As an experienced designer, I am responsible for all the designs with a Rymax logo on it. Together with the rest of the marketing team, we have carefully built the Rymax brand to where it is today. My goal is to see every Rymax design created in the world and check if it is meeting the high-quality standards that we set to our stylish, passionate, and personal brand. WELCOME TO THE RYMAX LUBRICANTS BRANDING GUIDELINES DOCUMENT.

As our company charges forward – entering new markets, reaching new heights with new customers, expanding globally – it is essential that the Rymax brand grows with it. We want to make sure that the brand captures new audiences while keeping existing customers loyal and happy.

This document serves as the central platform for defining the standards and guidelines for the Rymax brand identity. We encourage you to read through this document and learn about the brand identity of Rymax Lubricants. These guidelines will help you implement our brand and reflect how we continue to evolve and grow.

PURPOSE

The purpose of this Brand Manual is to help you communicate and implement the Rymax Lubricants brand. By communicating one consistent Rymax identity, the brand will be globally recognizable and it will accurately symbolise the benefits of this great organization we are all proud to be part of. The colour, the content, the personality and the symbol of our organisation communicates who we are and what we stand for.

WHAT IS A BRAND?

A brand is more than a logo, it is an identity. This identity is an emotional connection that customers have with a company, its products and services. It is a distinct feeling. A brand articulates and differentiates itself by stating what makes the company, its product(s) or services unique. It is really about who we are and why we matter.

LEVERAGING

Rymax distributors and official dealers are an integral part of the Rymax brand and operate under the same umbrella. Just as franchisers would not change or alter the logo of the parent company they operate under, neither should Rymax distributors. The best way to represent the brand is to keep it consistent in its look, feel and messaging. This way you leverage the strength of our global brand to your local needs.

COLOUR PALETTE

The corporate colour palette leverages Rymax equity, furthers the brand identity of the company/products and establishes consistency in the reproduction of the logo. The colour palette contains Rymax orange, a distinctive colour within the industry. Black acts as a neutral, secondary colour and is used in conjunction with Rymax orange in the logos and for typography. Red acts only as an accent colour in the Rymax logo.

MAIN RYMAX LUBRICANTS LOGO

FULL COLOUR LOGO

Consistent and appropriate use of our logo helps the brand build its identity and reach its greatest potential in the market. When possible use our logo full colour. The colours should never be changed or altered.

LOGO CLEAR SPACE

The logo should always stand out and be placed as clear as possible without any distractions from other elements. The 0.5X space represents the minimum distance between the logo and any other design element or text.

MINIMUM LOGO DISPLAY

Please adhere to minimum logo size guidelines as noted. The maximum logo size within communication materials is flexible and should be as per the intent of the communication piece.

XS LOGO

An exception on the minimum logo display is made in case the logo needs to be printed on small items or with special printing techniques. Only then displayed on the right may be used. In this version the word “lubricants” is slightly increased. Note: It is not allowed to rescale any elements of the logo yourself.

MONOTONE LOGO

When a full colour logo is impractical or not economical, print the logo in either black or orange. Apply the logo in black in newspapers, fax cover sheets and other business documents that do not allow for colour display. On dark-coloured backgrounds and images, always set the logo in white to ensure optimal legibility and contrast.

To emphasize on Rymax’ Dutch origin and the roots that we are proud of, we have developed a graphical element that can be found on all our product packaging. The Rymax Macaron can also be used in a flexible way for marketing and branding means. Please consult with Rymax HQ for advice or help.

LOGO MISUSE

It is important to always follow the guidelines in this document on how to correctly use and apply the Rymax logo and branding elements. Here you’ll find some examples of wrong use of these elements. If you have doubt, please consult with Rymax HQ for advice or help.

The Akzidenz-Grotesk (Condensed & Regular) typeface is used as primary typeface for all body copy and is available in a variety of weights. Two leading weights are listed below.

The Rymax typeface is Nokian. This typeface is used in the Rymax logo and is used for big headers in the Rymax brand identity.

PHOTOGRAPHY

Photography is a key visual element we can use to support messages to our audiences. Whether photography appears as full or cropped in application, it should be purposeful and clearly support our design philosophy and message.

INSPIRATIONAL PHOTOGRAPHY

Inspirational photography are photos that might inspire someone. Because they tell a story or show an extraordinary event, or because they are simply beautiful. They do not necessarily have to show Rymax products, but they do always have to show Rymax branding. A rule of thumb is that your inspirational photography shows a premium, professional and stylish brand that appeals to people with a passion for engines: petrolheads.

PRODUCT PHOTOGRAPHY

Product photography always highlights the Rymax products in the best way. This can be in a studio, at an event or at a place where the products are used and sold like a store or workshop. The goal is to showcase our beautiful product packaging and wide variety of products. The Rymax style for these photo is always a bit rough: you will not find our products in very clean or tidy environments. You will find the Rymax products where and how they are actually used: with tools, stains, cloths and dirt in the background. But always with a beautiful and full focus on the product itself.

Never separate a Rymax packaging from its background by cutting it out in Photoshop. If you need the products on a white background then always use the available packshots (see page 23).

FILM & VIDEO

Films and videos are a very important part of the Rymax brand identity. On the Rymax Youtube Channel you can find all our videos. Because of the big visual impact that videos have, we encourage you to also engage in the creation of this. You can use or include existing film material from Rymax HQ in your local material. Please consult with Rymax HQ for advice or help. We believe that when you create a video, it is important to tell a story. We can help you with creating a good script or storyboard for your local video production.

Our preferred stationery has been selected to add a tactile dimension to our brand’s communication mix.

For the printing of brochures, magazines or similar printed material the next instructions should be followed. The cover (outside) should be printed on; hvmc silk 300 gr/m 2 . The inside should be printed on; hvmc silk 130 gr/m 2 .

SOCIAL MEDIA FACEBOOK

At Rymax, we believe in the power of consistency. It’s the key to building a strong bond with our online community. We would like a Facebook world where our pages share the same look—visual consistency that helps you easily recognize the real Rymax from the rest. Think of the Rymax Facebook profile as our brand’s digital business card, with the official Rymax logo alongside the distributor’s country name. You can easily access and download Rymax Facebook profile images from the Rymax Brand Centre, ensuring a cohesive and recognizable brand presence.

Image Guidelines

Must be at least 180 x 180 pixels.

Photo will appear on the page as 160 x 160 pixels. Photo thumbnail will appear throughout Facebook at 32 x 32 pixels.

Cover photo: 850 x 315 pixels.

Anything less will be stretched.

Minimum size of 399 x 150 pixels.

Smartphones display as 640 x 360. For best results, upload an RGB JPG file less than 100 KB.

Our cover photos serve as a reflection of the Rymax brand, positioning us as a professional oil brand. Several high-quality cov er photos are readily available for download on the Rymax Brand Centre.
