Dr. Duron and her colleagues were recently awarded funding from the Juvenile Justice Commission to support the Evaluation of the Restorative and Transformative Justice for Youths and Communities Pilot Program. In collaboration with the JJC, the research team will work closely with the Restorative and Transformative Justice (RTJ) Hubs and County Youth Services Commissions (YSC) to evaluate the implementation and impact of the RTJ Hubs in four municipalities to prevent youth from entering the JJC and to support those released from JJC facilities.

Joy Kim was invited to serve on the Advisory Group, Essential Jobs, Essential Care initiatives, a statewide initiative put forward by Paraprofessional Healthcare Institute (PHI) and New Jersey Advocates for Aging Well to improve direct care workers’ job qualities. Direct care workers work in the long term care industry and are one of the lowest paid and fastest growing worker groups in the country.

Dr. Lia Nower was recently awarded the Lifetime Research Award by the National Council on Problem Gambling at their annual conference in Boston. The NCPG is the leading research, policy, and prevention organization in the U.S. for individuals affected by problem gambling. It is the biggest award in the gambling research field, and Dr. Nower is just the 8th recipient of the award in the 50 years of the organization. The award is given to a person for "exceptional long standing achievement in the field of research to assist problem gamblers and their families." It is "only bestowed in exceptional times and circumstances to individuals who exemplify at least twenty years of research on problem gambling." Lia Nower has also been appointed Senior Editor of the journal Addiction. She has also been appointed to the Independent Monitory Committee, Yale School of Medicine.
