Morning Enrichment Classes Lower and Middle School June 15 - July 24 from 9 a.m. - Noon

Camp Cavalier's morning classes offer a dynamic learning environment for children interested in refining their skills and expanding their knowledge while having fun in a safe space. Classes are taught by Country Day faculty or staff who have worked on campus for many years.

Camp Cavalier's philosophy is consistent with the school's mission, which inspires intellectual discovery and engages a diverse community to think critically, live creatively, and act compassionately.

Campus opens at 8:30 a.m. daily. Please refrain from dropping off your camper before this time, as our staff are busy preparing for the day and are unavailable to provide supervision until the gates open.

Lower School (Incoming K-5th graders) can participate in two 3-week full-day sessions. The full-day program is 9 a.m.-4 p.m. with extended care available for an additional fee.

Middle School (Incoming 6th-8th graders) can participate in two 3-week half-day sessions from 9 a.m.-Noon with the option of staying on campus for lunch. The latest pick-up is 1 p.m. for no additional fee.

Following Camp Cavalier Classes, Lower School campers will participate in a series of activities led by camp counselors. Each week will have its own fun theme and campers are encouraged to dress up if they would like.

There is no food service available on campus. Please send a lunch and afternoon snack with your child. Please have your child come to camp in comfortable attire. Closed-toed shoes only, sneakers are preferred. Extended Care is available from 4-5:30 p.m. Advance registration is preferred at $15 per hour. Drop-in is available at a rate of $25 per hour.

Bee Ready 4 Kinder Bee Ready 4 Kindergarten will have us “buzzing” through stories, academics, games, and art! Each day in our “hive” has a different theme. “Busy bees” will have fun as they learn and practice skills. We know your child will have a “buzzing” good time!

Celebrations Around the World Every day is a party as we travel around the world! We will study maps and sample the customs of many cultures through games, art, food, and stories. Together, we will celebrate our similarities and our differences and explore how other cultures celebrate major holidays. Students may even discover a new custom to share with friends and family. Come party with us!

Movers and Makers Each day will feature a theme to lead our artistic inquiries. Whether we are dancing our way through the Amazon jungle, painting our way to outer space, or making music around an imaginary campfire, each lesson will provide our movers and makers with a chance to take artistic risks, develop creative expression, and increase visual and performing art literacy in a fun and playful setting!

Full STEAM Ahead Come play with us at a place where curiosity meets creativity! We will explore, build, and create using our imagination and our incredible brainpower. We will draw inspiration from storybooks for our activities in Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math. Join us on a summer adventure you will never forget... full STEAM ahead!

Dragons, Wizards, and Fairies, Oh My! Enjoy hearing different fairy tales each day. We’ll do art projects, puppet making, and maybe even some cooking, along with a bit of learning. All young knights, princesses, fairies, and wizards are welcome. Come dressed for fun in the Camp Cavalier fairy tale castle. The End.

Dive into First Grade Calling all former kindergartners! Are you ready to put on your snorkel and flippers and dive into first grade? This summer, get a jump on your first-grade skills. We will surf the waves to tackle reading, math, and science! We’ll go under the sea to read about animals, count sea creatures, and get ready to lead our class into first grade in the fall!

Reading Camp Out During this exciting week, we’ll work together to “unlock” our reading camp-out celebration! This camp will focus on building essential reading skills for beginning and early readers. Each student will spend the week reading at their own personal reading level, solidifying letter/sound recognition, reading in small groups, going on sound hunts, making their own sight word games, and reading, reading, reading! Get ready for s’more fun than you can handle!

Sweet Treats It's time to feast your eyes on yummy desserts and create your own in art form! Join us for a week of fun as we paint, draw, and sculpt sugary and delicious treats, such as cakes, ice cream, candy, and cupcakes! The dentist will thank you because these creations will not be consumed, but enjoyed as appetizing pieces of art!

Water Fun Water is essential for all living things and covers more than 70% of our planet. In our Water Fun camp, we will examine the properties of water, create art with water, play games with water, and develop our engineering skills with water projects. Let’s explore this amazing natural resource together!

Wild About Animals Are you wild about animals? Do you want to know more about how our animals see, hear, and sense their world? If you enjoy our furry friends or those with feathers or scales, then Wild About Animals is for you! We will learn about the animals that live in and around our homes and explore some wild friends, too.

Catch a Wave to Second Grade This class prepares students for second grade. Teaching routines and skills that will be used in second grade will help ensure your child is ready for next year! We will have mini-lessons in reading, writing, and math workshops. This 0class helps children feel like experts and approach their first days of school with enthusiasm and confidence.

