My Brothers and Sisters: Blessing to you, your families, and your churches.

This is now the third year in a row that we have not had an inperson camp meeting. Sister Winston and I miss you dearly; we miss the fellowship; we miss the meals in the cafeteria; we miss the preaching and the singing; we miss the seasons of prayer and the workshops; and, we miss the basketball finals and the energy that our youth and young people bring.

It seems like so long ago.

I am thankful that God has spared us to be able to celebrate camp meeting virtually again this year. Yes, many of our campers have closed their eyes in the sleep of death since we last walked the grounds of River Oaks and our hearts continue to grieve for them. We have the assurance that one day soon we will be reunited with them for “that great camp meeting in the promised land.” Even so, come Lord Jesus!

Thank you for joining us again this year as we focus on our theme, HOPE BEYOND THE HEADLINES. I know you’ll be blessed.

During her time at seminary, she served as a Student-Associate Pastor of the Highland Avenue Church in Benton Harbor, MI, as the president of the Women’s Clergy Network of Andrews University, and taught Religion and Health at Andrews Academy. During her time at Andrews University, she learned the science of evangelism while working with Pastors Carlton Byrd and Donnieval Walker during a Breath of Life Revival at the North Bronx Church in New York.

Pastor Whitley-Ferguson interned at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta-Scottish Rite Hospital in Atlanta, GA. She did a residency at Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga, TN, in 2019.

From 2015 – 2019, she served as the Associate Pastor for Family Ministries at the Collegedale Community Church in the Georgia Cumberland Conference.

Pastor Whitley-Ferguson loves to write. She has authored several published articles and two books. In 2005 she published her first book entitled The Sweetness of A Bitter Cup, and her second— Life After Divorce: Discover the Hope, a divorce recovery Bible study - in 2018. Her most recent published article is entitled - “Pastors at the Crossroads”, which is in the Winter 2021 issue of the Adventist Today magazine. She served on the 2018 Southern Union Women’s Conference’s discussion panel and presented a divorce recovery presentation at the Adventist Council on Family Research and Practice at Andrews University in 2019.

As a former clergy spouse, clergy spouses hold a special place in Pastor Whitley-Ferguson’s heart, and she is honored to support them in whatever ways she can.

S

tephanie Whitley-Ferguson was born to Jonas and the late Delores Whitley in Augusta, GA. She attended Ebenezer Jr. Academy of the Ebenezer Church in Augusta and graduated High School from Georgia Cumberland Academy in 1988.

She completed her Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene degree in 1992 from the Medical College of Georgia. She worked as a dental hygienist until 2011 when she finally answered God’s persistent call to ministry in her life. In that year she moved to Berrien Springs, MI, to attend Andrews University Adventist Theological Seminary where she earned her Master of Divinity degree in 2014.

Currently Pastor Whitley-Ferguson is serving as a chaplain at Cancer Treatment Centers of America. She is also pursuing her Doctor of Ministry in Women’s Leadership from Andrews University. She enjoys camping, skating, archery, and good laughs with family and friends. She’s the mother of two adult children and is married to Mr. Tony Ferguson, a retired Fire Captain with the City of South Fulton Fire Department in Atlanta, GA. Together Stephanie & Tony love football, music, exploring new places & things, being with family, quiet evenings at home…and pretty much whatever they can do together!



Ashley Jones Clergy Spouses’ Speaker |

Mrs. Jones was very active in the E. S. Portis Federation and camp meetings, and was a speaker under the “youth tent”. Among this group of young people would be her future husband, Kerwin Jones. While attending Oakwood, University Kerwin and Ashley tied the knot on December 16th, 2007. Their union has brought forth five beautiful children—Olivia, Audrey, Sophia, Stephen, and Lydia.

Her husband, Kerwin Jones, recently served as the senior pastor of the Shiloh Church in Little Rock, AK, and Public Affairs and Religious Liberty (PARL) Director for the Southwest Region Conference. While serving at Shiloh, Mrs. Jones worked alongside her husband in bringing souls to Christ by using her musical gifts to expand the music ministries department. Mrs. Jones also taught the members of the choir how to read music in conjunction with singing a variety of musical styles.

Mrs. Jones also started the non-profit, Reaching our Community Kids through Music (R.O.C.K.). She provided free piano and voice lessons to the children in the Little Rock community and gave scholarships to the youth participating in the program to attend Shiloh Excel Church School. The students were exposed to orchestra events, concerts, and art exhibits and played with the church band during divine worship.

