Room to Reward is a unique volunteerrecognition charity that uses donated unsold hotel rooms as a ‘thank you’ to those who are making a massive difference in their spare time. Room to Reward puts empty rooms to good use by treating hidden heroes that have been nominated by charities and community groups for their exceptional efforts. Simon Teasdale, Chief Executive Officer for LGH Hotels Management Ltd, commented: “We are really excited to join Room to Reward because we wholeheartedly believe in their mission. As well as a room, we know we can provide an excellent service and experience across our portfolio to ensure that good people get the great break they Founderdeserve.”of Room to Reward, Nicolas Roach, added: “We are so happy for LGH Hotels to be joining our programme and supporting us to recognise and reward the outstanding, and often crucial, work that volunteers do across the UK. With LGH partaking, we have added a fantastic and varied selection of properties for our heroes to choose from, which I am confident they will love. I am looking forward to booking the first LGH reward stay and many more to come.”

LGH Hotels have 45 hotels in 34 locations nationwide, and more than 7,000 rooms collectively. From London to Edinburgh, they have 16 key city centre locations and are present in every major hub and city, all with excellent transport routes. The LGH portfolio includes global brands such as Holiday Inn, Crowne Plaza and Best Western.

The scheme works whereby a volunteer is nominated by their charity as a ‘Hidden Hero’ and is presented with a hotel stay as a ‘thank you’ gift. The Hidden Hero picks their preferred hotel and dates for either one or two nights on a Bed & Breakfast basis, subject to availability.

The hotel’s stunning surroundings and Adam’s innovative new menus will inform the drinks programme at Woven by Adam Smith, featuring seasonal cocktails and many English wines alongside leading international producers.

The interiors for Woven by Adam Smith are led by Martin Hulbert, the designer of Coworth Park when the hotel first opened in September 2010. The main dining room seats 44 guests, with the adjoining conservatory, seating 14, having sweeping views over Coworth Park’s grounds. Every detail of the design has been inspired by the natural world, with the fabrics, lighting, artworks, natural materials, and striking colours and textures all coming together to create a lively, luxurious, and infinitely interesting space. The design will be theatrical and contemporary yet woven seamlessly into the fabric of its Georgian manor house setting and the surrounding Berkshire countryside. Speaking on the restaurant launch, Adam Smith comments: “A memorable dining experience is created by so much more than the dishes that we eat. With Woven, we will be pushing the boundaries of creativity and excellence in food, but also in drinks, service and design to create a restaurant that delights both destination diners and hotel guests alike. Stories and knowledge from my entire career, alongside inspiration from the idyllic landscape, will be woven into the menus, and the dishes, whilst refined, will be presented in playful and contemporary ways.

Chef Adam Smith will create dishes inspired by classic flavours and techniques, presented in fresh, creative, and contemporary ways. The finest produce will be showcased throughout the restaurant, with fresh seafood, outstanding butchery, foraged mushrooms, hand-picked herbs and native flowers from Britain’s famed larder, acting as inspiration for the seasonally changing menus.

The new measure is of course also aimed at retaining existing and valued employees. “To be attractive as an employer these days, innovative working time models are needed. We want to offer our employees more flexibility and free time, with the same pay,” says Uta Scheurer, Vice President Human Resources at Ruby. Employees who would like to continue working the original 40 hours per week will also benefit from the new work model as all accrued ‘overtime’ will be recorded, which can either be paid to the employee, or it can be used towards additional time off at a later stage. In addition, from 2023, Ruby will give all employees a share of its profits. “We are turning our employees into co-entrepreneurs with profit sharing. Our employees identify strongly with Ruby. We want to strengthen this identification and commitment with profit sharing, and invest in the relationship with our employees,” explains Michael Struck, founder and CEO of Ruby.

The Munich-based Ruby Group is now offering all employees a share in the hotel group’s profits and are also introducing a new 35-hour workweek with no change in salary for employees.

As of 1st October, Ruby Group is introducing a new 35-hour workweek across the company for all employees, including at its hotels, workspaces, and across its reservation’s teams, with no change in salary. All employees of the group will also receive a share of the company’s profits from 2023.

Back in June, the Munich-based hotel group, led by CEO and founder Michael Struck, launched an attention-grabbing recruitment campaign, offering to cover the cost of tattoos, haircuts, and piercings for new employees. The campaign was a great success with Ruby seeing a 25 percent increase in job applications. With the introduction of a 35-hour week at the same salary, the company is now taking another

In addition to these exciting new incentives, Ruby allows its employees more freedom of choice and flexibility with regard to work location and working hours, going far beyond to the standard ‘working from home’ policy, with trust-based working hours, 10 days of workation per year, part-time holidays and temporary part-time working also part of the initiative, along with increased individual training budgets. Struck adds: “Ruby is aimed at individualists, and that pertains also for our employees. We want to give them the opportunity to work more individually and develop their potential. We trust our employees”. All employees at Ruby also receive an allowance for their commute to work and for a fitness subscription.