Dino Dig Come join us for an exciting look at dinosaurs and their fossils. Learn how to be a paleontologist (a scientist who discovers fossils) while digging for “bones” and making fossils of your very own. This class is guaranteed to be a dino-mite time!

Summer T.A.L.E.S. Come explore the Tastes, Art, Lessons, Experiences, and Stories that good books can inspire! We'll read some childhood favorites, and hopefully some unfamiliar books too. We'll be inspired to try the art styles of the illustrators, make food, talk about lessons, and perhaps even act out some of the stories we read. We'll try writing some of our tales, and we'll see where books can take us!

Soarin’ Superheroes Calling all superheroes! ZAP! VROOM! SPLAT! BOOM! It’s time to jump into action and make superific art! Spend your week creating costumes, cities, comic strips, and life-sized heroes. This class is the perfect fit for children who have huge imaginations and want to save the world.

ERAS History Step back in time with Mrs. Cooley and bring the Decades to life! We will explore the 20's, 60's, 80's 90's and the 21st century through the history of toys, hands-on activities, music, fashion, and interactive lessons. This class is designed to make history fun and provide a deeper understanding of how the past shapes our world today.

Harry Potter Expecto Patronum! Are you ready to join the Wizarding World of Harry Potter right here at Camp Cavalier? In this class, we will be journeying out of the Muggle world into the world of Hogwarts, Diagon Alley, Platform 9 3/4, and so much more. We will discover our Hogwarts houses, make our magic wands, learn spells, cook up “potions," and more.

Dance Factory Come move, be creative, express yourself, and have fun with your friends! In this camp, you will explore the elements of dance, including body, energy, space, and time, as you participate in dance warm-ups, technique and skillbuilding exercises, improvisations, and create your choreography!

Flying into Third Grade Houston, we have a problem! Get ready to soar into orbit on your path to third grade as we navigate through our curriculum. We will center our summer mission on the Hidden Figures mathematicians of NASA, creative writing, math, science, and art. Blast off on an amazing adventure as a Third Grade Astronaut-in-Training!

Magic School Bus Buckle up, campers… the Magic School Bus has pulled into Camp Cavalier! Join Mr. Gutierrez for a session filled with magical “STEAM” adventures. Each day campers will engage in projects, art, writing activities, and experiments. With the help of Magic School Bus videos and books, there is no telling where the adventures will lead. Just as “The Frizz” says, Mr. Gutierrez encourages you to hop on the bus, take chances, make mistakes, and get messy!

Math Magicians Math games, projects, and mini-lessons will be used to refresh math brains in this summer class. Throughout this week, foundational concepts will be reviewed, and new concepts will be previewed surrounding measurement, geometry, fractions, the math of ancient civilizations, and problem-solving as math detectives.

Xylophones, Recorders, Ukuleles, & More Join us for a summer of music-making fun! In this interactive class, campers will explore a variety of instruments, including xylophones, recorders, and ukuleles. Students will learn basic playing techniques, practice rhythm and melody, and even create their own musical performances. No prior experience needed—just bring your enthusiasm!

Painting Learn the different techniques and painting styles of master artists. Students will learn color theory, brush application, and different art genres, as well as complete a portfolio of work to be displayed at a camp art show for campers at the end of the week.

Fourth Grade Readiness Westward Ho! Learn the trails of a fourth grader as we pioneer through our curriculum. Get ready to take on creative writing, multi-digit multiplication, decimals, and California history. We will create art using many different mediums.

Learning to understand the genre, predict, make inferences, ask questions, visualize, and summarize while learning is what fourth grade is all about.

Multi-Sport Campers will participate in basketball, volleyball, flag football, and kickball in this week-long class. Coach will focus on fun exercises to build confidence and teach the fundamental movement skills of kicking, passing, receiving, footwork, serving, and shooting. Finally, exciting and innovative games will be played to foster sportsmanship and teamwork while promoting staying physically active over the summer break.

Makerspace The Makerspace is a place for kids to get creative and make things. Students will learn to use creative and flexible thinking and problem-solving while gaining new skills. They will come up with ideas, find inspiration in the materials available, or play with resources set out each day to entice them to get messy and creative.

Pop Art Are you ready to make your art POP?! POP Art was an artistic movement started in the 1950s and 1960s, inspired by popular and commercial culture. This week will be full of color, excitement, and a look into history as we make two and three-dimensional art pieces. Be ready to embrace happy and bright images and learn to view the world around you in a whole new way.

Myth Masters Once upon a time, in a land far, far away…there was a class to learn all about Myths, Tales, Fables, and Folklore. In Myth Masters, you will take a deep dive into the land of the past to study stories, art, and life lessons from the world of ancient mythology. Bring a sense of magic and wonder to enjoy this class.