A

shley Jones is a native of Atlanta, GA. At the age of ten, she was baptized and became a member of the Decatur Church. During her childhood and teen years, she was active in youth ministries and was known amongst her peers as someone who possessed a deep spirituality and unwavering love for God.

Mrs. Jones received her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Fayetteville State University in North Carolina. She later earned a Master of Science degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Armstrong State University in Savannah, GA. She is an ASHA-certified speech-language pathologist, who is licensed in five states. She is also the owner and founder of Jones Telepractice Agency, a medical staffing agency that hires a variety of professionals to provide specialized services to school districts and medical settings across the nation.

The Jones family desires to accomplish a mighty work for God and to prepare others for the soon return of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

As a young person, she spent much of her time coordinating programs and speaking at various churches around the South Atlantic Conference. She also served as a youth evangelist and was inducted into the Youth Leadership Program. In addition,

oger A. Bernard Jr. was born in Washington D.C. and raised in New Orleans, LA. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Theology with a minor in History from Oakwood University in Huntsville, AL. He also received his Master of Divinity degree from Andrews University in Berrien Springs, MI. His experience covers a range of areas that include teaching and mentoring, both youth and pastoral ministries. He has served as Assistant Youth Director, Assistant to the President, Director of Adult Ministries, Vice President for Administration, interim president, and now president of the Central States Conference of Seventh-day Adventists.

Pastor Bernard enjoys all sports, spending time with young people, and telling people about Jesus. He is married to his best friend, the former Ivona Roberts of New York, NY. They have three daughters, Bria, (18) Braelyn (10), and McKenzie (22), who are the joys of their lives.

Pastor Bernard’s favorite memory verse is Hebrew 11:30, “By faith the walls of Jericho fell down, after they were compassed about seven days.” Though it might be a strange favorite, it reminds him that God can reach any person, accomplish any goal, make a way out of no way, God can do anything!

Damian Grant Ordinand Biography |

Comments

This passion of sharing the gospel with all, helped to form the effective leader he has become. As a result of his strong leadership qualities, the members of Shiloh Adventist church in Smyrna, GA elected him to serve as local elder, wherein he was ordained in 2010. Shortly after, Damian was nominated to serve as their Head Elder from 2011 – 2014.

Later in life, Damian realized that God had a greater plan for him. Just like Abraham was called to leave his father’s house and journey to the land of the unknown, Damian was called in 2015 to journey in the wilderness of the unknown to Berrien Springs, MI. This came with great challenges, but with God’s leading and provision, Damian completed his course of studies and received a Masters of Divinity from Andrews University Seminary in 2018.

After completing his studies, Pastor Damian Grant and his family graciously accepted the call to join the South Atlantic Conference on June 1, 2018, under the leadership of President William L. Winston. This was a dream come true.

Pastor Grant now resides in Guyton, GA and is happily married to his college sweetheart the former Kerantha Edwards, and they both are blessed with two wonderful children, Nathan and Abigail. He and his family are now pastoring the First Garden City Church in Georgia and the First Ridgeland Adventist Church in South Carolina. The Lord has blessed their ministry over the years seeing many precious souls, including their children, surrendering their lives to Christ.

Pastor Grant enjoys spending time with his family and building spiritual relationships with his church members. He is known as the pastor who loves and cares for his parishioners and the community at large.

D

amian Grant is a native of the island of Jamaica, born to proud parents Norman and Judy Grant on the 28th of October 1979. He is the older of two children. His educational journey has taken him on the pathway of achieving a Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering in 2004 from the University of Technology, Jamaica.

Pastor Grant’s philosophy in life is: “The life I live, if not lived for Christ, is not a life worth living.” As such, Pastor Grant is intentional in disciple making; hence it is his desire to embody Christ’s life, and allow the Holy Spirit to use him with the Godgiven gifts and talents in empowering humanity to have a personal relationship with their Creator.

Damian Grant has always been active in church leadership, and at an early age he was selected to serve in various offices such as: Adventist Youth Ministry Leader, Sabbath School Superintendent, and Personal Ministries Director.

His favorite scripture is Matthew 23:12, “And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased; and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted.”

John Newlove Ordinand Biography |

Conference as the Administrative Assistant to Youth and Young Adults Ministry and Health Ministries. The two are proud parents of John and Catalina Newlove.

For over twenty-five years, Pastor Newlove has served in various positions of leadership in the Seventh-Day Adventist Church as Pastor, Evangelist, and Revivalist. He currently leads five congregations as senior pastor: Marietta-Central Hispanic Church, Chamblee Hispanic Church, Doraville Hispanic Church, Roswell Hispanic Church, and Lawrenceville Hispanic Church.

