Women’s month often turns out to be a day of small gestures of thanksgiving and a light-hearted ‘happy womens ’ day posts But in actual fact, Women’s day is a very serious day which commemorates the women ’ s rights movement in South Africa Today we enjoy many freedoms that were fought for Today, the women ’ s human rights movement is still in progress, fighting for equal pay, for gender-based violence and social security in all spaces
We need to prioritise raising all children with equal rights, safety and promotion The month of August is also a tribute to the women in our lives that we are grateful for They teach us how to be excellent at our professions and in all institutions we are in (church, stokvels, corporate etc.) and be nurturers and lovers in our families