The hotel’s facility is a large ground floor room equipped with a toilet and privacy screen, a ceiling hoist and height adjustable changing bench with shower, and a height adjustable sink. It’s not only open to hotel guests but also bookable for external visitors.

“We are incredibly proud of our new facilities which are already making a difference to guests and the many local people who visit the hotel for work. We have actually been quite overwhelmed by the interest and the high demand, which goes to show just how

Another new addition is a sensory room with soft furnishings, an illuminated bubble tube, colour changing lights, and music, providing a safe, calm space where people with a wide variety of different requirements, including Marsham Court Hotel in Bournemouth has invested upwards of £170k and counting to become a truly accessible destination after the owning family was inspired by their own experience with a loved one. This historic hotel with stunning views across the bay from Old Harry Rocks to the West, and the Needles and Isle of Wight to the East, has been welcoming holidaymakers to Bournemouth’s East Cliff for more than a Butcentury.after the owning family nursed their mum Jennie through the later stages of her battle with cancer, they saw first-hand the true impact of limited mobility and embarked on a massive transformation project to make their hotel accessible.

“This has been a passion project for our family. After decades welcoming guests and always trying to meet the needs of people with disabilities, it was only when we saw first hand just how challenging life can be when you have limited mobility that we recognised how much more we could do to improve accessibility and open up the possibility of a seaside holiday to many more families.

Rosie Radwell, whose family have owned the Marsham Court Hotel for over 30 years, said:

neurodiverse individuals and those with mental health needs, can relax and wind down.

As well as installing a wheelchair lift and creating level access across the ground floor, the hotel now offers four accessible rooms, two of which have profiling beds and removable ceiling hoists, and one has a connecting room for a carer or family Marshammembers.Court is also the first hotel in the UK to have installed a ‘Changing Places’ toilet and shower, which is part of a national network of registered facilities with enough space and the right equipment to allow people who are limited in their mobility to use the toilet in safety and comfort.

Heralded as ‘trailblazing’ by judges at the Annual ‘Cateys’ Hospitality Awards in July where the hotel won the Accessibility Award 2022, Marsham Court has already made more than £170,000 of improvements, both adaptations and additions, and is working on more.

A ramp down to the swimming pool and a new i-swim pool hoist and transfer board make this area fully accessible, and work is ongoing to continue level access across the final section of the broad sea-facing terraces.

Great care has been put not only into providing the very best facilities to support people with additional needs, but also in thinking about guests’ experience of moving about the hotel. Detail included in the hotel’s accessibility statement, published on its website, includes precise measurements of doors, transfer spaces and walkways, as well as details on flooring types, colour schemes and lighting. Additionally trained staff are ready to field inquiries and anticipate the needs of disabled guests ahead of and during their stay. Adds Rosie: “There are so many families and individuals who want to be able to enjoy a holiday and make precious memories with their loved ones – but so few hotels are able to accommodate them properly.

The hotel was awarded a £70,000 matchfunded, Bounce Bank grant by the Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole (BCP) Borough Council, which it has more than doubled and is continuing to invest in improvements, including the creation of further accessible bedrooms.

“We are determined that when they come to Marsham Court Hotel they can really relax, knowing that we have thought about their comfort and needs across every area of the hotel, and in every aspect of their stay.”

Dawn Elizabeth Rudd from the Berkeley Inns Group, finalists in the ‘Best Pub Beer Garden Awards 2021’ – alongside PPL PRS, the organisation responsible for issuing TheMusicLicence for businesses who use music – share their thoughts on how to create the perfect space this summer and how to get the most out of the weeks ahead.

Some like it hot – others don’t. Either way, summer is now in full swing, so it’s time to dust off the BBQ, get those drinks on ice and soak up the good weather in your beer garden or outdoor space, but are you making the most of it?

Bring the inside out Creating a great outdoor space is just the same as creating a great indoor one, which means the same careful consideration should go into the décor, atmosphere and service. Playing music, for instance, can be important to garden areas and can be an essential part of the ambience. It can help to lift the mood for staff, as well as your customers and can help to create a space people enjoy. As Dawn explains, “we have always recognised the fundamental importance of music within our venues it is an essential part of the ambience…whatever the weather the mood is lifted by music, a friendly face with a drink in hand. People, food and music in a traditional country pub, what really could be more pleasurable than that?”