Volleyball Bump, set, spike—let’s play! This volleyball camp is perfect for campers looking to improve their skills, learn the game, and have a blast. Players will work on fundamental techniques like serving, passing, setting, and hitting while developing teamwork and sportsmanship through drills and fun games. Whether you’re a beginner or have some experience, this camp is a great opportunity to grow as a player and build confidence on and off the court.

World Building World Building is designed for junior artists, writers, directors, or anyone with a grand imagination. What is world-building? It is the process used for creating fictional worlds in books, movies, games, and art. We will cover the most successful fictional worlds and what makes them so popular. From there, we break down every detail in the process of world creation. Students are then encouraged to design their own worlds using their favorite media.

Re-Imagined: The Art of Upcycle Forget what you know about "recycled crafts"—this isn’t about paper plate masks. Re-Imagined is designed for artists and inventors who want to challenge the "throwaway culture." In this course, we treat the recycling bin like a treasure chest. Throughout the week, you’ll develop a signature "upcycled aesthetic" and learn how to use art as a tool for environmental advocacy. By the end of the session, you won’t just have a portfolio of unique pieces; you’ll have a new perspective on the world around you. One person’s trash? It’s your next masterpiece.

Ancrum Academy Coach Ancrum’s professional basketball career includes playing for coaching legend Phil Jackson and numerous scoring titles. “Ank’s” expertise and ability to teach character make this a wonderful experience for players at any level. Instruction includes skill development, team play, and an impressive list of guest speakers.

Sports Week Did you know that over 90% of Division I athletes played multiple sports when they were in high school? Throughout the week, students will spend time learning more about the rules, techniques, and strategies of a variety of sports. From soccer to flag football to tennis, students will play and practice against each other to hone their skills and become better overall athletes. We end the week with a field trip off campus. All skill levels and experiences are welcome!

Puzzles and Codes In this course, students will put their problem-solving skills and teamwork to the test as they spend a week attempting to solve puzzles, crack some of the most notorious codes from history, and complete several on-campus escape rooms. The week ends with a trip to a local escape room, where we put our skills to the test and see how much we've grown as problem solvers!

Leadership and Life Skills Leadership and Life Skills is part social club, part strategy HQ, and part survival training. We’re here to turn your child from a passenger into the pilot of their own life. No boring lectures, no "busy work"—just the skills you actually need to go from "clueless" to "conqueror." We end the week with a field trip off campus.

The Rooted Heart Students will tend to the garden, learning about planting, growing, and harvesting fresh produce. Then, they’ll head to the kitchen to turn their harvest into delicious dishes and snacks. Creative craft activities inspired by nature add even more fun to the mix! As a special service component, students will prepare food donations to support the local food bank, giving back to the community in a meaningful way. Garden work can be muddy, physically demanding, and sometimes hot. We will work outdoors in the mornings, even when it's warm, with regular water breaks in the shade. Class will take field trips around the surrounding area.

Middle School Newspaper In this class, students will have the opportunity to write, design, and publish their newspaper. You will learn different types of writing, from crafting an unbiased news story to writing editorials and features. You may choose to write about several different topics, including sports, middle school events, local stores and restaurants, and current issues in our community and society. By the end of the week, we will produce and publish our Camp Cavalier newspaper!

Cavalier CSI Step into the world of real-life crime-solving in this exciting, hands-on CSI summer class. Students will become forensic investigators as they analyze fingerprints, decode DNA clues, examine mystery substances, and reconstruct crime scenes using real scientific tools and techniques.

Through interactive labs, team challenges, and a final mock investigation, students will sharpen their observation skills, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities while working like true detectives.

Polices and Procedures

Drop-Off and Pick-Up Times Please note, all drop-offs and pick-ups will be staggered and occur at the curb. To help reduce schedule conflicts, younger siblings can be dropped off and/or picked up with older siblings.

Morning Arrivals 8:30-9 a.m. for K-8th Grade Students Afternoon Dismissals 6th-8th Grade Students from 12-12:10 p.m. with an option to stay until 1 p.m. Please send a lunch with your camper if you would like them to eat lunch on campus.

9th-12th Grade Students from 12:30-12:45 p.m.

Kinder-2nd Grade Students from 3:50-4:00 p.m.

3rd-5th Grade Students at 4:00 p.m.

Extended Care Extended Care is available to Kinder-5th Grade students from 4-5:30 p.m. for an additional fee. Advance registration is preferred at $15 per hour. Drop-in is available at a rate of $25 per hour.

Late Pick-Up Policy The late pick-up penalty is $14 for the first minute and $1 for each additional minute. Repeated late pick-ups may result in the child’s suspension or dismissal from the program.

