As a student of the Heritage and Conservation Lab (HCAL), one of the main task is to document a dilapidation report of an existing building located in our designated site.
The report is based on the current condition of the respective property at the present time. It records every existing damage and the state of any particular aspects of the property that are likely to be affected by construction work, excavation or demolition. In addition, the dilapidation report is usually taken on existing buildings on adjoining properties or on buildings of the same property, when protection works are required to be provided to the existing buildings. The report is based on visual inspections and can include not only the buildings or structures, but also the landscape, pavements and yards.