Be unique A garden that stands out is one that is unique, so it’s important to remember your branding and as much as possible, stick to a theme. Creating continuity amongst your garden décor, for example, can help to distinguish your business, just like the unique garden rooms at the Berkeley Inns. You may even decide to host regular live music events or themed food nights. Pizza and prosecco anyone? 001 4544 pplprs.co.uk/getyourlicence

These are just a selection of hints and tips for how to best utilise your space this summer and get the most out of the good weather ahead.

Get creative A welcoming and uplifting outdoor area doesn’t necessarily have to be elaborate or expensive. In fact utilising your existing space and features can be one of the best ways to get the most out of your garden, whilst also ensuring you retain a unique and appealing feel. Looking at shelter, accessibility, utilising buildings, and outdoor structures could help you maximise your space. From turning an outbuilding into a bar, a grass patch into a patio or a decking into a dining area. Keep it simple As straightforward as it sounds, a garden that provides excellent food and drink facilities should never fail to impress so, whatever your budget, it is important to keep it simple. Collaborating with your local food and drink suppliers is an excellent way to hosting garden events for your local community and provides excellent revenues for everyone, particularly the rural economy.

Innovative developments continue at PureH2O Ltd, manufacturers of worldleading water purification systems, as they announce launch of RODI+™, their British built, space-saving Reverse Osmosis drinking water purification system. The slimline 4-stage water purifier delivers significant improvements on traditional Reverse Osmosis (RO) and reverse osmosis with de-ionisation systems (RODI) hitherto available from the USA. RODI+™ is, worldwide, the most water-efficient purifier in its class. It delivers far higher production rates and vastly reduced waste-water compared to non-UK manufactured systems. This makes RODI+™ the most sustainable choice of drinking water purifier after the market-leading PurityPRO™, PureH2O Ltd’s existing 3-stage RO system.

Commercial Cleaning and Hygiene

PureH2O Ltd provide a standard faucet with their water purifiers, but both RODI+™ and PurityPRO™ are designed to integrate seamlessly with the Quatreau® range of multifunction boiling, chilled and sparkling taps. PureH2O Ltd recently announced these are KUKreg4 certified and are now available in an incredible 200+ colours with their #TapToMatch bespoke colour service.

RODI+™ also integrates with steam ovens, icemakers and coffee machines. The all new RODI+™ and Quatreau® taps can be ordered directly from PureH2O Ltd, who welcome trade and consumer enquiries alike.

PureH2O Ltd launches space-saving drinking water purifier just 10. PureH2O systems are manufactured in Great Britain; RODI+™ racks up just 250 miles in CO2 footprint, compared to 4,425 and 9,120 with American and Chinese systems. As PureH2O Ltd M.D. Roger Wiltshire says: “We are delighted to manufacture truly British RO & RODI drinking water purification systems in the UK; we use WRAS-approved storage tanks, solenoids, pipes and fittings that set us aside from imports and we are the only manufacturer to integrate leak detection with automatic shut-off for peace of mind. All this means specifiers and consumers can be confident the British-built PurityPRO™ & RODI+™ offer superior quality and lifelong value.” RODI+™ builds on the principles on which PureH2O was founded on in 1991; to provide customers with exceptional quality drinking water in the most sustainable way, thereby reducing their environmental impact by avoiding single-use plastic bottled water. In fact, water produced by RODI+™ and PurityPRO™ is purer by far than any bottled water. 99% of inorganic and 99.99% of organic contaminants and impurities are removed, including PFAOs (recently discovered to be breaching UK water standards), nitrates, microplastics, pesticides such as metaldehyde, fertilisers, heavy metals, hormones and more. With a significantly smaller footprint than other water purifiers at just 9 x 33 x 41cm, RODI+™ can be installed in a kickspace to free up cabinet space. Three models offer incrementally higher water outputs (5 / 10 / 20* litres per hour) and combine with water storage tank options from 4 to 100 litres to meet the needs of any premises whether homes, offices, restaurants, hotels or commercial kitchens. The option to rent or purchase will appeal to those keen to explore the taste, health and sustainability benefits of pure water.

A British manufacturing first, RODI+ offers greater choice to consumers and businesses.

RODI+™ produces up to 20* litres of drinking water per hour, compared to 5 litres or 2 litres from standard American and Chinese systems, respectively. And whilst US manufactured systems waste 30 litres per 5 litres of purified water, and Chinese systems a shocking 100 litres, RODI+™ produces
