An Adaptive reuse of cement storage silos.
A project commited to preserving history while embracing innovation. The cement silos are repurposed to reshape them into a community hub that bridges the gap between city living and country charm. A moment where the desire for urban convenience meets the longinh for rural tranquility.
With the world slowly adapting to life in a pandemic, architecture is being called upon to reshape our spaces as we look optimistically ahead to a post-pandemic world. In the proposed design the aim was to come up with architectural solutions that could sustain the effects of pandemic. A housing intervention for the doctors & working staff of Manipal Hospital, Goa has been designed.
Several design strategies are proposed in order to achieve the goal of a safe built paradigm. One such strategy was visual and verbal communication. Since social distancing is now part of a new normal, visual connectivity from each space was mandatory.
Mud rooms were designed at the entrance of each unit for an individual to sanitize and keep the wearables such as masks, shoes etc. Balconies with terrace gardens were introduced for the design to be self sufficient.
There is no end in sight to the pandemic, but it has helped us predict what post-pandemic architecture and urbanism might look like. We could more effectively use healthy design and planning strategies to face pandemics and create a less pullulated, more sustainable architecture and urbanism in general.Therefore, this transformation in our physical and built environment could be a new normal. Based on the lessons learned from this crisis, this study introduces a vision about the required antivirus-built environment that can be updated to help mitigate the impact of virus.

An Urban Oasis in Sant boi de LLobregat, Barcelona
Productive adjacencies describes what happens when difference rubs up against each other. What happens in the meeting, in the friction?
Between building, street and park?
Between public and private?
Between daily residential life and tourism?
Between wet and dry?
Between steep and flat?
Between permeable and impermeable?
Between above ground and underground?
Between human and non-human?
Between mountain and river?
Between circulation and contemplation?
Between past, present and future demands on land use?
Between conservation and continuation?
Between the present and future needs of Sant Boi?
Walking is a frictional activity. How can walking help make the most of the opportunities given by productive adjacencies?
Nestled in the picturesque Sant Boi de Llobregat, Barcelona, this mountain landscape project transforms the historic site around a heritage tower into a breathtaking haven. A revitalized stream, once dry, now meanders gracefully, flanked by a ruins leisure garden and a lush forest rain garden. The enchanting stepped oat offers panoramic views of the rejuvenated river. On the opposite side, a proposed urban plaza thrives with vibrant vegetable gardens, honoring the region’s terrace farming tradition. This harmonious blend of natural beauty and cultural heritage creates a serene retreat, inviting residents and visitors to immerse themselves in the rich tapestry of Sant Boi de Llobregat’s landscape.