Community Conduct and Behavioral Policy Students participating in the Summer Program must follow and support Country Day's Community Code of Conduct. As an extension of the school year program, Summer Camp aligns its behavioral policies with the Lower School and Middle School divisions. Behavior or language perceived by the Director or designated staff as mean-spirited, hurtful, unsafe, or threatening may result in suspension or dismissal from the program. This includes any behavior that undermines our goal to best serve the needs of all participants.

Allergy Policy Sacramento Country Day School values the safety of all of our community members and exercises some common-sense precautions to support students who have specific allergies. Though we are not a nut-free school, we strive to make it safer for children and adults with food allergies to participate in the full range of activities available at Camp Cavalier.

The School’s responsibilities: We will educate the Camp Cavalier employees about allergies, signs, and symptoms of allergy and anaphylaxis, and provide training on the use of epinephrine (Epi-Pens and other such devices). Each child with a known allergy will have an Allergy and Anaphylaxis Emergency Care Plan in the Camp office. We will educate students and parents about allergies and appropriate precautions. Each employee will be made aware of which children in their care have serious allergies.

Children may not share or trade food with each other. We will inform other parents if a student’s allergy is so severe that particular items cannot be brought to Camp.

The Family’s responsibilities: Parents/guardians should provide a complete Allergy and Anaphylaxis Emergency Care Plan to the Summer Director/Camp office and inform us if your child’s allergy could be triggered by casual contact with the allergen (e.g. touch or inhalation rather than ingestion). If this is the case, more specific precautions will be implemented to minimize the possibility of contact. Please also provide all proper medication for your child. Families are also encouraged to provide labeled treats to have on hand, as children with known allergies may not eat food provided by others. If needed, treats may be stored in the refrigerator or freezer on campus. Parents/guardians should continue to educate and remind their child to limit his/her foods to those provided by or approved by the family and remind teachers, parents, and, if desired, classmates about food allergies.

Smoke Day Policy The following guidelines will be implemented for summer 2026: AQI of 200+: A sudden spike in AQI will be monitored and may not necessarily require closure. However, when AQI reaches 201 and is forecast to remain above 200, we will close campus. When a closure is necessary, remote learning will continue as scheduled for High School classes while Lower School and Middle School classes and recreation programs are cancelled until further notice. Camp fees will not be refunded for smoke day closures.

AQI of 150+: All authorized activities on campus will remain indoors and doors and windows will remain closed with our AC filtration system running.

AQI of 135-149: All authorized outdoor activities on campus will be permitted, with the exception of athletics classes which will be moved indoors. Sensitive individuals will be asked to remain indoors. All windows and doors will remain open for ventilation of indoor activities.

Photography Policy Country Day reserves the right to use photos from Camp Cavalier for social media accounts, future brochures, and other promotional materials.

How To Register

The registration link will be emailed to Country Day students on March 18. The link will be available for non-Country Day students on March 25 at www.saccds.org/summer. Registration closes on May 15. Instructions on how to register will be sent out to Country Day families via email and posted on the school's website for non-Country Day families.

When you register online, you will select the session(s) you want your child(ren) to participate in at Camp Cavalier. A deposit is required at the time of registration and is non-refundable. The remaining balance will be billed to your 2026-27 Blackbaud Tuition Management account for July and August billing. A Blackbaud Tuition Management account will be created for nonCountry Day families after completing the registration form.

Camp Cavalier is filled on a first-come, first-serve basis. In the event that the session you signed up for is full, please contact Joy Pangilinan at jpangilinan@saccds.org and she will place you in the wait pool. The Summer Director is responsible for making final decisions on a camper's enrollment and registration. Financial assistance is available to families to ensure all campers have the opportunity to participate in the Camp Cavalier experience. Payment The remaining balance due for Camp Cavalier will be billed and paid using your 2026-27 Blackbaud Tuition Management account. Invoices will be sent via email on the 1st of July and August. Payments are due no later than the 20th of each invoiced month. Automatic payments can be set up with Blackbaud Tuition Management. Payments can be made via the Blackbaud Tuition Management website, over the phone, via mobile app, or by mail. All credit and debit card payments are subject to a 3.12% credit card convenience fee. Blackbaud Management accepts ACH payments and checks without additional fees.

Checks should be payable to Blackbaud Management. Blackbaud Management will charge a late fee of $40 if payments are not received on time. If you want to pay the full remainder of your account immediately after registering your child or need assistance with your account, please contact Hannah Frank at hfrank@saccds.org.

Credits/Refunds A credit or refund will be issued only if your child's session is cancelled. All billing questions should be directed to Hannah Frank at hfrank@saccds.org.
