The Incredible Speediness of Jamie Cavanaugh
and Health Education
Monday, November 28, 2016 11:00 am Capitol Theatre Grades: 3-6 Curriculum Connections: Social Studies, Drama, Physical
Jamie Cavanaugh has a problem. She’s always going too fast. “Slow down!” say her parents. “Pay attention!” says the teacher; but Jamie just can’t calm down or stay focused. The Incredible Speediness of Jamie Cavanaugh explores, with humor, insight and compassion, the hurt and confusion of being different when you can’t help it, and the challenges of being the target of school yard bullying. The hero of this remarkable play is a positive role model for young people with ADHD or other learning challenges.
Join Ichabod Crane, Brom Bones, the lovely Katrina Van Tassel, the residents of Tarry Town and, oh yes, the Headless Horseman, as they live the story made famous by the legend. This autumnal classic is faithful to the original story written by Washington Irving in 1819 and will thrill and perhaps chill your audiences (though it’s not too scary). No fall is complete without the fun of telling stories and our retelling of The Legend of Sleepy Hollow is one story you won’t want to miss!
