1

ONLINE TRAINING Take online safety courses to increase awareness and understanding of hazards. Topics covered: pre-start inspection, working with attachments, preventing rollovers, and best work practices.

2

CHECK SURROUNDINGS Before starting work, inspect the surroundings for potential hazards. Look out for bystanders, power/water/gas lines, trenches/ditches, uneven ground, and other equipment/assets.

3

PRE-INSPECT EQUIPMENT Perform a thorough inspection of the skid steer loader before operation.

4

CONDUCT A JOB HAZARD ASSESSMENT (JHA)

Check rims and tires, fuel/oil/hydraulic fluid levels, for leaks or pooling of fluids, structural damage, and cleanliness of the cab and surroundings.

Engage others in a tool-box meeting to assess job hazards. Identify goals, potential risks, and develop strategies to mitigate those risks.

5

HAVE A PLAN Preplan and train to mitigate hazards, but have a backup plan for unforeseen circumstances. Consider potential risks, emergency contacts, accessibility of medical stations or first-aid kits, rollover possibilities, and reliability of safety devices

Remember, following these safety tips will help ensure the safe operation of a skid steer loader and reduce accidents on the job site. Stay safe!
