Dear Potential New Members:

We could not be more excited about the prospect of adding you to our community this fall. The Collegiate Panhellenic Council of Georgia Tech, otherwise known as CPC, flourishes with the addition of each exceptional new member who decides to join one of our amazing chapters. Each year, we see our 1600+ members thrive in leadership positions and create widespread support networks across campus. Our formal recruitment process allows you to see which of our chapters is the best fit for you - learning about their values, philanthropies, sisterhoods, and overall college goals to help you pursue your own.

2024 Primary Recruitment registration is now open. We encourage you to check out the websites and instagrams of each of our 8 NPC Chapters, as well as our Associate Chapter, Alpha Omega Epsilon, that has a separate recruitment process. While going through primary recruitment may seem daunting at first, we have prepared the best of our community to lead and counsel you through your process. When you sign up for recruitment, you will be put into contact with “Recruitment Counselors” who will serve as this resource to support you.

Prior to signing up, feel free to contact the CPC Recruitment and/or Recruitment Programming Vice President for questions and resources. As a community, we pride ourselves on supporting and empowering each other by celebrating our backgrounds and individuality. As such, we are constantly working to improve inclusion within the Georgia Tech Greek life community. As we strive to improve every day, the future of our community is you. Each potential new member has the chance to help us thrive and improve on Georgia Tech’s campus, and we hope that with each generation of new members, we will continue this drive to make Greek Life more accessible and equitable.

With love,

CPC, or the Collegiate Panhellenic Council, is the unifying body of the eight National Panhellenic Conference (NPC) chapters and one Associate chapter on Georgia Tech's campus; we are one of the four Greek letter councils here at Georgia Tech. CPC is made up of the following eight NPC chapters and one associate chapter:

VALUES BASED RECRUITMENT:

GT CPC advocates for a values-based recruitment experience, one that is a reflection of both GT Panhellenic values and the personal values of each PNM. This approach to sorority recruitment ensures an unbiased and fair experience for all PNMs, and allows for our Panhellenic chapters to recruit members who identify with their founding values. It also encourages intentional conversation among current members and PNMs as well as clear indications of membership expectations and other standards so that PNMs are able to make informed decisions throughout the recruitment process. Before recruitment begins, we encourage PNMs to identify their own personal values and then reflect on the importance of joining an organization of women whose values go hand in hand.

SOCIAL:

SISTERHOOD:

CPC at Georgia Tech allows for members to be surrounded by empowering individuals of all different majors and ages. One of the recurring themes spoken about throughout recruitment is sisterhood. It is a life-changing bond formed between individuals within our community and within each chapter. Our community prides itself on having chapters that support the activities of one another.

ACADEMICS:

Our CPC community understands that academics should be a student’s main focus; therefore, numerous resources are offered to enhance a new member’s academic experience. Academic support goes hand-in-hand with career opportunities and connections. Whether it be pursuing an internship opportunity abroad or considering a new major on campus, CPC members are supported throughout their academic experience.

Individuals within our community enjoy the opportunity to take part in social events planned by their individual chapters. Social events make sure our members are able to take a break from the rigor of school and make memories with their sisters. These events are also the ile having a special to explore all that nta has to offer.

INVOLVEMENT:

The CPC community is filled with members from all different areas of campus, allowing our members to be introduced to countless organizations on campus that are able to compliment their experience. Our members are encouraged to follow their unique passions to find organizations that help them pursue their

interests and grow as individuals and future professionals.

PHILANTHROPY:

Being involved in CPC provides a valuable opportunity to make an impact within our surrounding Atlanta community. Each chapter supports a specific philanthropic organization and is passionate about raising funds and increasing awareness through communitywide philanthropy events and chapter activities. Additionally, the CPC community supports Circle of Sisterhood, a national philanthropy that provides support for women’s education across the globe.

FORMAT FOR RECRUITMENT:

THE BASICS:

Primary Recruitment is conducted by the eight National Panhellenic Council chapters within our CPC community. It takes place each August prior to the start of the fall semester. All Primary Recruitment logistics, invitations, and rules are overseen and organized by the CPC Executive Board, the CPC Recruitment Board, the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life, and the designated Recruitment Counselors. The recruitment process allows for all PNMs who are registered for Primary Recruitment to visit each sorority and have conversations with current members.

Due to the large volume of individuals attending Primary Recruitment, prior registration is required. Registration closes August 13th at noon and there is a non-refundable fee of $60 to register, which covers the administrative costs of recruitment. A scholarship is available to wave all fees and any potential new member is eligible to apply. The fees will be required to pay upon registering for primary recruitment and will be reimbursed upon winning.

For Fall 2024, we will be following the in-person Primary Recruitment format. We will proceed with the virtual recruitment or hybrid recruitment contingency plan in accordance with CDC and Georgia Tech guidelines, as was implemented during Primary Recruitment in 20202022 for PNMs with excused in-person absences.

MUTUAL SELECTION:

The selection process for joining a sorority is a “mutual selection” process. At the end of each day of recruitment, PNMs will rank the chapters that they would prefer to return to and chapters will extend invitations to individuals who could be a good fit in their respective chapter. PNMs will have the opportunity to discuss their decisions with Recruitment Counselors at the end of each day.

