strong visual character and fun activity while the lush greenery offer reprieve from the Bangalore climate.

The landscape master plan and design aims to unify the various retail and commercial components within the site. Entrance gateways and arrival plazas clarify the circulation and lend a unique identity to the individual tenants. Lounge pavilions, uniform street scape and outdoor seating pods activate the landscape areas.

Vibrant seating, garden lounges and the water court form a perfect setting for the visitors.

07 Slum Rehabilitation Area/ Antophill, Mumbai, India REHABILITATION OF MUMBAI SLUMS INTO RESIDENTIAL TOWERS PROFESIONAL PRACTICE PROJECT SRAA Project is a strategically significant project for Mumbai Slums. The proposal involves redevelopment of healthy and lively but compact accommodations to reduce maximum amount of slums from neighboring area at Antophill. The Following project consist of 4 Towers each of 24 Floors.

Located in one of the most of the shady slums of Mumbai i.e. Antophill, Wadala, the project offers regenerating the concept of design ideology to generate the concept of further SRA projects in surrounding area. Concept to derive the building is the way it is rendered. Selecting the shady pallet of Gray and White from its context as the elevation depicts the sorrows and daily troublesome life of lower-class residence but as you go close to the building, the colorful pattern form under the ‘Chajjas’ will enlighten your sprit which will helps in daily survival of such mediocre residence.

08 The Lumiere High rise/ Andheri, Mumbai, India A LUXORIOUS RESIDENTIAL TOWER IN MUMBAI METROPOLITIAN REGION PROFESIONAL PRACTICE PROJECT SVP7 A joint venture of Shapoorji Pallonji and the Dilip Thacker Group, set as SD Corp, responsible for some of India’s most acclaimed real estate projects. The design agendas are committed to building a vibrant future for generations ahead through a successful enterprise, leveraging existing platforms and creating new ones for tomorrow. Design mission is to develop flagship redevelopment projects, a service orientation and to also establish international presence with iconic real estate developments in other global financial centers.

SVP7 is design for one of its kind building in a very compact site location in Andheri, Mumbai. The building design includes underground basement for services purpose. Its ground floor is design for commercial purpose as it suffice the need of its site context.

The building include 5 floor mechanical stilt parking which was quite new for my experience. 6th floor includes heavy slab to support the rest residential floors hauling on its top.

The purpose of this design was to deliver the best in a very compact space by redeveloping communities, transforming lives and creating quality spaces.

09 Working Drawings CONSTRUCTION WORKING DRAWING OF PROMARY SCHOOL BACHELORS PROJECT The aim of this project was to produce construction working drawing of a past project while considering it is a load bearing structure. This project was conducted in 2013 where it was essential to lear and understand the materials and the way they are used for load bearing structure.

It is constructed by clay brick walls standing on its own with timber flooring design and wooden trusses as roofs.

A typical wooden windows reminds of old British architecture as the site was selected in Mumbai. The following drawings also includes centerline plan in positioning the building on site by two point zoning method.

This project was the first experience to understand the differences between architectural design drawings and good for construction working drawings.

10 Residential Interior Project/ Baner, Pune, India RESIDENTIAL INTERIOR PROJECT FOR BARAT GITE PROFESIONAL PRACTICE PROJECT The client hoped for a luxurious, spacious and richness appearance. The thought behind Gite’s interior was of building a unique space with a touch of exuberance in every detailing. The designing effort gave the space an openness by seamlessly connecting the indoors with the outdoors. This was done through the use of floor length windows in the living room, positioning celling mirrors for more open ness and many more details.

The colour palette used is restricted to rich beige which contrasts with the wooden texture of the furniture. A pop of colour is added through the vibrant coloured cushions and upholstery. Customized lighting fixtures highlight the elements aptly to create a sense of freshness and tranquility.

The designer furniture adds an element of luxury as it accentuates the corners and living spaces. With some pieces of furniture blending in with the surroundings while others standing out give a character to the overall interior vibe
