TOGETHER, WE’RE A GENIUS A conversation with living legends. In 1995, Reggio education didn’t exist yet in Virginia. Sabot School, as our preschoolonly school was named at the time, was instrumental in bringing this educational approach to young children in central Virginia. What’s transpired over the past 25 years? We gathered three of our renowned educators and pedagogists who led Sabot with passion and ingenuity for a combined 75 years to share their stories. Marty Gravett, Director of Early Childhood, and Sara Ferguson, Preschool TeacherResearcher, are retiring this year, leaving Sabot with a strong Reggio foundation and a promising future of innovative education. Our former head of school, Irene Carney, leads the following conversation with Marty and Sara about building the Sabot we know today. This conversation has been edited for clarity and length.