CONTINOUS OPEN BIDDING:

Continuous open bidding (COB) occurs after Primary Recruitment in the Fall and at the beginning of the Spring semester. The intent of COB is to provide maximum opportunities for membership to the greatest number of women who did not join a chapter during Primary Recruitment. It often comprises of coffee dates, lunch meet-ups, and chapter events that a chapter may invite a PNM to! Not all chapters will participate in COB, and there are limited spots in chapters that do. To be eligible for COB, a PNM must not have signed a Membership Recruitment Acceptance Binding Agreement (MRABA) during Primary Recruitment.

We are committed to creating an inclusive and welcoming environment where all members feel valued and respected. We believe that diversity enriches our sisterhood, broadens our perspectives, and strengthens our community. Our recruitment practices are designed to embrace individuals from a wide range of backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences.

Every PNM has an equal opportunity to join our sisterhood. We do not discriminate based on race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, disability, or any other legally protected status. Our recruitment process includes training for all members on unconscious bias and inclusive recruitment practices. We strive to ensure that every PNM is evaluated based on their character, potential, and alignment with respective sorority values.

NeedAccommodationsorJustWanttoTalk?

We acknowledge that DEI-related concerns can sometimes be difficult to bring up during the recruitment process, however, we are committed to ensuring this process is most equitable for all who choose to participate. If you need accommodations, have any questions, or simply want to talk about DEI-related concerns, please reach out to us. We are here to support you and can refer you to the appropriate resources on campus.

RECRUITMENT COUNSELORS:

A recruitment counselor is a temporarily disaffiliated member who is assigned to PNMs to help guide them through the recruitment process. She acts as a guide to PNMs and gives unbiased advice to PNMs as they go through recruitment. Two RCs are assigned to a group of 17-20 PNMs during Primary Recruitment. A PNM will be contacted by her RC prior to recruitment orientation and after a PNM has registered.

She will meet with her PNMs every morning to open a PNM’s daily schedule and every evening to submit a PNM’s preferences. An RC is a resource for PNMs to answer questions, talk about their decisions, and overall support a PNM through the recruitment process.

Some chapters may also have ceremonies specifictotheirchapterrituals. You'llhavetheopportunityto engage in meaningful conversations with current members and gain a deeper understanding of the sorority's values and sisterhood. The Preference round is a time for reflection and introspection as you consider which sorority resonates with your ownvalues, goals, andaspirations. It'satimetolistento yourintuitionandmakeadecisionthatfeelsrightforyou.

WHAT TO WEAR:

Preference Round is nice and fancy attire, and is the dressiest of alltherounds!Wearclothesthatyouwouldweartoaschooldance (although full gowns as you may have worn to prom are too formal!) or as a guest to a wedding. Heeled shoes or dress shoes areappropriateforPreferenceRoundsinceyouwillbeattendinga maximum of 2 houses this round. Just like Round 3, we recommend comfortable walking shoes for when you are not in a party!

BID DAY:

Bid Day marks the culmination of the recruitment process where you will find out which house you have been invited to join. Expect a vibrant and energetic atmosphere filled with cheers, laughter, and joy as new members like yourself find their new homes within the Greek community. Bid Day is often filled with fun activities, such as games, photo booths, and bonding opportunities, allowing new members to connect with their fellow recruits and current members of the organization. It is a memorable celebration that symbolizes the beginning of lifelong friendships and the start of an incredible journey within the Georgia Tech Greek community. Since the colors and themes of Bid Day are a surprise for new members after they receive their bid, we recommend wearing comfortable, neutral bottoms and undergarments that can work with any shirt.

THE BASICS:

Alpha Omega Epsilon is an associate chapter that is a part of Georgia Tech's CPC community and is a social/professional sorority. We are a smaller chapter averaging around 50 active members which allows us to have a tight-knit community of women passionate about STEM, but all majors and all year levels are welcome to recruitment. Our three main values are Professionalism, Leadership, and Friendship.

OTHER INFO:

In order to be eligible for an interview, you must have attended one info night, and as many of our recruitment events as possible (we will take attendance into account).

However, if there are any time conflictsdon’t worry!- just please reach out to our Director of Recruitment as early as possible and we’ll work it out for you.

We have no application fees for our recruitment process, but if you are extended a bid and accept, you will have to pay our dues.

Over the summer, take the time to fill out our interest form on our website. That way, a sister will reach out to contact you and give you some more information/answer any questions you may have! In the meantime, feel free to reach out to our Director of Recruitment, Nina Kesava at recruitment.gtaoe@gmail.com. You can also browse our recruitment page on our website or instagram for more information.

The next step would be to attend one of our info nights! Only attendingone of these is required, and it’ll be a casual night (no dress code) to get to know us a little better and meet us for the first time! You’ll also learn more about what recruitment and candidacy look like, and also what it would look like to be an active member.

Then we have our four recruitment events: professional night, leadership night, friendship night, and lastly, interview night for eligible PNMs only. Each night has a different dress code, but don’t worry too much about them! They’re just to make the nights more fun, so try and come in whatever you have access to.

To learn more about each of the recruitment nights and what eligibility entails, please check the recruitment page on our website. Also, if you’d like to read more about what it would look like to be a candidate and active member, check out our mini guide on AΩE.