Beyond the pulpit, Pastor Newlove has actively been part of organizations that have sought to relieve many of the social ills that have impacted the community. His ministry includes using his God-given skills to positively redirect and impact the lives of at-risk teens and gang members. He has baptized many along the way. He serves as the Hispanic Youth Ministry Coordinator as he mentors and guides the youth. He is also actively involved in Clubs Ministries with leadership trainings, investitures, campouts, club programs, and outings.

Pastor Newlove, together with local church leaders, has founded the first Hispanic SDA radio station in the South Atlantic Conference. Rejoice Radio is operating 24 hours per day with a variety of music, sermons, round table, interviews, youth and children’s programing.

J

ohn Zacarias Newlove Robinson was born in Colon, Panama and reared in San Andres Island, Colombia, he is the third child of Catalina and John Newlove. He attended UNAC Adventist University in Colombia, South America.

Pastor Newlove shares his life with his wife, Maria Ivette Newlove, the first daughter of Pedro and Erenia Rivera. Maria was born in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico and spent her childhood in Panama. Maria is currently serving the Southern Union

Pastor Newlove has received awards and recognitions from churches and community organizations. He is in constant demand as a preacher, mentor, motivational speaker, and evangelist around the world. His other passions include, puppets ministry, prison ministries, music, drama, and freediving. He uses his skills as a certified lifeguard instructor, as well as CPR and first aid instructor to equip youth with the skills and knowledge that would assist them in obtaining their first employment while sharing the word of God with them.

The words of Genesis 1:1 have marked his life: “In the beginning… GOD”.



Pastor Petit-Homme migrated to the United States in 1995.

Despite of his reluctancy to fully embrace ministry, he has always been active in the church where he has occupied various positions, such as first and ordained elder, head of several ministries, chair of the finance committee, and purchasing church property.

On July 10, 2001, Pastor Petit-Homme married his best friend, the former Carolle Olivier. From this union were born two sons, Carl, and Berny. Carolle is a registered nurse and works alongside her husband to further God’s kingdom on earth.

After resisting God’s calling for full-time ministry for over 20 years, Pastor Petit-Homme sold his Multi Services business in Tampa, FL, and submitted himself to Jesus in going to Andrews University where he earned a Master’s in Divinity, and then a Doctorate in Practical Theology (D. Min) with emphasis on Church Growth.

In June 2018, Pastor Petit-Homme received a call from the South Atlantic Conference to pastor Salem-Ephese-Mitspa (SEM) district where he is still ministering. Led by the Holy Spirit, three main pillars have been part of his ministerial success: Prayer, Word Study, and Mission. One of the main goals of the pastor is to see every believer remain in church, become a disciple and a disciple-maker until Jesus comes back.

P

astor Benoit Petit-Homme was born and raised in Haiti.

He is the youngest of a family of five brothers. At an early age, he felt God’s calling for ministry.

However, instead of enrolling at the Haitian Adventist University to study theology after high school, he registered in law school concentrating in economic science and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in economics. He later earned a B.S. in Accounting with specificity in managerial accounting. He worked as an economist, accountant, and professor in the public and private sectors in his home country for about ten years.

Through his leadership and the guidance of the Holy Spirit, the Lord has tremendously blessed the three churches.

Evangelism and discipleship have been in the forefront of the district. Countless lives have been transformed. Over three dozen souls have given their lives to God through baptism.

The finances (tithes) of the churches have more than doubled.

One problematic property has been sold. One of his greatest achievements is the establishment of a broadcasting system to evangelize inside and outside the box during the pandemic.

One of Pastor Petit-Homme’s favorite scriptural texts is Isaiah 41:10 —“Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand”.

Pastor Petit-Homme’s main purpose in life is to faithfully serve God and lovingly help His people to be ready for Christ’s return.

Michael A. Shelton Ordinand Biography |

Comments

Michael is a graduate of Oakwood University, class of 2015, located in Huntsville, AL. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Ministerial Theology with a minor in Business Management.

While attending Oakwood he served as the Religion and Theology Forum President and the Chaplain of the Graduating Class of 2015. He also sang in the Aeolians of Oakwood University and served as their choir chaplain.

In August of 2015, Michael received a call to join the South Atlantic Conference. Subsequently, this provided a sponsorship through the Seventh-day Adventist Theological Seminary. In December 2017 Michael completed the requirements for his Master of Divinity degree from Andrews University in Berrien Springs, MI. While there, he served as co-director of the Experience Team (Worship Planning Ministry Team) at New Life Fellowship Adventist Church.

At a young age Michael felt the call from God to be a minister of the Gospel. He is very passionate about serving young people.

