SAE’s Graduate Certificate of Software Development is designed for working professionals without a relevant bachelor’s degree who want to formalise their experience and gain a recognised qualification to step confidently into postgraduate study.

You’ll build foundational expertise across programming, web development, databases, networks, cloud computing, and cyber security, while developing the critical thinking, project planning and problem-solving skills that employers demand. SAE’s MIT is an industry-relevant and modern course shaped by our legacy in creative media and technology education. By seamlessly blending technology and creativity, we’re nurturing the next generation of digital pioneers. Developed in line with Australian Computer Society (ACS) standards for forward-thinking professionals, this industryrelevant course combines technical expertise with real-world application, ensuring graduates are equipped for careers in AI and machine learning, software development, cyber security, data analysis and beyond.

Our hands-on, practical learning model incorporates real-world industry projects and work integrated learning. With an extensive industry partnerships program, SAE students gain realworld experience working on client-based projects such as developing data dashboards for nonprofits or collaborating with music and design students on interdisciplinary projects powered by generative AI.

Client Based Project Management

The Client Based Project Management unit offers hands-on experience in managing tech projects for real clients, a crucial skill for IT professionals. Working in teams, you’ll apply agile methodologies to develop innovative software solutions while considering social and environmental impacts. Capstone Projects

In our capstone project, you’ll have the opportunity to showcase your expertise in project management and design by delivering innovative software solutions to tackle real-world challenges. Cyber Security

The Cyber Security unit delves into effective data security risk management within modern networked and cloud-based environments. Mobile Development

In this unit, you will develop an understanding of the mobile development space, and build theoretical and practical knowledge and skills to develop apps. Be introduced to and critically analyse both the technical aspects of mobile application development and effective user experience. Apply your learning across a range of real-world projects to further your understanding of key development elements including application lifecycles, cross-platform development, the mobile application/web relationship and how to launch your mobile app.

Blockchain Technology

Build your knowledge of the business processes blockchain is redefining and how blockchain interconnects with complementary technology ecosystems. Develop expertise to adapt and apply your knowledge and technical skills and embed processes and analytical thinking to challenges that balance the economic advancement of business with social responsibility through the deployment of blockchain solutions. Apply your learning across a range of real-world projects to further your understanding of Blockchain Systems and Architecture, Token Economics, Cryptocurrencies, Smart Contracts, and use cases for small and medium enterprises.

Web Development

In this unit, you will be introduced to and gain experience using a range of web development technologies to design and develop web applications. You will build knowledge of industry standards and best practice and demonstrate how these can be implemented in different contexts. You will apply your learning across a range of real-world projects to further your understanding of the key elements, attributes and applicability of web development.
