DEAR FRIENDS,
Welcome to this joyful time of year with the Richmond Symphony. We are so glad you have joined us for Let It Snow! and Holiday Brass, two beloved programs that bring our community together through warmth, celebration, and the shared tradition of holiday music. Whether this is your first concert of the season or a cherished tradition, we are honored to be part of your festivities.
As we look onward toward 2026, a commemoration of America’s 250th, the Symphony looks back at American music traditions, from Motown to Sousa, Copland to John Williams. The year begins African American Requiem from Richmond Symphony’s Composer-in-Residence Damien Geter’s (LovingvVirginia Opera).

We are so honored to continue to create artistic and educational experiences that bring community together, that lift Virginia voices, and tell Virginia stories. Whether Youth Orchestra programming across five ensembles, work with our school systems, free concerts in and around our region, we are steadfastly committed to you, and to all of Richmond.
We are deeply grateful to our patrons, subscribers, exceptional musicians and artists who bring these programs to life. Your collective enthusiasm and generosity make this journey possible.
Thank you for joining us. We invite you to settle in, open your heart to the music, and experience the shared joy of live performance.
With gratitude,

LAURA
ANN SINGH
VOCALIST
Hailed by The Guardian as “one of the more distinctive new voices in jazz,” vocalist Laura Ann Singh is a multilingual American singer, songwriter, and recording artist known for her vibrant interpretations of American jazz, Brazilian popular music, Latin boleros, and beyond. A founding member of the internationally acclaimed ensemble Miramar, she has performed on NPR’s Tiny Desk and All Songs Considered, and at the Kennedy Center and Lincoln Center. With Miramar, Singh has performed twice with the Richmond Symphony, toured internationally from Russia to France, and released music on Daptone, Barbès, and Ansonia Records (Entre Tus Flores, 2025).

Her projects span genres and continents: the Brazilian-focused ensembles Quatro na Bossa and Os Magrelos, work with the Doug Richards Orchestra (Sonic Prism, 2023), a collaboration (Crumb of Me, 2025) with the Rosette String Quartet, and experimental ventures with Out of Your Head Records — including the debut of her Fracas Quintet, Mean Reds, in October 2025, and a featured role on drummer-composer Scott Clark’s Dawn and Dusk in 2023. In 2024, she appeared alongside cellist Tomeka Reid at the Kennedy Center as a featured vocalist in Reid’s suite celebrating Ellington. Singh’s repertoire weaves together Latin American classics, the American Songbook, works by women composers, and original material, reflecting her love of cross-cultural collaboration and intimate connection with audiences. She moves easily between worlds, bending genres into something unmistakably her own.

CHRISTMAS CAROL SING-ALONG
Joy to the World
Joy to the world!
The Lord is come, let Earth receive Her King.
Let every heart prepare him room
And heav’n and nature sing
And heav’n and nature sing
And heaven and heaven and nature sing.
The First Nowell
The first Nowell the angel did say
Was to certain poor shepherds
In fields as they lay
In fields as they lay
Keeping their sheep
On a cold winter’s night that was so deep
Nowell, Nowell, Nowell, Nowell
Born is the king of Israel
Nowell, Nowell, Nowell, Nowell
Born is the king of Israel
Hark! The Herald Angels Sing
Hark! The herald angels sing
Glory to the new born King!
Peace on earth and mercy mild
God and sinners reconciled.
Joyful all ye nations rise
Join the triumph of the skies
With the angelic host proclaim
Christ is born in Bethlehem.
Hark! The Herald angels sing
Glory to the newborn King!
Silent Night
Silent night, holy night
All is calm all is bright
Round ton virgin mother and child
Holy infant so tender and mild
Sleep in heavenly peace
Sleep in heavenly peace
We Wish You a Merry Christmas
We wish you a merry Christmas
We wish you a merry Christmas
We wish you a merry Christmas
And a happy new Year
Good tiding to you
Where ever you are
Good tidings this Christmas
And a Happy New Year.
We wish you a merry Christmas
We wish you a merry Christmas
We wish you a merry Christmas
And a happy New Year.
