ABOUT THE CONCERT #supportMYtalents This theme speaks for the love and appreciation towards local talent, Malaysia talent. The idea originated from SAB A Cappella where we felt the need of appreciation for locally produced music, dance pieces, short films, concerts, performances, art pieces, as well as goods and food. Therefore, when SAB decided to launch #1801SPACE, we all agreed to put this concept and thoughts into realization. This is what the space is all about- an avenue for local bands and talents to be seen. Our first move for this campaign is #supportMYtalents House Concert in conjunction with #1801SPACE grand opening. We intentionally chose month of August for this event as it resembles a significant milestone for us, as a Malaysian musician to own a space and to do our part in supporting the growth of Malaysia talents As much as we wanted to include different elements into 2 hours, finally we resided to original music for our first #supportMYtalents concert. We are so glad to be able to feature artists from different music backgrounds in this concerts, bringing more flavors and spices to the whole event.
The journey of a thousand miles begins with one step No matter how small the contribution, we must first work on what we truly believe in and do our part in supporting each other in this community. 「 We don’t grow big overnight, and just like every other musicians, it always starts small” 」
ABOUT SAB A CAPPELLA
SAB A cappella, is a fully home grown A Cappella focused vocal group consisting young professionals all over Malaysia. Not new to many, SAB is one of the active Aca groups in Malaysia that has recently made its appearances in Malaysian Artist-Orange's concert, I Can See Your Voice TV program, media interviews on BFM, AIFM, FM988, cityplus, performed in various arts and music festivals, recorded advertisement and corporate songs and often seen in various corporate events. They've participated in Asia Pac A Cappella Championship League, won Malaysia’s 1st A Cappella championship in Malacca’s Chamber Choir Competition, Kuala Lumpur’s Pop & Jazz EXPO Music Competition Champion and runner up in “I want to sing Michael Wong’s song competition”, and was invited to perform at Macau's 2017 vocal festival in it's UNESCO heritage theatre.
ABOUT #1801SPACE #1801SPACE provides a platform for independent musicians & artists to showcase their art for the public. #1801SPACE started its operations in year 2018. Strategically located in the heart of PJ City, easily accessible by local transport. The space is a spacious 1,200sq.ft surrounded by handcrafted decorations made from recycled materials. The concept of this space is to break away from the established norm, and to retain the raw elements of the space in reflecting its truest form, where possibilities of something are created from nothing. ALEX TEE A magician who fuses his magic with a mix of danger, suspense and sleight of hand. His compelling and dynamic style of performing will keep audiences at the edge of their seats yet mesmerising and captivating. He has been performing magic both in Malaysia and overseas such as Japan, Vietnam, Thailand and Maldives. Currently, he is the resident magician of Asia's biggest club, Zouk KL.
FEATURED ARTISTS PROFILE FROYA Froya’s quirky charm and distinctive vocal has remained a constant, while her music has continued to evolve since her earliest indie pop endeavours into a more experimental, yet readily accessible, groovedriven synth electronica. Having enjoyed significant rotation on radio – both locally and internationally - she has also performed at festivals such as Laneway Singapore 2017, Good Vibes 2014 & 2016, Urbanscapes and Singapore’s BayBeats and Music Matters Live. Along the away she has shared the stage with the likes of Ellie Goulding, Banks, Disclosure and more recently, Aurora, Nick Murphy (Chet Faker), Glass Animals, Nao. Her latest single, “Dark Chocolate” 2017, succeeds her acclaimed Panic Bird album, which was sponsored and featured by Guiness Amplify Malaysia, and later won the title of Best Engineered Album at Malaysia's Award - AIM22.
FEATURED ARTISTS PROFILE AINA ABDUL Aina Abdul is no stranger to the Malaysian music scene. Aina came into the limelight after becoming the first runner-up of national prime reality television singing competition 'Mentor Legend' under the apprenticeship of Malaysia’s Queen of Rock, Ella in 2015. She later surprised Malaysia and the world as she rose to win the Senior Grand Vocalist Champion’s title in the World Championships of Performing Arts (WCOPA) held in Hollywood, Los Angeles. She's also the recognizable singer in Nescafe Malaysia's World Coffee Day advert in 2017 and the singer behind the 'Ribut Hati' OST for the local blockbuster film 'Tombiruo: Penunggu Rimba' in the same year. Aina Abdul has also been a featured artist for numerous music festivals including Publika Jazz Festival 2016 & 2017, World Youth Jazz Festival in Kuala Lumpur, Brooklyn Day Out and many more. Not only that, Aina has actively been writing, composing and recently releasing her own material which she performs publicly at some of KL’s best live music venues. Modern R&B and soul are her favourite genre of music.

DICKSON CHAI Dickson Chai, who is a full-time worker, singer songwriter, theater director cums script writer cums actor, is exactly a "Workaholic". Dickson Graduated from Bachelor Degree of Performing Arts from University Malaya, and is currently a Marketing Manager for a well known ice cream brand in Malaysia. As a theater person he was being nominated "The Best Original Script" in the 12th Asli Drama Award, and won "The Best Original Music" in same award ceremony. Dickson's composition works can be found in local radio station's yearly Chinese New Year songs and numbers of local chinese theaters' theme songs. In 2015, Dickson released his 1st fully compose music album《Workaholic》, singing out loud all kind of workers' life through his compositions.
