Concept Sketches

As part of my sixth-semester design studio, I worked with two other students to create a series of objects that would “implement speculative public spaces based on the current mismanagement of equitable access, corporeal comfort, and personal belonging in many of our existing outdoor spaces.” Our final deliverables centered around sculpture-like installations that would encourage support and comfort.

We focused on creating a mythical spiritual center for animals, humans, and spirits along the Pacific Crest Trail. This center would be identified by visFinding itors by theForm curved formations made of fossilized wood. Part of the story of this center is that the locals would give art as offerings for protection in the upcoming year.

One of the deliverables for this project was to create a 1:1 scale model of our design. Our team chose to recreate the base of the tallest formation out of wood and insulation foam. We also created a scaled 3D model of the full site, as well as a night-to-day timelapse of the imagined space through Blender.

Space Combat ‘02 December 2022 - Instructor: Kevin Finch Landsc A.Ip: Chickens, Eggs, and the Futility of it All

A topic studio that evaluated contemporary design imagery and identified the areas of inexactitudes that are in direct contradiction with all design institutions’ reactionary statements regarding equity, inclusion, public space, and environmentalism. In crafting an honest space using all basic methods of communication [reading, writing, speaking, listening, and visualizing], I made and re-made digital spaces using Artificial Intelligence text and image generation tools. This exploration culminated in a digitally assisted exhibition that made use of current 3D modeling, rendering, and animation techniques.

Woodcraft Rangers: Camp Amphitheater May 2022 - Instructor: Anne Clark Design IV: Ecology + Design Laboratory Partners: Azusena Macias & Ethan Veirs

DIAGRAMMING

Located in the San Bernadino Valley, Camp Woodcraft Rangers was looking for a large gathering space for all of their campers to congregate. Additionally, they were looking for this space so the campers could meet up without relying on a campfire, since the climate in the Valley is very prone to wildfires. Woodcraft Rangers was also looking for spaces to hold an outdoor classroom, a program the amphitheater could be used for.

Design has been something I have always been curious about. I took up film and digital photography throughout high school and was fascinated by the ability to share a story through a single frame captured from reality.

I gravitated toward film photography because of its unfiltered nature and discovered how the process of taking photos and developing them in the darkroom, is an art form in itself, allowing me to think in-depth about the subject. Over time, the way I saw the world changed from a passive perspective to an observant one, noticing the art embedded within each aspect of our natural world.

As I continued to broaden my capacity for creativity, graphic design allowed me to create unrealistic images through photo manipulation. As I Photoshop, I am allowed to play with reality and manipulate it into anything, from a fantasy world to a surrealist perspective
