Dear Sir/Madam, The CarboWet Foundation and Friends of the Earth Middle East would like to invite you, or one of your colleagues to the signing ceremony for the first Jordanian carbon offsetting and wetland protection mechanism. FoEME and the CarboWet Foundation will sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to offer carbon offsetting in the Sharhabil bin Hassneh Eco Park in the Jordan Valley. The CW/FoEME Carbon Offsetting Mechanism (CW/FoEME. COM) is available for public and private organizations from all countries. The first company to support these efforts to offset carbon emissions will be the Dutch company SaafConsult B.V. These funds will be used for afforestation and reforestation as well as broader watershed protection. The event will be held at the Sharhabil bin Hassneh Eco Park in the Jordan Valley on Saturday 23 March 2013. The event will also include a tour through the park and lunch. CarboWet Foundation The CarboWet Foundation seeks to prove that wetlands store significant amounts of greenhouse gases, so that the conservation and rehabilitation of wetlands will increase storage of these gases and benefit nature. The main interest of CarboWet is the ecosystem valuation function of certified carbon trading. We strongly believe that by providing an economic valuation for wetlands the value of these wetlands will increase. This in turn will lead to preservation.

Meetings with certifiers to determine the exact certification requirements; 4. Synthesis of research and requirements into a preliminary methodology to be reviewed for certification; 5. Discussions with the Voluntary Carbon Standard for trading.
