Bi-Monthly Trophy Race (4&5)

The 4th instalment of the BTR was held on 9th July with a fairly steady breeze.

Race 1 of the day was sailed on course 2 with the sailors crossing the finishing line shortly after the start.

Race 2 commenced with course 6 – a sausage course that requires the sailors to sail from the start line to port round Denman Buoy, port rounding the pin end mark and back to port round Denman Buoy before crossing the finishing line.

On 10th September, the 5th series encountered a light winds and a strong easterly currents.

First warning signal was given at 1400hrs with numeral pennant 2 up. This instructed the sailors to race from the start line between SAF Yacht Club’s flag post at the marina to the pin end perpendicular away (port rounding on Simpang Buoy and port rounding on Beaulieu Buoy) before crossing the finishing line between the SAF Yacht Club’s flag post and the finishing mark.

Two boats, Piccanini and Zephyr were unable to exonerate themselves due to a lull but have been able to scored On Course Side (OCS) for this race.

After a hard-fought race from series 1 through series 5 where the fleet finished extremely close, Scarlett O’ Hara managed to come out on top with a win, followed by Baby Beluga in 2nd and Innis Free in 3rd.

With the win for Scarlett O'Hara, this brings them level on points with Piccanini on the overall standings with Innis Free trailing just 1 point behind them.

They will be battling it out on the 12th of November in our final series of BTR for 2022.
