Overview The building sector is growing in almost every Nordic country and has been doing so for the past five years.

Industry experts mention an average increase in the region of 3.5 % for 2016.

Profit margins in the industry in the Nordics in general lie on double the level of the European average of 2-3%.

Despite good local suppliers and know-how, the booming industry needs competences in sustainable construction and building.

Learn about the construction markets in the Nordic Countries, meet branch experts and make contacts around the Nordbygg Trade Fair 6th – 8th April.

THE GROWING TREND IN THE BUILDING SECTOR IN THE NORDIC REGION IS CONTINUING IN 2016.

The region has big construction projects whether this is in roads, rail or buildings. This results in a steadily growing demand for construction elements and knowhow.

Stockholm e.g. has the highest population growth rate in Europe at the moment.

Therefore, the plan is to build 140,000 new homes by 2030. The construction sector in the region grew by 15 percent since 2014.

Denmark has various public projects coming up in the coming years. Public investments go primarily into roads, bridges, railways and hospitals. A special focus is also made on the renovation and modernization of housing programs from the 1970’s. The total investments will exceed 60 bn. Euro in 2023.

New projects as well as renovation projects are in the planning or coming up in Norway and Finland; new hospitals are being planned in Bodø, Tromsø, Stavanger, Drammen (Norway) and new housing districts are being built within Helsinki, Finland.

In the whole Nordic region a special focus is given to sustainable buildings.

There is a need for innovative solutions and technologies.

The region’s most important trade fair in the construction industry “Nordbygg” (http://nordbygg.se) is putting the architecture of Switzerland in focus with Swiss Architects giving presentations at the trade fair and School of Architecture.

To make use of this “window of attention for Switzerland” and to gain an overview about the opportunities in the building industry, Switzerland Global Enterprise (S-GE) together with the Swiss Embassy in Sweden is organizing a Fact Finding Trip for Swiss companies.

As a participant, you will gain an insight into the construction industry of Sweden and the other Nordic countries, have the opportunity to meet and network among the exhibitors at the trade fair and meet people and experts from the industry at specially arranged network events.
