Floor Plan 4

This Accessory Dwelling Unit is designed for Habitat for Humanity. It is a modular prefabricated building that is in people’s backyards to rent out in order to make their properties more affordable. HFH wanted to focus on stormwater management because this is a problem in Denver. I created a single pitched roof system to drain all the rain water to one corner of the ADU. The water then drains into a gravel water catchment, then flows through a pipe into a series of bioswale planter that will absorb the rain water as well as water the native grassy plants.

Site Plan

The modular 12’x12’ floor plan can fit on a large truck and is designed to be mass produced and rearranged in order to be affordable for low income homeowners in Denver. There is a living room module, a kitchen module, and a bedroom/bathroom module that are able to be switched around depending on the site and clients. This is a very simple and sustainable design. The stormwater management system is also modular and designed to be mass produced. It is also designed to keep almost all of the rainwater on the site using the gutter system I designed.