He received “The Caring Heart Award” from the North American Division Education Department and “The Community All-Star Award” from the BAYDA (Black Adventist Youth Directors Association) Youth Congress Committee. Michael also became a Master Guide and has earned the Pathfinder Instructor’s Award.

Pastor Michael Shelton is married to the former Brianna Smith who is from Cayo, Belize. They are blessed to be the parents of one child, Michael Jr. who is two years old.

M

ichael Andrew Shelton was born on June 19, 1992, in Berrien Center, MI, to Pastor Ralph E. and Michelle R. Shelton. He is the second of three children. Although the Shelton family has lived in many places within the Lake Region Conference, Michael considers Detroit, MI to be his home.

Michael came to know and accept Jesus Christ as his personal Savior at the age of eight years old through Lake Region’s “Camp Wagner” summer camp ministry. It was there, at camp, that Michael discovered “the friend that sticks closer than a brother.”

Michael is a product of Adventist Education. He attended Peterson-Warren Academy (grades 1 – 8) and Hinsdale Adventist Academy (11 & 12), graduating in 2010. While in Chicago he served as the Chaplain and Pathfinder Drum Corp Area Coordinator for the Chicagoland Youth Federation.

Pastor Shelton previously served as the Associate Pastor for Worship for both Youth and Young Adult Ministry at the Decatur Seventh-day Adventist Church in Decatur, GA. He has also served as Pastor of the Trinity Adventist Church in LaGrange, GA and Gospel Truth Mission Adventist Church in Jackson, GA. He is currently serving as Pastor of the Mount Sinai and Smithfield First Seventh-day Adventist Churches in Sanford and Smithfield, NC. Presently, Pastor Shelton is also pursuing a Doctor of Ministry degree with a concentration in preaching from Andrews University.

Michael’s favorite Bible passage is 1 Corinthians 2:9, “But as it is written: Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him.” This profound passage of scripture reminds him daily that God has a plan, and he’s in it!

lder Moses Edwards, Sr. was born in Gadsden, AL and was raised in New Rochelle, NY. He completed Oakwood College in 1983 and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theology and Social Work. He continued his studies at Andrews University where he received a Masters of Divinity in 1985.

After receiving a call from the South Atlantic Conference, God used Pastor Edwards to enrich the lives of many through Bible studies and baptisms. He served God and the constituents of this conference in the following districts: Summerville, SC, St. Stephen, SC, Asheville, NC, Greenville, NC, Hickory, NC, Kinston, NC, Shelby, NC, Winston-Salem, NC, Lithonia, GA and Smyrna, GA. Elder Edwards currently serves as Director for Stewardship, Religious Liberty and Prayer Ministries at the South Atlantic Conference. He is also a member of the South Atlantic Conference Executive Committee.

He is married to the former Marlene Barthley of Panama.

Together they have four children and seven grandchildren.

They have been happily married for 48 years.

Elder Edwards loves the Lord. He has a passion for teaching people about the power of God and their ability to walk in His favor.

awrence Hamilton has given over 47 dedicated years of service to the Seventh-day Adventist Church. He pastored in the South Central Conference for 10 years in the conference territories of Alabama, Florida, Tennessee, and Kentucky.

He then transferred to the Central California Conference where he served for seven year as a pastor, and Coordinator of Regional Affairs, as well as Assistant to the President.

Leaving California, he came to the South Atlantic Conference where he served for 30 years. There he served as a pastor, Ministerial Secretary, Evangelism Coordinator, Stewardship Director, Planning Giving and Trust Services Director, Adventist Laymen’s Services & Industries (ASI) Director, Human Resources Director, General Manager of the South Atlantic Conference campground in Orangeburg, SC, and General Vice President.

He is married to Brenda J. King-Hamilton. They have been married for 52 years. They have three children: Eric, Traci, and Shery and 10 grandchildren.

As he transitions to other ministries, he shares these words, “Learn from the past, live in the present, and plan well for the future with the decisions you make today.”

Pastor Mason worked, for eight years, in the Southeastern Conference and served as the treasurer of the South Atlantic Conference for nine years.

Pastor Mason was ordained to the Adventist gospel ministry in June, 2004 at the South Atlantic Conference Camp Meeting.

