Whittlebury Park launches festive afternoon tea Whittlebury Park luxury countryside hotel and spa in rural Northamptonshire has created a limited-edition festive afternoon tea to enjoy in the hotel from 29th November – 29th December 2021, the perfect treat to share with loved ones over the holiday period.

Priced at £24.50 per person and available to book online, the festive afternoon tea includes a variety of sweet and savoury yuletide treats. There are turkey, cranberry and stuffing finger sandwiches, quiche Lorraine, a classic prawn cocktail and delicious smoked salmon, black pepper, cream cheese and cucumber bagels.

The seasonal sweet treats include a coconut and white chocolate snowball, a Black Forest yule log, mince pie and custard crumble tart, cheerful reindeer macarons and chocolate Brussel sprouts.

From jingle to mingle: Getting the most out of music this Christmas It’s safe to say that last year’s Christmas left a lot of us with a resting Grinch face.

However, this year, with call for greater optimism, the ghosts of Christmas past will hopefully not be returning. New independent research reveals UK employees’ washroom concern and how to resolve them New independent research has found that the majority of employees have concerns about using a workplace washroom and has revealed the washroom improvements that they would like their employers to make.

The YouGov, UK employee research, commissioned by national washroom service provider, Elis, found that 47% of employees are concerned that the toilets will be dirty, 45% that there will be insufficient toilet paper, 45% that the washroom itself will be unhygienic or dirty and 44% that the washroom will smell unpleasant. Also of concern are that there will be insufficient soap (30% of employees), insufficient airflow to disperse

germs and smells (28%) unpleasant or overflowing sanitary bins (25%) equipment that they will have to touch, as there will not be ‘no-touch’ options (21%) and insufficient hand drying facilities (18%).

Only 25% of employees have no concerns about using a workplace washroom, with the under 35s more likely than any other age group to have concerns. Only 11% of this age category have no concerns about using a workplace washroom, compared to 25% of 35-44 year olds, 28% of 45-54 year olds and 34% of over 55s.

The research also revealed the improvements that employees would like made to their workplace washroom,

with the introduction of no-touch soap dispensers being the change wanted by the highest number of respondents (29%). The research also found that notouch equipment is important to 60% of employees.

The upgrade wanted by the second highest number of employees (21%) is to have better fragrance in the washroom. The research also found that 53% of employees thought that a pleasant smell, such as a fruity or floral smell, would make them think a washroom was clean and well looked after, compared to 38% who thought a neutral smell would do the same.

Other improvements that employees would like include having hand sanitiser in the washroom and just outside the washroom (18% of employees), having toilet sanitiser, so they can wipe the toilet seat before using it (18%) and having better hand drying facilities (16%).

15% of employees think their workplace washroom should be upgraded to try to reduce the spread of Covid and only 30% say there are no improvements they would like to be made, with women less likely than men to be satisfied with their workplace washroom (only 27% of women said there are no improvements needed, compared to 34% of men). Under 35s are the most dissatisfied, with only 20% saying there are no improvements required.

Nick Barton, regional director of UK-wide washroom service provider, Elis said: “This independent research provides valuable insights into the views of employees across the country, including how their views differ by age, gender and where they work. Elis works with employers, helping them to provide hygienic and well stocked washrooms and we hope this research will also help to build understanding of their employees’ views and expectations of the workplace washroom.”

Bluewater declares single use plastic bottles ‘Public Enemy Number One’, offers solution Bluewater, a purpose-driven water company providing leading-edge water purification technology solutions for homes, businesses, and public dispensing, told attendees at the recent international ‘The Future Is Water’ symposium in Amsterdam that single-use plastic bottles should be viewed as ‘public enemy number one’.

Recent research has underlined the pervasiveness of microplastics with particles now being found in the poop of new-born babies. It has been estimated that over 17,500 tonnes of plastic enter seas around the planet every year, breaking down into micro-plastics and leaching chemicals such as endocrinedisrupting chemicals (EDCs), which

have been linked to various illnesses such as breast and prostate cancers, diabetes, obesity, asthma, and learning disorders.

Recognizing that the high-end client is looking for something new, Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment asked DesignAgency to re-envision the space, which is located in a private zone behind the arena seating, into a premium retreat where members can enjoy a hospitality experience that extends well beyond the game or culture of the event itself.

With the new lounge, the design team was challenged to create a range of dining experiences that take advantage of the space’s elongated proportions and its varying ceiling heights, and also to create a variety of spaces that both encourage

opportunities for socializing and for privacy as desired.

Entering past the walnut paneled entrance, guests are immersed in a warm and welcoming atmosphere defined by richly coloured materials, soft ambient lighting and signature Canadian art. The new lounge is an environment synonymous with deluxe hospitality, where thoughtfully curated spaces, sensuous materials and beautiful lighting form the backdrop for premium culinary excellence.

Guests enter to the new central lounge and bar area, featuring a curvilinear leather paneled bar with glass and bronze detailing, ringed by leather barstools with comfortable, rounded backs and a continuous bar-top surface fit for dining. Table seating along the perimeter walls enables more cloistered conversations.

Continuing through the room, the space transitions from a lounge to a dining area.
