Setting the Stage: The Black Hills State football team opens Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference action at home on Swarm Days against Fort Lewis College. The Yellow Jackets are coming off their first home-opener victory since 2009 after defeating South Dakota Mines 42-30 last Saturday to bring the Homestake Trophy back to Black Hills State. In the contest, Ward Anderson tossed for a career-best 412 yards and five touchdowns. Luke Whalen secured three of those touchdowns while Phydell Paris ran for 90 yards and a touchdown while being on the receiving end of 92 yards and another touchdown. Last Meeting: The Yellow Jackets had a come-from-behind 17-14 victory on Nov. 16, 2013 in Durango, Colorado. Black Hills State fell behind 14-10 before scoring 17-unanswered points led by an 83-yard interception returned for a touchdown from Brian Baldwin. BHSU then used a 15-play 80-yard drive to set up Harrison Dollins with the game-tying touchdown. The game-winning field goal came with six minutes left in the game as Christian Parr kicked a 34 yarder for the victory.

About Fort Lewis College: The Skyhawks enter Lyle Hare Stadium with a 1-1 record, falling to UC-Davis in its season opener and defeating Oklahoma Panhandle State 45-38 last weekend. FLC is led offensively by Jordan Doyle, averaging 294.5 yards passing per game with three touchdowns. On the ground, Doyle is the team’s leading rusher at 58.5 yards per game. Andrew Johnson is his favorite target with 11 catches for 177 yards and two touchdowns. Defensively, Jake Faust leads the team with 15 tackles, but none for a loss.