He then transitioned into pastoral ministry serving as the assistant pastor of West End Church in Atlanta, GA. He has pastored the following churches in South Atlantic: Emmanuel, Greenville, GA; Berea, Sumter, SC; Maranatha, Manning, SC; Ephesus, New Bern, NC; Calvary, Jacksonville, NC; Abney Chapel, Fayetteville, NC; New Covenant, Savannah, GA and First Hinesville, GA. He has also worked with the following schools: Berea Junior Academy, Sumter, SC, Greater Fayetteville Adventist Academy, Fayetteville, NC, and Ramah Junior Academy, Savannah, GA. In addition to his pastoral responsibilities, he has also served as president of the North Carolina Ministerial Association and treasurer of both the North and South Carolina Ministerial Associations.

Pastor Mason will conclude 41 years of Adventist employment, in December, 2022, when he retires from full-time pastoral ministry. He and Ann look forward to serving our Lord in different capacities at that time.

ugene M. Mason, Jr., born in Newark, NJ, attended Adventist Christian schools from first grade through college. He is a graduate of Pine Forge Academy, in Pennsylvania and Oakwood College, in Huntsville, AL.

His wife, Ann Mason, was born in Costa Rica, Central America.

She also attended Adventist Christian schools in New York, Costa Rica and Mexico. She is a Nurse Practitioner. They were married on May 20, 1984.

Stephen P. Ruff Retiree Biography |

Degree in theology and a minor in History. He is also a graduate of Amberton University in Garland, TX with a Master of Business Administration Degree in Marketing, Management and Finance.

Pastor Ruff has served in various capacities for the Seventh-day Adventist Church for more than 43 years. His ministry has taken him extensively throughout the United States and to many parts of the world. He has served as a Literature Evangelist, Publishing Director, Stewardship, Trust & Religious Liberty Director, Adventist Book Center Manager and pastor for the South Central Conference. He has also served as the Publishing Director for the Southwest Region Conference, Editor for Message Magazine and the Regional Voice, as well as Executive Secretary and pastor in the South Atlantic Conference.

Pastor Ruff is married to the former Diane Smith of Hazelhurst, MS, for more than 41 years. She served as the an educator in various conferences and the Associate Director of Education for the Southern Union Conference in Norcross, GA. To their union God has blessed them with one wonderful son, Stephen P. Ruff, II, a gifted speaker, singer and Bible Counselor.

tephen P. Ruff is the last of seven children born to the late, Titus William & Dorothy Ruff of Fresno, CA. He is the product of Seventh-day Adventist Christian education.

He graduated from Oakwood College with a Bachelor of Arts

Linwood C. Stone Retiree Biography |

Adventists (Chicago, IL) from June, 1978 through September, 1997. While serving in that field, he was a member of the Emmanuel Church in Chicago Heights, IL and later served as the pastor of the Ephesus Church in Hopkins Park, IL for two years.

He was ordained to the gospel ministry in June, 1996. Through all the challenging and tumultuous times in that territory, God used him to be a blessing to others.

He was called to the South Atlantic Conference where he served as treasurer from September, 1997 to May, 2006. It was his privilege to be part of the conference administration that saw the construction of the River Oaks Praise and Worship Center, the Youth Pavilion and other church buildings and acquisitions during these years.

L

inwood C. Stone was born in Dadeville, AL and raised in Westbury, NY. His path to finding God was through Vacation Bible School, an untimely apartment fire and the kindness of the compassionate members of the Bethany Seventh-day Adventist Church. This connection led to his baptism into the church as a teenager.

He graduated from Westbury High School and journeyed to Huntsville, AL. There he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with minors in Theology and Accounting from Oakwood College. Afterwards he received a Master of Business Administration degree from Governors State University in Illinois.

Pastor Stone has been with the Seventh-day Adventist denominational workforce since graduating from Oakwood.

His employment experience includes working in the capacities of auditor, office accountant, assistant treasurer, treasurer and pastor with the Lake Region Conference of Seventh-day

He was called to serve as the associate pastor of the Berean Church in Atlanta, GA from September, 2006 through April, 2011. The next assignment for him was serving as the pastor of the New Hope Church in Ellenwood, GA from May, 2011 until April, 2017. He has been the pastor of the Tri-City Church in McDonough, GA and the Dickerson Memorial Chapel in Griffin, GA since April, 2017.

Pastor Stone has been married to Dr. Jennifer (Mosley) Stone, a dentist, for 42 years. While living in Illinois, they were foster parents to several children. The three (3) adult children they raised are Mrs. Jailyn (Matthew) Nicholson, Tyler, and Cicily.

They have four (4) amazing grandchildren to keep them focused; Josilyn, Stone, Aniya and Madison.

Pastor Linwood Stone is a friend of men and a servant of God who concurs with the statement of the Apostle Paul, “And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who hath enabled me, for that he counted me faithful, putting me in to the ministry.” 1 Tim 1:12 It has been a pleasure working in the army of the Lord.
