WEEK 9 READING: PERSPECTIVE AS SYMBOLIC FORM

Question 1: What are Durer’s rules for perspectival projection? (Maximum 100 words) Durer describes perspective is “seeing through“. ’s rules for perspectival projection, is a view of space not when mere isolate object and are represented in foreshortening. Moreover, all paralles have the same vanishing point excluding their variation in position, the distance between the vanishing point adn the central vanishing point equals to the distance between eye and picture plane.

Question 2: Describe homogenous space? (Maximum 100 words)

Homogenous space is a definite and rational place. It transforms psychophysiological space into mathemtical space. All its elements are mere determinations of postion, possessing no independent content of their own outside of this relation., this postion which they occupy in relation to each other. Hence, Homogenous space is never given space, but space produced by construction.

Two levels of isometric view with symbols which showing Marco Polo’s journey through City of Eusapia.

QUAD PERSPECTIVE 1 + 2 This perspective is the upper level of Eusapia where the living live here, look through the city, also it has s spare space for me to put in characters.

Underground palace where the dead lives. This scene includes stair which the new dead can walk down from the upper level to ungerground. This perspective is more narrow and closer to the city.

6

PERSPECTIVE SCENE 1 + 2

I choose this perspective where is the entrance of upper city. Marco Polo walks upstair so that he can see through the Quad. In this perspective, a man died in the middle, and a group of women chatting on the left hand side, adn a upset woman on the right hand side. These three group of characters indicate three types of life style. At the end of story, it is hard to distinguish the living city and lower city, so I use bright fog and dark fog which the bright fog stand for living and dark fog stand for the dead in both perspectives to give a sense of mixing.

The second perspective where is underground palace, that gives audiences a sense of depression. The dominators of underground are hooded brother stand in the middle and shows their power. The dead maintain their life when they were alive or have a more joyful life in the underground. In order to compare with the upper city, I choose a darker tone without light.

WEEK 10 READING: TECHNIQUE AND REPRESENTATION

Question 1: What is the difference between autographic and allographic practice? (Maximum 100 words) The different between autographic and allographic is that, allographic arts operate through interpretation and on the basis of convention.Allographic depends on notational practices as a consequence of the ephemerality of the work itself like music or poetry. The autographic includes painting and sculptures which has direct contact with author.

Question 2: Why do architects need new representational techniques? (Maximum 100 words) The reason architects need new representational techniques is that they need to make their design more complex that new techniques can help them t show more on their work and transfer their ideas to audiences. Architects need to adopt their abilities in to a burgeoning enviroment.
